Colts | Jonathan Taylor in spot to thrive
Indianapolis Colts second-round pick RB Jonathan Taylor is in the best position of drafted running backs to succeed, according to Pro Football Focus' Michael Renner. The team's offensive line is returning all five starters, and the line ranked third in PFF's rankings last season.

Ravens | Gus Edwards made most of carries
Baltimore Ravens RB Gus Edwards averaged 5.3 yards per carry in 2019, the third most among qualified runners.

Footballguys view: Edwards is pushed down the depth chart with the selection of J.K. Dobbins in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. We'll see the Ravens use Mark Ingram and Dobbins as their top backs leaving Edwards for a third-string role. He's a one-dimensional power back who might get some short-yardage of goal-line work.

Bears | Anthony Miller's role grew
Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller had at least six receptions in four of the final seven games in 2019 after catching five passes or less in each of the first nine games.

Footballguys view: We love Miller's talent and see him as a WR4 with upside in 2020. Miller had surgery on his left shoulder after the season but is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Titans | Coaches still high on Corey Davis?
Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis is still well liked by the coaching staff, according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com, but Wyatt believes Davis is playing for his future with the team in 2020.

Footballguys view: Davis was outplayed last year by rookie A.J. Brown. His fifth-year option was declined so this is his final season under contract with the Titans. The former first-round pick has talent and is worth taking a chance on late in your draft just in case he puts up good numbers in a contract year.

49ers | Versatility a strong suit for Brandon Aiyuk
San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft in part due to his ability to be a threat at every level of the field, but also because the 49ers believe he can play any of the team's receiver positions.'It didn't matter where you put him and it didn't matter what the play was, and that's what we got a little bit with Emmanuel (Sanders) when we traded for him, and that's what I think we're getting with Brandon. This guy wants to be great. I want someone like that. And I think he has the tools to be great. I think he has the mindset to be great, and I promise you schematically we're going to give him every chance to do that,' head coach Kyle Shanahan said.

Footballguys view: Aiyuk is the king of run-after-the-catch ability. Not only does he play with speed and ankle-breaking quickness, but he also has a strong lower body and can pick up yards after contact better than most receivers. Aiyuk ran 102 slot snaps and 540 snaps out wide. The 49ers are going to be able to move him all around the formation and he should be one of the most exciting rookie receivers in 2020.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady unfazed by disguised coverage
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady's 8.5 touchdown-to-interception ratio versus disguised coverage is the league's best mark since 2016, while his completion percentage of 69.1 in those same situations ranks fourth over the same span. Last year's starter, Jameis Winston, posted marks of 1.23 and 65, respectively.)

Footballguys view: Brady has always been one of the best in the game in the mental aspect of playing quarterback, which is possibly the most important attribute of a passer. Tampa's rivals would be better off sending extra rushers than trying to cross up Brady with changing looks at the snap.

Patriots | Top QBs working together
New England Patriots QBs Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer have been working out together this offseason.

Footballguys view: That makes sense as Hoyer has been in the system a long time and the team is obviously valuing that at quarterback. Stidham beat Hoyer our for the backup spot last year. Hoyer would probably be better for the fantasy value of Patriots receivers, but either way this will be a bottom 10 pass offense.

Buffalo Bills WR John Brown caught 10-of-26 deep targets from QB Josh Allen in 2019, resulting in a 38.5 completion percentage and 109.5 passer rating on those throws. All the other Bills combined to catch four of Allen's 37 deep pass attempts, greatly contributing to Allen's league-worst 22.2 percent completion rate on deep passes last season.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook wants extension
Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook wants a contract extension and will skip all of the offseason meeting and training camp until he receives a reasonable extension, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Cook is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is on the books with a $2 million cap hit. He has not yet played a full 16-game season in three years, but Cook did get through 14 games in 2019...ending the year as a top-5 fantasy running back. The two sides have no further discussions on the schedule right now but they should be conversing before training camp.

