    Las Vegas books question

With all the playoff lines being top heavy (NY -130, Pitt -120), how does it work in Vegas?

Do the books have dime lines all the time or do they play the same game, having Tampa +110 and NY -130?

Or do some books do it, others not.

Based on my observations from the various sportsbooks on the Las Vegas strip, the lines vary from casino to casino. However, the lines at MGM has the highest fluctuation compared to the majority of the sportsbooks in Las Vegas from my experience.

It seems the lines at MGM fluctuate much quicker during the week compared to other sportsbooks. Usually, the lines will move by mid or latter part of the week at a majority of the sportsbooks in Las Vegas, but in the case of MGM, the lines will typically fluctuate by Tuesday.

If I had to make an educated guess, I would attribute this to the higher betting limits that MGM offers on NFL sides compared to other sportsbooks in Las Vegas.

All it takes to move the line in Vegas one way or the other is 1,000 bet in that direction. If the bets coming in equal out the line doesn't move. Someone told me that once so I tried it. I bet 1,000 and watched the line move about 2 minutes later. Vegas also watches how the lines move in the offshore books to see where the money is going before they set their opening lines.
