NFL arranges workout for Colin Kaepernick in Atlanta

The NFL has arranged a private workout for Colin Kaepernick this Saturday in Atlanta that all 32 teams are welcome to attend, according to a memo obtained Tuesday by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Kaepernick confirmed the workout in a tweet posted later Tuesday evening.

Colin Kaepernick✔@Kaepernick7I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.

Kaepernick's workout will include on-field work and an interview. Video of the workout and interview will be made available to all 32 teams, as well.

Several teams have inquired to Kaepernick's readiness to play football, and Kaepernick and his representatives have expressed his desire to return to the NFL. The league has discussed possible steps with Kaepernick's camp, which emphasized that he is ready to work out for and be interviewed by NFL teams.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports, per league sources, that Kaepernick's workout will be run by scouting combine personnel and former NFL coaches. Any teams on hand can also hold interviews with Kaepernick, per Wyche.

Kaepernick, who last played for an NFL team in 2016, filed a grievance through the NFLPA against the league on Oct. 16, 2017. The grievance between Kaepernick and Eric Reid against the NFL was resolved in February. Specific terms, including finances, of the settlement were not released given the confines of the agreement.

Kaepernick is one of those QB's who relied much on his legs to succeed, and when those go, so goes the rest of his game.

I'm going there to see the workout. It's only 15 min from my house. Should be fun to see him back.

What a joke. Sounds like the NFL is trying to finally get rid of the Colin Kaepernick "problem" by arranging this workout, even though they settled for millions already.

They invite all teams on short notice, whether they show or not, so now nobody can ever say the NFL teams didn't work him out or try him out.

They give Kap 2 hours to respond to the offer, that's it.

He turns it down, he can no longer bitch and no one can say he needs a shot. He accepts it, and he works out possibly for very few but they can say it was a workout for every team or at the very least that the NFL gave him another chance.

They give little notice to anyone, want to hold it on a Saturday before NFL games, etc.

Like it or not, it's a brilliant move by the NFL who could use not only a few quarterbacks but will also benefit from the the final end to the Kap saga.

As I wrote a few years ago several times, that was the point of his lawsuit, and one of the reasons why they settled. Out of thirty-two (32) starting NFL QB jobs and thirty-two (32) main backup QB roster spots, there was AT LEAST ONE (1) of those sixty-four (64) fools at that time that he was better than. They didn't want to be bothered with him, and colluded against him. He got paid.

This workout fiasco is sort of silly. It's a showcase for someone who probably can't crack a one or a two QB spot now, and DEFINITELY no owner wants to eat crow again.

Pro-Kaep narrative after a good workout:
He looks great! He should get a starting QB contract immediately!!!

Anti-Kaep narrative after a good workout:
It's just a workout, don't read too far into this. He's basically been training for 3 years, and essentially practicing workouts, not a game. Backup QB money is the best he should get.

Pro-Kaep narrative after a poor workout:
It's clear the league wanted to ambush him with short notice. They are shady and only confirming that they're bad people. Kaep got screwed. He should be able to dictate the terms of his workouts.

Anti-Kaep narrative after a poor workout:
This guy sucks. He's had 3 years to prepare for this, and couldn't even put on a good show in front of a couple gm's and coaches.

Just can't see Kop-a-lick getting a job even though he is better than a few dudes on some teams like Was, and Chi.
What is going to happen when ever team says thanks for the workout and I think the Canadians need someone for the
    Grey Cup.

    Workout?

Not one person can tell me this fukin clown can be a starting QB in the NFL. That guy wasn't very good years before. If the 49ers defense wasn't the best the NFL this fuk wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs. He is another QB that road his defense to the championship. He couldn't even throw a ball and he never will. It is embarrassing and I hope they bring him back just so we see how pathetic this clown is.

This is TOP 5 the stupidest thing I've ever read in my life. Anywhere, ever.

Even the Right wing KKK sbr members would admit he's being locked out.

Elways offered him a deal and wanted him to play for 7 Mill a year after coming off a superbowl appearance just over a year before.

This is true with Smith as well. I have watched every niner game minus a few regular seaon games for 25 years.

Smith needed a stellar line, Frank Gore, an elite defense that went wasted, great special teams and kicking.

Kap could surge back and did in the playfoffs, nfc championship game, and the Superbowl.

Smith basically handed it off and threw to Vernon Davis, and once in blue moon crabtree.

You saw the same shit in Kansas City.

He's aryan like you guys though so you love him.

My assumption is that this "workout", as arranged by the league, fills some conditions of the settlement and release stemming from the litigation.

No team will sign him, the "collusion" officially denounced. And by the way, Kaep got next to nothing monetarily from the NFL.

Didn't Kaepernick opt out of his contract with the Niners in 2017? It's not like he got kicked out of the league.
