The guy is almost 50 years old, no way he could play in the NFL.

He wasn't a RB at the end, he was a blocking FB and KR specialist. At age 35 he had over 1,000 KR yards, #7 in the league.

If he makes a comeback, it isn't going to be as a starting RB. He'll be a FB and special teams guy. Your stat quote is very inexact.

Huh? When he retired, he was 2nd all time in all purpose yardage in NFL history. He was superhuman in the USFL.

He should try out for the UFL next season and I'm sure some team might bring him in for a look if he does well there. I don't see that happening but that would be his best shot.

I totally agree. I don't think he could make an NFL team either, but I would love to see the guy play at 48 just for grinz.

There won't be "scabs" this time... If it were a players issue as in 83' or 87' the owners can hire "scabs" or "replacement players" but this time it's an owners issue and the players can't go get "scab" owners...

There very likely won't be a full season next year and maybe not a season at all...

I was doing some reading about the 1982 strike. I guess the NFLPA actually organized a sort of pro bowl exhibition type of game in Washington DC and Los Angeles. More were scheduled, but were cancelled due to lack of interest.

John Riggins played, but most other players refused due to lack of health insurance and risk of injury.

I think it would be interesting if the NFLPA tried a mini-league like the UFL or something with any willing players.

At 52 years old, Herschel is still talking: "I can play in the NFL today".

Herschel, put up or shut up. Walk on to some training camp and prove something.
