They're still around. You eat 10 of the 48 oz steaks you get autographed football.

Nothing but respect for him as a football coach and as a man. R.I.P.

When I was big into trying all the best steak houses in the 80s and 90s, I was in Miami on business.
Went to Shula`s near the beach, think it was in a nice hotel. Very cool table side presentation with all the cuts displayed on a cart. I had high expectations. I remember being disappointed with my steak and never went back.

The only place on my list that I never got to try was Peter Luger`s.

    Most unbreakable record in sports.
Most wins by an NFL coach:328

Bill Belichick is active at 278-not sure hes going to threaten this record however

Shula won an NFL-record 347 games, including including playoff games. He coached the Dolphins to the league's only undefeated season (17-0) in 1972, culminating in a 14-7 victory over the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII.

The Dolphins repeated as champions the next season, beating the Minnesota Vikings 24-7 in Super Bowl VIII, the third straight title game Miami had played in; the Dolphins lost 24-3 to the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl VI.

In all, Shula guided the Dolphins to five Super Bowls, including losses to the Redskins (27-17 in Super Bowl XVII) and San Francisco 49ers (38-16 in Super Bowl XIX).

    RIP Coach

Ripkens streak is one of 5 records that will never fall. 56 game streak by DiMaggio, Ryan's KO mark, Cy Youngs wins and losses the other.

    Chamberlain's 100 points for NBA.

Every other sport has 0 unbreakable. In NFL some coach will pass Shula as the league expands the seasons.

i think 56 could be broken just by the sheer number of opportunities

ripken and ryans strikeout record dont have a chance to be beaten

his wins and losses? i mean you could easily see a starter only going 5 innings in the future so i wouldnt say those are unbreakable

    Terribly sad day.

As a life long Dolphin Fan, "The Old Man" was as much about the growth of South Florida as he was one of the greatest
    NFL Coaches of all time...

Loved the way he commanded respect

    He's on Mt. Rushmore....

He was "My" coach when I was 10....and still coach at 35 when we already had 3 kids....

Was upset the way I felt he was treated at the end, but look what the Cowboys did to "The Hat...

Replaced, coincidently, by the same guy in both cases .....( There's a trivia question for ya)

He will always be remembered as a great leader, a winner, the only coach to go undefeated in a season...( Yea I said it so friggen sue me)... and a some time "Stiff Prick", but always, a model of consistency.

    Much Respect
    Rest in Peace
