here is the trade for Shaub. When the trade is completed, Atlanta and Houston will flip-flop first-round picks in April's draft, and Atlanta will receive Houston's second-round picks in 2007 and 2008. The deal will be announced Thursday. Houston has the No. 8 pick in the first round of the draft, while Atlanta is slotted 10th.

u know what will happen when they trade him,the minute he gets traded vick will get hurt during the season and they will be stuck with shitty backup,so maybe they need to pacify him and wait to see

Actually the Eagles absolutely love their 3rd QB as well, Mike Kafka. That's what makes this deal work.

If the Eagles like their 3rd QB, they might as well make the trade.

    Trade Kolb for a 1st and a 3rd, or 4th.

Kolb's price is probably going up. I don't think any of these college QBs are blowing the doors off any scouting reports.

Same goes for free agency. I suppose there'll be some retreads like McNabb out there, who'll do fine IMHO, but any team wanting a legitimate long term solution is going to have to take a hard look at Kolb.

A 1st rounder seems a steep price for Kolb unless Kolb makes that team a championship contender with his addition.

    i'm guessing:
vikings, dolphins, cardinals, 49ers and titans.

If cincy trades carson for a 1st rounder, they also could be in play

There is no way Kolb is worth a first rounder

I agree those teams might be interested, but I don't think anybody's putting up a first rounder...that's the mystery of the press release. Theyr'e just trying to sell high.

    Interesting point.

I guess the closest example to this happening might have been Joe Montana going from SF to KC. KC gave up a 1st rounder for a 36 year old Joe Montana and Joe did take KC to the conference championship in 1993, but KC was already a solid playoff contender under Schottenheimer for 3 years running prior to Joe Montana's arrival. I guess Joe maybe got them one level deeper in the playoffs, but Joe Montana is also arguably one of the greatest QBs of all time.

With teams like the Vikings, Cardinals, 49ers and Dolphins, they are all a good QB away from being a solid playoff contender, but probably not necessarily a championship contender. Each of these teams needs to be considered individually. If Kolb was able to take the Dolphins to the playoffs at all, that should be considered a success considering the current state of that team. Maybe the same with the 49ers, winning the NFC West with Kolb would be a success considering the current state of that franchise. With the Cardinals, I'd put the expectations slightly higher, maybe Kolb needs to win a playoff game to be considered a success there because that team ought to be able to shine with any kind of QB output whatsoever. With the Vikings, I'd agree that they need to be a championship contender for Kolb to be considered a success there, the Vikings are too close to not be in the mix with a decent QB under center.

Why would waste a first round unknown qb this year... This draft does not have an elite qb in this draft that can start next year.. Trade for Kolb who can help a team now...
