they are the best fade in NBA history this year. theyre 18-35 ATS against the best available number against them. best you could find betting ON them would make you 22-31. basically you could be 66% fading these guys blindly.

Their last 100 games theyre 40-60. Unheard of in terms of a fairly long term result. they have and will continue to be one of the most over rated teams ever by gamblers. So while the know it all and myopians can applaud their 'success' they are clearly a great team to bet against. basically guys could have made a living fading these guys the past few seasons, even the year they won it all. Since the start of the 09 season (they won it that year) this team is 105-145 ATS. 3 years fading them every game would have you at 58%. basically 30 units. so if you bet a dime a game you would be up 30K fading these stiffs... blindly. That includes play off games as well. 2008 was the last year they were close to .500 ATS wise, they were 53-52 that year. But since the start of the 09 season this team is 167-83 SU (66%) but 105-145 ATS. That is the very definition of over rated. If you want to break it down into fav and dog parameters it gets even worse. As a fav in that time period theyre 149-53 SU, 87-115 ATS. As a rule of thumb if a team wins SU theyre going to cover 70-75% of the time. lakers cover just 58%. That is horrendous. As a dog they are more true to form. They are 16-28 SU as a dog, and 19-25 ATS as a dog meaning they 'covered' (lost but not by enough) just 3 games. Bulls by comparison since 09 are 27-43 SU as a dog but 42-27 ATS. As favs theyre much better as well 126-40 SU and 95-71 ATS. Another over rtaed team? How about the Heat? Theyre 142-56 Su as a fav since 09, 111-87 ATS thats a 78% win rate as a fav. So as over rated as they are they still cover spreads astronomically better than the Lakers do. Heat as a dog in that time period are 13-24 SU (a dog a lot less than the lakers) and are 19-18 ATS. So their 'cover' rate isnt great either.

Bottom line is no matter how over rated you might think some team is by the books or the bettors none are even in the same universe as the lakers.