Cardinals | Kyler Murray expected to work with teammates
Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is expected to work out with teammates at some point this week, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Footballguys view: Murray, like other quarterbacks, is going to organize some workouts to throw some passes and build chemistry for the 2020 season. He got a huge boost to the passing game with the trade for WR DeAndre Hopkins. Murray could be a top-tier fantasy quarterback this year, not only because of Hopkins and the others in the receiving corps, but also because of his athleticism and ability to hurt a defense on the ground.

Steelers | Diontae Johnson difficult to tackle
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson forced 18 missed tackles during the 2019 season, which tied for second in the NFL.

Footballguys view: Johnson was able to do this without QB Ben Roethlisberger for most of his rookie season in 2019. We'll see if he can perform at an even higher level now that Roethlisberger is healthy and will be back out there slinging the rock. Johnson is a WR4 with plenty of upside for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

49ers | Deebo Samuel caused missed tackles
San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel forced 18 missed tackles during the 2019 season, which was tied for second in the NFL.

Footballguys view: Samuel's game is all about run-after-the-catch ability. He's a bully with the ball, hence the nickname 'Deebo.' Samuel regularly tells defenders 'that's my bike punk!' with the rock in his hand. He's just getting started and looks to have a bright NFL future ahead of him.

49ers | George Kittle tough to tackle
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle forced 20 missed tackles during the 2019 season, which ranked first among wide receivers and tight ends.

Footballguys view: Kittle can run through or around defenders. That's what makes him so hard to bring down because as a defender it's tough to line him up. Kittle should continue to dominate in this statistical category once again in 2020.

Seahawks | Freddie Swain signs deal
Seattle Seahawks sixth-round draft choice WR Freddie Swain signed a four-year contract with the Seahawks Monday, June 8, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Swain has an unpolished game but could immediately contribute on special teams as a return man. He led the Gators in 2019 with seven touchdown receptions and has 12 combined over his last two collegiate seasons (he scored once every 4.5 catches at Florida). Swain only had one drop in 2019 and did most of his damage from the slot. His game is rough around the edges but the ball skills and athleticism are there enough for us to keep track of Swain in deep dynasty formats.

Bills | Stephen Hauschka top option for now
Buffalo Bills PK Stephen Hauschka is the leading candidate for the kicker job at this point, according to special teams coordinator Heath Farwell. PK Tyler Bass will need to outperform Hauschka during training camp and the preseason in order to win the job.

Eagles | DeSean Jackson may be top option
Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson is expected to be the top receiving threat this upcoming season if he is able to stay healthy, according to NJ.com's Mike Kaye.

Footballguys view: Let's see how this shakes out with the Eagles receiving room in 2020. Jackson can still fly and get down the field in the blink of an eye but he needs to stay healthy to be effective as he only stayed on the field two games in 2019. We'll see how a healthier Alshon Jeffery can bounce back this year and also see the introduction of 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor. Right now, Jackson is the third Eagles WR coming off the board. Reagor's current ADP is WR49 (11.03), Jeffery is WR56 (12.05) and Jackson is WR60 (14.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Seahawks | Carlos Hyde understands role
Seattle Seahawks RB Carlos Hyde said he knows that he will be competing for the No. 2 running back job and that RB Chris Carson is the starting running back.

Footballguys view: Hyde is coming off a 1,000-yard season on the ground last year with the Texans but he's a clear reserve in Seattle. Hyde should be able to win that no.2 job in training camp, making him a high-value handcuff for Fantasy GMs with deep benches.

Seattle Seahawks RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) said he believes he is on track in his recovery from shoulder surgery and thinks he will be ready for training camp.

Footballguys view: Hyde may be ready for training camp, but the Seahawks are likely to ease him into action. He's there to be the primary backup to Chris Carson and they'll want him available at the start of the regular season. Hyde is a seasoned veteran who doesn't need a ton of work in camp or the preseason.

Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers is planning voluntary workouts with some of his teammates in Indianapolis next week, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Rivers gets a fresh start with the Colts in 2020. His game looked nearly shot last year with the Chargers as he was throwing picks left and right. With a much better offensive line and plenty of weapons around him in the rushing and passing attacks, we could see Rivers enjoy a bounce-back season. Fantasy GMs are looking at him as a low-end QB2 with a current ADP of QB19 (12.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Agreed I don't think anybody will sign Kaep even though I think that he should be a backup in the league somewhere. The league will say the right things but they still won't sign him.

Jets | Frank Gore gets it done on inside runs
New York Jets RB Frank Gore averaged 4.6 yards per carry on runs in between the guards as a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2019 - tied for the ninth-best mark among all players with at least 100 total carries.

Footballguys view: Gore does what he does best -- grind and pound in between the tackles. He'll be working as the primary backup to Le'Veon Bell in 2020 and should get some work on rushing downs, including some time near pay dirt and on third-and-short situations.

Giants | Saquon Barkley shut down on perimeter in 2019
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley averaged only 2.1 yards per carry on runs outside the tackles in 2019 after picking up 4.4 yards per attempt on such runs as a rookie.

Footballguys view: The Giants had a poor offensive line last year and that's one of the reasons why we saw Barkley struggle at times in year two. Add in the fact that he was banged up for most of the year and missed three games, and you can see why Barkley's numbers didn't get close to the amazing output he had as a rookie in 2018. With an improved offensive line and full health, Barkley could easily be in for a bounce-back season in 2020.

Redskins | Adrian Peterson still running strong
Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson compiled a broken tackle percentage - the total number of broken tackles on rushing attempts divided by the number of carries - of 17.1 in 2019, marking the third consecutive year he has reached or topped that mark.

Footballguys view: Peterson looks like his old self on the football field. He has the size/speed combination that makes him tough to bring down once he builds a head of steam. Washington has a jam-packed backfield but there is still a role for Peterson, one that would make him a RB5 for Fantasy GMs.

Colts | Marlon Mack kept offense on track
Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack ranked fourth in the league with 67 first downs rushing in 2019.

Footballguys view: Mack is a hard-charging running back who gets it done on rushing downs. He's getting some help this year as the Colts selected Wisconsin star RB Jonathan Taylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Mack and Taylor will split time on first and second downs while Nyheim Hines should still contribute as the primary pass-catching running back for the Colts in 2020.

Cardinals | Kenyan Drake adept at moving the chains
Arizona Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake picked up a first down on 42 of his 123 carries with the team following his trade from the Miami Dolphins in 2019, leading to a league-best first-down rate of 34.1 percent (among players with at least 100 rushing attempts).

Footballguys view: Drake was fantastic working in the Cardinals offense. Now, heading into the full season as 'the man' with the Cardinals we should see Drake perform like a RB1 for Fantasy GMs. He has a current ADP of RB5 (1.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Ravens | James Proche getting familiar with his QBs
Baltimore Ravens WR James Proche caught passes from QBs Lamar Jackson and Trace McSorley last week in south Florida. This week, he is doing the same with QB Robert Griffin III.

Footballguys view: Proche was dominant for SMU over the last two seasons snaring 209 passes and a whopping 27 touchdowns. He's a reserve receiver for the Ravens this season as the 2020 sixth-round pick needs to learn more nuance as a route-runner. Proche is dominant when tracking the ball downfield and can make difficult catches seem routine. We'll monitor him in deep dynasty formats.

49ers | Chunk plays common for George Kittle
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle has gained at least 15 yards on 69 plays since 2017 - the second-highest total of any tight end over that span - according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: Kittle is incredible dangerous because of his big-play ability. His size is tough to deal with but so is his speed. Kittle remains tough to match up against and should remain a defensive coordinator's nightmare in 2020.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce no stranger to big plays
Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has gained at least 15 yards on 100 plays since 2017 - 31 more than any other tight end over that span - according to Pro Football Focus.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs know how to use Kelce at his best. These numbers and big plays will continue as the team brought back 10-of-11 starters from the offense that won the Super Bowl.

