The pioneers had access to a focus group that had tons of liquidity and giant entertainment needs. They (the focus group) were willing at the time too have an anything goes attitude when it came to spending which also supported the massive expansion and corporate take over of Las Vegas. You could earn money as fast as you could lose it back then and that applied to a majority percent of the US population. Many pioneer services had so much cash coming in that they would put it into everything... real estate, service ventures, other investments... which all provided a long term return that would supplement business as usual when it came to gaming. The ultimate reserve on hand and incoming revenue streams for some of these places was huge and would take the worst type of business decisions/luck to end up losing all. Even if a place did take a hit or lose a reserve on hand they could still make it from non postup revenue streams that were continually coming in to see them to another lucrative, unregulated and non taxed NFL season.
