Are you referring to a medical condition for Al?

because Al thought the OC, not the HC, was responsible for whatever success the Raiders had last year...

giving ridiculous contracts out to defensive players has become a regular thing for al

first it was re-signing tommy kelly, way too much money

then re-signing nnamdi asomugha, who while a great player, didn't deserve 16 or 17 million a year

    now re-signing seymour

he is so bad for football its ridiculous.they need to get him out of oakland so maybe they can get a real owner and start winning again..think last year was a fluke

2 years, 30 million with 22.5 million guaranteed. It's not that bad considering the only other option was a 14.6 million franchise tag.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...aiders-seymour

Sounds like lots of major players for the Raiders are free agents this offseason and they'll need that franchise tag on somebody.

I know Seymour isn't the player that he used to be, but he's still a solid starter and his veteran leadership is worth something.

One thing, it's better to stick the money into Seymour than a Raiders draft bust. At least Seymour will see the field and start.

Same with Asomugha, he's probably worth every penny as a top 5 corner in the NFL. Tommy Kelly isn't a superstar, but he's a solid guy that will start year after year. Al trading #1 draft picks for guys like Seymour might be a good move considering how badly he drafts.

I guess the real question is how the lockout negotiations go and whether Al can fit all these guys under the next salary cap! lol

agree with op and majority here.... doesn't make sense how he is the highest paid defensive player... with all the talent in this league, even the talent that is also on oakland..

I was thinking, maybe Al has some insider info about the league loosening or scrapping the salary cap entirely in the next CBA.

im a pats fan/season ticket holder....big seymour fan here...this guy is a versatile as they come...this guy was playin nose alot in his rookie year when we won the superbowl....this guy was my favorite player here for years.....you should have seen the crap some ron borges wrote after we drafted him and matt light(and these guys are both have an outside shot at the hall)

i hated to see him moved to oakland...but it fell in line with what we do....guy wants a long term deal with guaranteed money at top dollar...we found a buyer...and now have a mid first round pick we can get younger guy that well have under control for 5 years at a bargain rate.....

didnt get to see oakland play hardly at all this year....but this is a guy whos value isnt really caught by the naked eye....i have to believe even ole al had some football people watching film and grading his effectiveness last year...the guy is never going to produce a gaudy sack total...hes not a 3-4 rush linebacker...nor is he a 4-3 end ......hes a guy that plays on the outside that eats up space, blockers, and helps set the edge against the run......his numbers(which are completely irrelevant...because hes not a playmaker...hes a guy who allows others to make plays) pretty much fall in line with what hes done over his career.....this was an 8-8 team...and al probably thinks he might be able to get them over .500 next year.....seymour is a great leader and commands respect....its not that bad of a deal...its only a two year commitment

I know Seymour got an absurd amount of money, but honestly as a Pats fan. I feel he is very deserving of it, he was a helluva player for the Pats and now the Raiders. The guy has always been a class act off the field as well.

Decades ago, the NFL changed the rules to require all NFL franchises to limit ownership shares to no more than 10 people, with one person controlling at least 30%. The Packers, who are the only publicly owned franchise in sport, were grandfathered in. That people like Bill Ford Sr., Dan Snyder, Al Davis, Bob Bidwill, and Mike Brown can hold on to their teams and run them into the ground is apparently acceptable to the NFL but teams that routinely outperform and win Super Bowls are unacceptable.

NFL can eat a fat one, and if you're obsessed with the NFL, God help you.

Gotta admit, he's not the brightest owner out there. But Seymour is a pretty good player that has done well for them.