Bears | No luck after contact for David Montgomery
Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery averaged 1.6 yards after contact as a rusher in 2019 - tied for the second-worst mark among qualified rushers.

Footballguys view: Montgomery has size but he did nothing when contacted. We'll see if the team can spring him better holes to help him build a head of steam that will help these after-contact numbers. Montgomery is a RB2/RB3 for Fantasy GMs in 2020 with a current ADP of RB23 (4.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Patriots | Sony Michel provided little after contact
New England Patriots RB Sony Michel averaged 1.6 yards after contact as a rusher in 2019 - tied for the second-worst mark among qualified rushers.

Footballguys view: Michel's yards-per-carry average went from 4.5 as a rookie to just 3.7 last year. His fantasy value is limited by the Patriots usage of a RBBC which does not feature Michel much at all as a receiver out of the backfield.

Buccaneers | No question Ronald Jones is the starter?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones drew raves from the coaching staff for how he played near the end of the 2019 season, and beat writer Mark Cook believes that he doesn't 'think there is any question at this point that (Jones) is the starting running back ... unless he completely melts down in (training) camp - or gets injured.'

Footballguys view: Jones is at the top of the depth chart but there is still buzz about the Bucs adding another veteran running back to the mix. We'll see if someone like Devonta Freeman ends up with the team and how any RB added would change the role for Jones.

Giants | Darius Slayton set for big year?
New York Giants WR Darius Slayton could have a sophomore season comparable to Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (2018) or Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (2013), according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com. Rosenblatt bases those comparisons on Slayton's rookie production of 740 yards, eight touchdowns and 48 receptions while working with fellow rookie QB Daniel Jones.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Slayton can take that next step. Injuries to Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard opened the door for Slayton in 2019 and the rookie came through in a big way. This year, Slayton is the slot receiver and that makes him a WR3/deep flex play with upside in 2020.

Eagles | Miles Sanders to be true workhorse
Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders is expected to carry the load in the backfield in 2020, with the team's decision to not address the position in free agency being a sign of head coach Doug Pederson getting away from his usual running back by committee approach, according to Geoff Mosher of Inside the Birds.

Footballguys view: Sanders has a three-down skill set and doesn't need to come off the field. He looked great as a rookie in 2019. He's now the lead back with Jordan Howard moving on. The team may add a veteran backup like LeSean McCoy before the start of the season, but that shouldn't take away from Sanders workhorse role.

Falcons | Todd Gurley endorsed by OC
Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley can be argued to be 'the best back in the game,' according to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter Tuesday, June 9.

Footballguys view: That's a pretty bold claim, but Gurley has been in that echelon before. Can he regain his pre-injury form? That's the largest question for Gurley and the Falcons this year.

Jets | Sam Darnold organizing workouts for skill positions
New York Jets QB Sam Darnold is organizing an informal three-day passing camp for key skill position players expected to include RBs Le'Veon Bell and Frank Gore, WRs Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder and Denzel Mims, and TE Chris Herndon. The workouts will start Thursday, June 11, at Bommarito Performance System in Aventura, Fla.

Footballguys view: It's always news when a quarterback gets together with his weapons. This is something many quarterbacks do in July between the end of OTAs and the start of training camp. This year in the virtual offseason, more and more quarterbacks are getting together with their receivers to build chemistry. The Jets have put better weapons around Darnold this year and he needs to start playing up to his potential in 2020.

Saints | Jameis Winston staying confident
New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston said he still believes in himself after going from a starter in 2019 to competing for a backup job with the Saints in 2020. 'I know what I'm worth,' Winston said. 'And I know day in and day out, without publicly coming in and saying it, that historically I'm one of the best quarterbacks to play the game.' Winston went on to say he's eager to work his way back up to a starting role.

