I agree. There should be no tax benefits for having kids. Actual the tax benefits should go to those without dependents. Weird country we're living in currently, the economics are fukked.

I understand the sentiment, give the people with kids money so they will then use it in some fashion to benefit the kids and the kids will grow up and will hopefully not be as fukked up as they could be. The problem is it does not work fiscally.

The country has to systematically/culturally create a shift from these 18-19 year olds with no money and no career prospects from giving birth.

The numbers in these poorish inner-cities are crazy. Teens are just bored so they're fukkin and then having kids. Many kids then being raised in a single parent type home and are destined to become a statistic. It's a rough cycle for the economy and the school system. You start to realize these kids in these rough environments create problems in school which then make the schools less efficient overall (teacher spending too much time/effort concentrating on disruptive students). It has to change, right?
