PITTSBURGH (AP)—Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch broke his right collarbone and left the team’s preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night.
It’s unclear how Batch was hurt, but the injury may have occurred on a broken play midway through the second quarter.
Batch attempted to hand off to Mewelde Moore, who appeared to miss his assignment prompting Batch to scramble for six yards off left tackle. Batch remained in the game but left after handing off to Gary Russell on the next play with 6:13 left in the half.
It was not immediately clear how long Batch will be sidelined.
