Is this the thread where Mex stiffs for 40K points and chembro gets bashed?

Oh good, I was lookng for this one.

A few random thoughts...

1. My first thought regarding a partial solution...

Thad should open a thread with a title like "Mex Book Bailout". And people can click on the post and give their points to Thad, to be distributed to the people who lost out here. This would be yet more work for Thad, but I believe he is the one out the most points so at least he would be getting something back.

I would be willing to throw some points at such a fund. I want to be clear that I am not talking about a fund where Thad (or anyone else) gambles with the points. The points should just go straight to the depositors who lost out, in proportion to how much they lost.

2. Why is Mex paying out the smallest balances first? This makes no logical sense. Even stranger is that no one is bothering to ask him this question. I guess they are too busy attacking chembro

3. Chembro talking about karma with regards to Mex's family was retarded. I am not sure what he was thinking. I guess he was pissed off. But it was really stupid.

4. I agree with those that say Mex seems like a good guy and that this just snowballed on him. I believe he has done the stiff list in the past, and he has been a big forum contributor in the past. That is why I would give to a bailout fund.

5. Mex is not a victim though. Mex, reading your explanation it seems like you thought running a book means you just slowly accrue profit at the expense of the people who bet with you. Why do we care who ran up what deposit? Your business model was a joke (use extremely low juice lines, give large bonuses, let bettors choose which book's line to use on individual bets). It looks like you were destined to lose. Best case scenario is you would have made pennies per hour. I realize you were doing this as a hobby, but that doesn't mean you don't have to pay your debts. You gambled with these people. You lost. It doesn't matter that you thought you had the best of it. You lost. Pay your debts.

If it was me, I would get these people's info and send them real money. That's just me though - I take gambling debts seriously. Obviously a lot of people look at it differently.

6. Mex, it is extremely disrecpectful to tell people that you will continue with your gambling hedge fund until you hit 5 points per share. You some kind of pipe dreamer? No wonder you kept putting off the inevitable closure of your book. Liquidate the fund now and give the points to the people you owe.

7. If you really want to do your best to pay off these points, you can learn some things from Carseller. No, don't go to the casino and blow all your points. I am talking about how the guy absolutely hustles for points. Ok, he is an addict, but you can see what I mean. Play all the contests, log in every day, etc.

8. Mex let this problem snowball for way too long. As others have said, allowing new depositors was just awful.

9. Mex, you shouldn't hide from this problem. People here are obviously willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Some of these rubes actually want to shake your hand and hand you a cigar. And pretty much everyone feels you are generally a good guy who let things snowball and kind of went into a shell. But keeping your head in the sand got you into this mess. You can come forward now and face this. It's far from the end of the world. People want to hear what you intend to do. They want updates on what you are going to do about the money/points you owe them. It was a great start to come here and apologize. Don't go hiding again though.

All just my opinion...
