I like Medicare.

I don’t trust anyone who says they are going to reform it. It worked great for my parents. And it will work for me in 15 years.

Turning medicare over to private for-profit insurance companies is the wrong thing to do. Private companies have only one mission: to make money for their shareholders.

They make a profit by making sure they take in more money than they pay out. That usually means raising premiums and copays and cutting services and benefits.

Medicare isn’t beholding the shareholders and it doesn’t need to make a profit.

One thing that makes you wonder about Ryan’s plan: It exempts anyone 55 and older. Which begs the question: If the Ryan Plan is so much better than Medicare, why are current Seniors exempt from it?
