The Prick has a little cash leftover from the Beat the Prick contest and has graciously decided to donate it towards a simple squares pool for the upcoming big NFL Championship game on Feb 3. The rules are simple, as long as you haven’t been living under a rock your entire life and never have come across a squares pool before. And the entry fee is even easier to understand than the rules since there is no entry fee.
PAYOUT & ENTRY
1. Total Purse: $1,000 USD
1a. $150 per quarter (right way score), $150 for final (right way score)
1b. $50 per quarter (wrong way score), $50 for final (wrong way score)
2. Entry Fee: $0 USD
HOW TO ENTER
Starting Wednesday, Jan 23, at 9:00 a.m. (ET), SBR members with 250+ posts can sign up for one square and one square only. The order in which we receive the signup posts will determine where they are located on the sheet. For example, if you’re the first to sign up, you will get the top-left square, the second signup will get the square to the right of #1, and so on and so on.
If any squares are left 24 hours later, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, Jan 24, we will accept entries from posters with 100+ posts. And if any remain at 9:00 a.m. (ET) on Friday, Jan 25, we will take posters with 50+ posts.
Once we have the 100 entries and have them assigned to the 100 open squares, The Prick will draw the numbers for the pool with New England across the top and New York down the side, and a link posted both in Players Talk and the NFL Forum to view the sheet.
THE FINE PRINT
1. Must be 18 or older to enter contest.
2. One entry per household; one entry per IP.
3. SBR Employees and members of their family are prohibited from entering.
4. On Monday, Feb 4, 2008, we will PM winners to get mailing addresses and names for the winning checks.
Am I missing something with the payouts. Says prize pool is $1000, $150 per quarter right way=$600, $50 per quarter wrong way=$200, total $800? Or is the 4th quarter worth $300 for right way and $100 wrong way?
The missing $200 from your math will be for the final score ($150 right, $50 wrong way). If it goes to OT, then there will be five 'quarters' to pay off; if there isn't any OT, then the fourth quarter winners will enjoy a double dip.
I'd rather you guys give the money to JJ so he can re-load. Just put a condition on it. Only one bet per 24 hr period. I'm sure he will end up winning a great deal of cash through disciplined spot betting, which the aforementioned condition would ensure, and would kick back many times your original investment to SBR.
