Center Brett Romberg agreed to terms on a one-year deal to return to the Rams, president of football operations-general manager Jay Zygmunt confirmed Thursday.

The move gives the Rams another option at the center position.

Romberg, 28, began the 2007 season as the team's starter, beating out veteran Andy McCollum in training camp.

But after starting the first seven contests at center, Romberg missed seven of the Rams' final nine games because of a series of injuries to both ankles.

At the moment, Romberg's biggest competition at center could come from Mark Setterstrom, who is attempting to switch from the guard position.

But the team's offseason roster also includes centers Dustin Fry and Nick Leckey. In addition, guard Richie Incognito spent most of the 2006 season playing center.
