Seems like he is going to be highly motivated after being cut, could be a really good signing assuming he is healthy.

    Saturday Update

Bengals | Cincy happy with current QB situation
The Cincinnati Bengals do not have plans to sign a veteran quarterback this offseason, according to head coach Zac Taylor. Starting quarterback Joe Burrow is 23 years old and backups Ryan Finley and Jake Dolegala are 25 and 23, respectively.

Colts | Michael Pittman Jr. to play the X
Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. is expected to be the X-receiver, according to general manager Chris Ballard. 'So we see Michael as being an X-receiver and being the kind of guy you can line up and go one-on-one with,' Ballard said.

Browns | Rashard Higgins' signing official
Updating previous report, free-agent WR Rashard Higgins (Browns) officially signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns Friday, May 8, worth $910,000.
Footballguys view: Higgins should be the #3 receiver this year, but that's a very small role in Kevin Stefanski's offense, which should utilize two tight ends on most snaps. Higgins appears to have gotten no interest on the open market from anyone but his old team. The regime change gives him a new shot after he appeared to be frozen out of the offense last year.

Patriots | Devin Asiasi under contract
New England Patriots third-round draft choice TE Devin Asiasi signed a four-year contract with the Patriots Friday, May 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Asiasi was a late bloomer who has potential as a two-way inline tight end. He has more fantasy promise of the two tight ends the Patriots took in the third round and could have a role in the offense this season.

Giants | Cooper Rush reworks deal
New York Giants QB Cooper Rush has agreed to restructure his contract, which takes his base salary from $2.133 million to $1.25 million. The Giants have added some guaranteed money in the contract.
Footballguys view: Rush has a connection to offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and could make the team as the third quarterback behind Daniel Jones and Colt McCoy.

Packers | Josiah Deguara to have a fullback role?
Green Bay Packers TE Josiah Deguara also will play a fullback role that is more of a hybrid of the two positions. 'We will try and emulate some that stuff in terms of how the 49ers use (Kyle) Juszczyk,' LaFleur said.
Footballguys view: Deguara's fantasy value is obviously capped by this information but it is also very important insight into the offense Matt LaFleur wants to build, one that isn't going to maximize Aaron Rodgers numbers.

Bengals | A.J. Green talks Joe Burrow, health
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he has been in communication with rookie QB Joe Burrow about working out together whenever the pandemic guidelines permit. 'We've been talking back and forth. We were talking (texting?) yesterday and I know he wants to get together and throw somewhere,' Green said. 'I told him wherever he is, we'll come to him. I don't know where, when, how. It's all who can fly where and when. He's the quarterback. He makes his location and we have to get there.' When asked about a timeline, Green said, ''We'll see,' before pivoting to speak on his health. 'Whatever happens is going to happen. When the time comes, I'll be in the best shape to play my best ball this year no matter what happens. The best shape of my life.'
Footballguys view: Green has to be excited about his new quarterback even though the Bengals didn't give him a long-term contract, choosing instead to use the franchise tag with no apparent intention to commit to more than one year after taking Tee Higgins with the first pick of the second round. Green is available in the 5th/6th round now, cheaper than he has ever been.

Ravens | J.K. Dobbins contract terms
Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins' four-year rookie contract is worth $5.729 million total and includes a $1.726 signing bonus.
Footballguys view: Dobbins could be an elite fantasy running back next year, but this year he will share with Mark Ingram, Justice Hill, and Gus Edwards. He's still worth a bench stash in redraft leagues if the price is right. He could benefit from an Ingram injury or just be so good that he demands more touches as the season goes on.

Bills | Gabriel Davis signs rookie deal
Buffalo Bills WR Gabriel Davis on Friday, May 8, signed his four-year rookie contract.
Footballguys view: Davis can win contested balls at the catch point and he has enough speed to threaten the deep part of the field. He could take John Brown's spot when his contract is up after 2021.
    Link to story

Bills | Jake Fromm agrees to terms
Buffalo Bills QB Jake Fromm on Friday, May 8, agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract.
Footballguys view: Fromm could be an improvement from Matt Barkley at backup quarterback, although he is the opposite of Josh Allen in tools and approach to the game. The Bills could look to trade him later in his rookie contract if he develops well and generates some future starter buzz.

Bengals | Joe Mixon has iron grip
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon is the only NFL running back with 500-plus carries and no fumbles since 2018, according to Pro Football Focus data.
Footballguys view: Mixon is set to be a quality late first round pick in an improved Bengals offense as long as he doesn't hold out.

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette a YAC monster
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette ranked fourth among running backs in 2019 with an average of 2.99 yards after contact per attempt.
Footballguys view: Fournette is going to have a smaller role in the passing game with the arrival of Chris Thompson and it's not entirely clear that he'll start and end the season with the team. Maybe they can use this stat as a selling point to a potential buyer.

49ers | GM touts Jimmy Garoppolo
San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo received a solid vote of confidence from general manager John Lynch during a recent podcast interview with a team beat reporter. 'He (Garoppolo) takes a lot of heat for a guy who had excellent numbers and brought his team to the Super Bowl last year,' Lynch said. 'We thought Jimmy was a big reason we were at the Super Bowl. That, I guess, gave us more cause to go look a little deeper. What we said was, 'We got the answer right in the building.' And that's exciting for us because we think Jimmy's best ball is in front of him, for a number of reasons. Physically, he'll be another year away from the knee injury. Experience at that position is so critical, as you can file in the bank experiences that you've gone through and say, 'OK, I've seen this before.' That only comes through going out there and competing.'
Footballguys view: Garoppolo didn't seem to get that same vote as the team admitted considering Tom Brady and many thought they would have went after Kirk Cousins eventually if the Vikings didn't extend him. We'll be watching Garoppolo early in the season to see if his confidence is shaken at all after he let a lead slip away in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl and missed a potential go ahead score late in the game on a deep ball to Emmanuel Sanders.