Footballguys view: Winston is not clearly the backup to Drew Brees. The former no.1 overall pick will have to compete in training camp with Taysom Hill to be the backup. Winston had over 5,000 yards passing last year but shouldn't see the field too much this year unless Brees gets banged up.

Falcons | Hayden Hurst impressing new QB
Atlanta Falcons TE Hayden Hurst was called the 'fastest and most athletic tight end' QB Matt Ryan has 'ever played with.'

Footballguys view: Hurst was a first-round pick with the Ravens a couple of years ago but he was outplayed by Mark Andrews and shipped off to the Falcons earlier this year. He's an athletic tight end who can get open down the deep middle seam. From an athletic profile, he's an improvement from last year's starter Austin Hooper. With Hooper moving on in free agency, the Falcons were prompted to add Hurst. He could be a top-10 fantasy tight end in 2020. His current ADP is TE10 (9.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook would accept $13 million per year
Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook could receive a contract offer in the range of $13 million per year from the team, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN. Sources said it's an offer Cook 'would gladly take.'

Footballguys view: He is on the books for $2 million in the final year of his rookie contract and is looking for an extension. The $13 million per year number is lower than what Christian McCaffrey signed for, but Cook has a long injury history that needs to be taken into account. Deals get done at deadlines, so we'll see if the Vikings budge when training camp rolls around.

Philadelphia Eagles second-round pick QB Jalen Hurts is unlikely to be thrown into packages, at least early on, in the 2020 season, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Kaye.

Broncos | KJ Hamler has to clean up drops
Denver Broncos second-round pick WR KJ Hamler had nine drops last season at Penn State. 'That was something that we looked at,' said Broncos president of football operations/general manager John Elway. 'I think that when you looked at his ability to catch the ball, it's not because he doesn't have good ball skills. Obviously, he's got just the concentration drops, which are the easy drops that you don't concentrate looking in. ... We felt like we could coach him through that.'

Footballguys view: Hamler had more drops than anyone else in the FBS in 2019. He's got a small catch radius, so passes have to be on the mark and in stride for Hamler to gather them cleanly. We'll see the rookie compete as the no.3/slot receiver for the Broncos behind Courtland Sutton and fellow rookie Jerry Jeudy. Hamler's speed and big-play ability make him a player we love to watch in dynasty formats.

Footballguys view: Henderson is going to compete to establish a pecking order in the backfield with Todd Gurley moving on to the Falcons. His main competition will be rookie Cam Akers and veteran Malcolm Brown. All three have differing skill sets, and this may end up being some form of a three-headed RBBC.

Raiders | Derek Carr plays close to the vest
Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr has led the league in percentage of throws between one and 10 yards in each of the last two seasons (minimum 200 attempts), attempting 59.3 percent of his passes in that range in 2018 and 58.8 percent in 2019.

Footballguys view: Carr doesn't want to push it down the field that much. His game might change a bit this year...if he wins the starting job. Carr has to compete with Marcus Mariota for the top spot on the depth chart at the quarterback position. If he wins, Carr is going to get to throw to rookie first-round pick Henry Ruggs III. His game is all about speed and taking the top off the defense. That should help Carr (or Mariota) be better when attacking downfield.

Footballguys view: The Kliff Kingsbury offense is all about using short passes to march down the field. There will be deep shots as well, but quick passing and RPO action is the hallmark of what the Cardinals want to do on offense. Expect that to continue in 2020.

Footballguys view: Akers is an exciting rookie running back to watch. He's got a good rushing style which features contact balance and vision. Akers is not as good of a receiver as you'd like and will be working in a RBBC this season. We'll see how he stacks up against Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown in training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: Another quarterback working with his receivers here. Insert the standard 'this should help chemistry' take. However, with Goff there needs to be improvement off a down season in 2019. He threw the heck out of the ball but was not an efficient passer. Goff is a QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs.
