This season is final proof that FARVE IS, WAS, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN OVERRATED

Dude plays for the Jets and they dont even make the playoffs. Next 2 seasons without him they go to AFc Championship game.

Packers didnt do shit last several years with him, Now they too are in conference championship game.

Vikings sucked ass with him all year long.

I think the proof is in, and I dont see how any of the Farve lovers can still deny it. Dude is the most overrated player in the history of sports, any sport.

He had 1 good year. 1996 he wins the superbowl because he had the best defense, best offensive line, great running game, great recievers. half the QB's in the NFL would have won the SB with the team he had.

Then he follws up with a lot of 4, 5, 6, 7 win years.

great QB's dont have 5 and 6 win seasons.

How many times did Marino, Elway, P. Manning, or Brady finish the season with a 5-11 or 6-10 record ?

farve doesnt belong in the same breath with these guys.

Dude, doug whats his name for the Redskins won 1 superbowl back in like 1989 or something.

That doesnt make Doug whats his name a great QB. I dont know why Farve's 1 SB makes him so great.

that was a bit harsh of me but you could of at least done a little research

i actually agree that he is overrated, he made a ton of bad decisions in his career, and threw way to many bad picks

As far as quarterbacking goes, Marino was better than Joe Montana. Montana played on better teams.

yeah 2005 was 4-12 and then 2006 was 4-8 after 12 weeks. He finish strong but still season was over at 4-8 after week 12.

He had a few years where they were shitty and out of it then they win 3 of their last 4 or 4 of their last 5 to finish 8-8 but still season is over when you start 4-8 like in 2006.

Just seems to me, that the great QB's like Marino, Manning, Brady, Elway they seem to be 10-6 or better every year and their team is in the playoffs almost every year. I know Elway had a couple bad seasons but he went to the SB 6 times. 6 AFC Championships and 2 SB's he has to be considered one of the best

He was great in his prime, unfortunately he was not the most consistent QB in the league his final years. He was still better than half, and is the unquestioned toughest man to ever play the position.

He won a lot of games without the talent some teams had. Green Bay never splurged to stack the rosters and only in recent years have their draft picks excelled.

dude showed up to play. never pussed out. as a team-ate that is one thing you always respect. The guy also had one of the greatest years by a qb ever in 2009. At the age of 40

that actually made me suspicious of him doping in one manner or another. How many 40 year olds have career years in ANY sport, let alone football. maybe that explains why he pretended to retire so many times. Trying to avoid some obligatory offseason drug testing maybe?

In any event, Favre dominated headlines for many years. Guy came out of no where to be a good QB to. Gotta respect that

Not sure I would say overrated as much as an accumulator. Kind of like an Elway, he benefited from playing a long career and accumulating lots of stats.

Favre is and had always been a bit overrated. He's the type of quarterback that can win games by himself.............or singlehandily cost his team a chance to win with a pick 6. He's not in Elway or Montana's class. However he certainly deserve to be in the Hall of Fame and was a top 5 quarterback in his prime.

don't mistake long careers to be equal to mediocrity.

Elway and Favre had 20 pro bowls between them. Neither of them were Mediocre, and when you combine being well above average with Longevity you get GREATNESS.

otherwise, Hank Aaron and Pete Rose were over-rated and just "accumulated" stats

    Shouldn't be a factor.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl 10 years ago, does that mean he was better than Marino? No it doesn't. End Thread

Dude? He played the game like it was supposed to be, with passion and heart. Maybe his most amazing record is the consecutive games streak that only ended with a couple games left this season.

He is arguably one of the greatest players to have ever played any position in any sport in any era.

I remember the days when Farve was on top of the world. The 1997 Superbowl vs Denver. This guy was flawless and an unbelievably bad@ss quarterback prior to that game. Never been the same since that loss. I never thought in my wildest imagination that it would be his last Superbowl appearance ever!

    great point right here..

3 plays ill never forget from him is the TD pass to Antonio Freeman as i was watching it at a strip club.

and the bad pass vs the Eagles after the Eagles converted 4th n 26, cost them that game.

and the bad INT vs the Giants in OT in the frigid temps....

thats how his career was 2 bad plays for every 1 good one.. and the one good one shouldve ended badly

outside of the friendly confines of Green Bay(or at least until he retired and unretired for the 80th time and went to their hated rivals, although many in GB still love the man to death), this is old news. Anyone that objectively looks at his career knows he's wayyyyy overrated.
