Why don't coaches demand kickers being men on kickoff tackling?

Just fukking pathetic. Coaches cut guys for missing fgs all the time but never for busting a kr in the chops. Give me a tough guy who misses every now and then but will lay the lumber versus a very good kicker who waves as the kr goes by him. Pitiful.

not often they have to make tackles. also fgs are much more important that a kicker tackling and the kickoff guy is usually also the field goal kicker

Not making a tackle on a td return means the kicker has to kick at least two fgs and two xps to make up for their pitifulness.

No way you can get a kicker who is fast and athletic enough to tackle these incredibly quick return specialists.

Can they be taught to redirect a returner? Be in position, dive, or trip up someone, or would it be better if a rock was out there to do the same thing?

Skill position. You don't wanna hurt that guy. They would rather give up the 7 points than have to be kicking off to the 30.

The Cowboys PK, Buehler ia a great tackler, actually one of the ST tackles leaders. The Cowboys coaches have had to tell him to not go diving into the scrums, he's laid some pretty good hits on guys. Too bad the rest of the team couldn't do that.

Because if the kicker gets hurt, they have to rely on guys like Suh and Welker to kick... who would you rather have lining up for a 45 yarder with the game on the line?

kickers are not athletes that can just make tackles vs nfl players. you think that just anyone can tackle these beasts?

Sheesh. The Falcons rushers have failed to down Rogers three times when he was standing in the pocket and you want to rip on kickers for not tackling?

The kicker never gets hurt attempting to tackle. They normally fall in some awkward manner or twist their legs in a funny way as the returner zooms by him.

    Just think about it.

Kicker spend the majority of their time practicing kicking. Do you want them doing tackling drills with the linebackers also?

Is that the best you can come up with? Are you a kicker? If you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem.

    Here what you do...

During next offseason go to as many training camps as possible. Compare the size, and speed of the kickers to the average skill position player.

Then realize kickers, look like the kids who sack groceries at your local Albertsons. They dont compare to the size, and speed of the guys who sack QB's

Love how some people think they're smarter then NFL coaches....or think they can reinvent the game...

So you want a kicker that misses more, but will attempt a good tackle in maybe 2-3 chances in a season....

I can't stand kickers either. I think they should have to wear skirts when they come out to kick so everyone can see they're not real athletes. Also maybe give them pink helmets to further ostracize them.

    ir

Very few kickers make the entire season without being cut or replaced, because no one makes all of their kicks. They might as well be good tacklers if they can't kick fgs. They may stay on the roster if they stop a highlight runback or two. Every kick return is shown in its entirety, could save a job if you just make a tackle and stay off sportscenter.

I think Buehler is the EXCEPTION, rather than the norm for kicker.

Martin Grammatica was a tiny beenpole from what I remember of his days with TB. He couldn't tackle a snowflake in my book.
