Question to all Catholics : Nominated Post

It's amazing the ignorance people have in this thread about what Catholicism is, and what Catholic Social Teaching is all about. I highly recommend you guys to open up the Catechism of the Catholic Church because there is a great sense of confusion amongst you all.

This thread is very sad to read because it is the product of a moral relativist society that has been shaped by neo-athesits caught up in the Dawkins school of thought. There is no sense of an objective right and wrong anymore. People are doing what they please and what they think is right for them. This is a downward spiral with a bleek future. The Church is the only thing saving the Western World from collapsing. I would like to make a few clarifications about the Catholic Church:

Women will NEVER be able to become a Priest within the Catholic Church. This is unchangeable. So erase this idea out of your head. Second, Jesus chose 12 male disciples, not female. He could of very well chosen females but he did not.

Second, RogueScholar was accurate in his explanation on why the Pope stepped down due to health reasons, but he drifted off into a moronic conclusion. The Pope did something unprecedented until 600 years ago. He intentionally stepped down. Numerous signs were pointing to this well in advance besides his deteriorating health. Just to clarify, a Pope is not required to hold the position until death. If a Pope is physically and emotionally incapable of serving, then he is recommended to step down. When Pope John Paul II died, his physical condition was at a very low point. He was suffering the conditions of old age evident by his inability to remain stable, and his drooling during prayers. Although many admired his bravery to continue, this was hard to watch for those in his presence, especially the ones closest to him, like Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict) When Ratzinger became Pope, he made it clear in several interviews that if he ever became physically and emotionally incapable in dealing with the demands of the postion he would consider stepping down gracefully. His decision to step down should be admired. He would of stepped down earlier, but the Church was in the middle of the abuse scandal and it would have not been the right time to step down. His strategic decision to announce his decision just before lent is a message to all Catholics. The new Pope will most probably be younger, but don't expect any new decisions like the one brought up here to change. The Church is based on canon law. In over 2000 years, the infallibility of the Popes have been proven by 0 contradictions in their moral teachings. The Church will never teach error, because it is founded by Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit. This does not mean that there haven't been bad Popes, there have been. But this does nothing to discredit the Catholic Church's mission an teaching, as well as the teachings of Christ. Every human being is prone to sin because of our inherent human nature. There will always be a few bad apples, but as Jesus said on the universal Church he founded, will not teach error. He also made clear that "the gates of hell will not prevail against it". The actions by a few bad Priests and Popes do not do anything to de-legitimize the Truth about the Catholic Church that Jesus founded on Peter. No other institution has survived 2,000 years like the Church. This alone proves its divine nature.

"the Church discriminates women" Totally moronic comment. The Church is against abortion, pornography, pre-marital sex, condoms, etc.

The Church works to preserve the female body, not objectify it sexually. The Church respects all humans, despite race, gender, or stage of development. The Church was a major encourager of sciences, it started the University system, it is by far the largest charity donator on earth, it is on the front-lines in Africa each and every day. It is there post-abortion to help the women cope with their decision. It is pro-life and preserves the dignity of every female, even the ones unborn in the womb. The Church promotes the sacredness of family, and the importance of love and abstinence for women. Condoms encourages a sense of invisibility and leads to more rape, as is the case in Africa. Abstinence teaching leads to less pre-martial pregnanices, and abortions.

The world is facing a cultural war. One caused by the most devastating philosophies of our time. The philosophy of moral relativism. There is no more right and wrong outside the Catholic Church. People are turning religion into politics, and politics into religion. People are praising people, instead of praising God. Politicians are telling you what is right and wrong, even though morals are being put to the side. Does the consensus decide if something is right, or does Jesus Christ? What happened to our morals? Slavery was legal at one time too. So was segregation. This does not make it right. There is only one truth-Jesus. There is no truth in society and this is the breakdown of society. Without objective truths, where are there limits? What limits our rights? What limits one from marrying a cat? The social structure and family unit is breaking down before our eyes and people are oblivious.
