My point on the specific companies involved is that Obama did the exact thing Romney did only on a larger scale and with our money and still lost out in the investments.
Oh, so a Romney presidency wouldn't be about picking winners and losers based on favors owed to friends? Then why did the Republicans in the Senate block a measure that would have eliminated the approximately 2 billion in subsidizes paid to the oil industry?

Nevermind the fact that one of the primary reasons Solyndra went belly up is because the Chinese flooded the market with cheap solar panels that they could afford to sell so cheaply because the Chinese government was heavily subsidizing them. Whereas the US government wasn't subsidizing the US manufacturers just giving them loan guarantees. The US in fact just imposed a tariff on Chinese solar panels because of this illegal dumping that violates WTO rules.

Oh and before you ask, the reason this dumping strategy works is because you effectively price your competition out of the market, they don't have the same subsidizes you do so they have no choice but to sell at a loss or leave the market. Once the competition leaves the market you can raise your price and it becomes harder for new players to enter the market because of the costs of restarting manufacturing.
