It is VERY clear who the public blames for the failure of the debt talks ... of course the delusional right wing nut-jobs that walk around in their own little world can claim victory as much as they want ... the only people that matter are the ones that will vote them out in huge numbers in 2012.

The prolonged debt ceiling impasse in Washington, D.C., has — at least for the moment — caused the roof to fall in on the Republican Party’s approval ratings, according to a new CNN-ORC poll.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed in mid-July voiced a favorable view of the Republicans, but the figure has fallen to just 33 percent in the latest poll. Fifty-nine percent voiced an unfavorable opinion of the Republicans.

By contrast, the Democrats held almost steady. Forty-seven percent take a favorable view of the Dems, while 47 percent have an unfavorable opinion. The party is actually up two ticks from its 45 percent favorables in July.

The Tea Party movement has seen its favorables decline as well. In mid-July, 37 percent gave thumbs-up to the unyielding cut-the-deficit, no-new-taxes movement that’s become the tail wagging the dog of Congressional Republicans. The latest CNN-ORC poll has the Tea Party’s favorable rating down to 31 percent, with unfavorables at 51 percent.