    Sunday Update

Bengals | Joe Burrow hasn't signed deal yet
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has not signed his contract with the team because he is in a holding pattern due to the coronavirus pandemic. He is expected to receive a signing bonus of $23.9 million once he is able to officially sign, according to spotrac.com.

Eagles | Jalen Reagor capable of more?
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor received accurate passes on 30.7 percent of his snaps at TCU in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cowboys | CeeDee Lamb dominant from the slot
Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb gained 605 yards on 25 catches from the slot at Oklahoma last season.

Bengals | Cincy pushing Joe Mixon extension
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon is 'the type of guy you want to lock up to a long-term deal,' according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Seahawks | Will Dissly on track for opener
Seattle Seahawks TE Will Dissly (Achilles) said he expects to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Footballguys view: Dissly is a talented player but his first two seasons in the league have each been shortened by a major injury. Because of a knee injury as a rookie and this Achilles' injury from last year, Dissly has only played in 10 games in two pro seasons. If healthy, Dissly has talent to ascend to the top of the depth chart. However, the team signed veteran Greg Olsen in free agency and should be the lead tight end for Seattle in 2020.

Seahawks | Stephen Sullivan will be used at TE
Seattle Seahawks TE Stephen Sullivan will initially be used at tight end even though the team lists him as a wide receiver, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Footballguys view: Sullivan played tight end at LSU, pairing with Thaddeus Moss to give the Bayou Bengals a nice receiving duo at the position. He plays like a super-sized wide receiver and does a good job of finding soft spots in a zone. Sullivan is buried on the depth chart but we'll keep an eye on his progress in super deep dynasty formats.

Titans | Ryan Succop could still return
Free-agent PK Ryan Succop (Titans) could still be an option for the Tennessee Titans if PKs Greg Joseph and Tucker McCann struggle during training camp, in the opinion of TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt.

Patriots | Cam Newton still a possibility
Free agent QB Cam Newton remains a signing possibility for the New England Patriots in the opinion of Mike Lombardi of The Athletic. 'If Newton's medical and price tag aligns with the Patriots' salary cap thinking, I would never rule them out as potential suitor,' Lombardi wrote. 'Newton could play well in New England. He would have to accept the structure and culture, but his love of football and his love of winning would allow him to adapt.'
Footballguys view: Lombardi has a close friendship with both Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels. When he speaks on the Patriots, we all should listen. Reports have recently speculated that Newton would be willing to take a backup deal like Andy Dalton (Cowboys) or Jameis Winston (Saints) recently did. However, if added by the Patriots we could see Newton winning the starting job over second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and journeyman Brian Hoyer. Stay tuned.

Broncos | Courtland Sutton had top share
Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton led all wide receivers in 2019 with 42.93 percent of his team's air yards, according to NFL.com's Next Gen Stats.
Footballguys view: That was because Sutton is an emerging talent...and because the Broncos didn't have much else to throw to in 2019. That's all changed in 2020. The Broncos added not one but two receivers in the first two rounds of the draft. Jerry Jeudy (Alabama) was considered by most to be the best receiver in this class. K.J. Hamler (Penn State) was the second-round pick and is electric as a slot receiver or returner. They'll boost the Broncos passing game this season. While Sutton is still the top target, he may not get as large of a target share because of the improved talent around him at the WR position.

Cowboys | Dak Prescott's tag stands
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will not have the franchise tag offer rescinded by the team, Cowboys director of player personnel Stephen Jones said Friday, May 8. 'Absolutely not,' Jones said on the Pro Football Talk podcast. 'Dak's our quarterback for the future. Obviously, this hasn't been the easiest thing. As Jerry says, 'As money gets bigger, deals get harder.' Certainly, we're talking a significant amount of money here which he so deserves. Absolutely not. Dak's going to be our quarterback this year. He's our quarterback for the future. We think the world of him. He represents our franchise in a very positive way in terms of what we want as a leader of our team. He's just an outstanding man, and we would never rescind the franchise tag.'
Footballguys view: The tag stays in place because it gives the Cowboys protection. They have until July 15th to get the long-term deal done or else Prescott will play on a one-year, fully guaranteed contract. The team really has little leverage in this situation. Some will point to the signing of Andy Dalton as added leverage but we don't see it that way. Prescott is a fine quarterback who will be one of the highest-paid players at the position. Expect a deal to get done near mid July.

49ers | Jerick McKinnon rehab update
San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) plans to work out this offseason at Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson's gym in Houston, as he continues to recover from a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. McKinnon said his knee feels normal and he hasn't experienced any pain or soreness recently. He has been doing a lot of running, including hill sprints, as well as balance work since being medically cleared to resume working out in February.
Footballguys view: McKinnon signed with the 49ers in 2018 and has not played a down of football for them. Over the last two seasons, McKinnon has missed time with this knee injury. He accepted a restructured contract and a pay cut earlier this offseason just to stay with the team. The backfield is jam-packed with talent, so McKinnon's chances of making the 53-man roster is not guaranteed. We'll see if he can stay healthy and make the squad in 2020.
