NFL Player News - Week of 7/1/19

SEA - QB Russell Wilson named most underrated

    Source: ProFootballFocus.com - Mike Renner

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is the league's most underrated quarterback, in the opinion of Pro Football Focus analyst Mike Renner.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson is underrated because the Seahawks offense doesn't make him the centerpiece of the attack. This also keeps him near the bottom of the QB1 tier even though he has proven top five potential when the offense is less run heavy.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott, Dallas trending up?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

If Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott carries over his upward trajectory from the second half of the 2018 season and the postseason, the team's offense could reach the 'next level,' in the opinion of Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott is already undervalued in fantasy leagues. If he takes another step with the help of a reinvigorated offensive line and additions to the passing game, along with Kellen Moore calling what will hopefully be a more creative offense, then he'll be one of the biggest hits of this year's quarterback picks.

PIT - Confidence growing in WR Donte Moncrief

    Source: PennLive.com - Jacob Klinger

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Donte Moncrief is entering 2019 training camp as the team's most-experienced wide receiver and is drawing the praise of receivers coach Daryl Drake and others in the organization. 'One thing that he's doing right now, he's playing with a lot of confidence,' Drake said. 'And Ben has confidence in him. So we just got to continue for him to grow and continue for him to do the things that we ask him to do.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief is establishing trust with his new coaches and teammates, which is a good thing, but he has been a chronic underachiever in previous stops at Indianapolis and Jacksonville. He's on the fringe of draftable player in typical redraft leagues, but could get squarely in the late round mix with a good camp and preseason.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny headed for breakout?

Source: NFL Network - Terrell Davis

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is a prime candidate for a breakout 2019 season in the opinion of NFL Network analyst Terrell Davis. 'The second-year back battled nagging injuries (finger, knee) in 2018 but is ready to prove why he was a first-round draft pick,' Davis wrote recently on NFL.com. 'With his new approach, expect Penny to make the most of his opportunities, giving him a real shot at taking over the starting job at some point in the first half of the season. As the RB1, Penny's athleticism and natural ability to be full display this fall in Brian Schottenheimer's run-first offense.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny probably won't displace Chris Carson atop the depth chart in camp after Carson looked every bit the part of a #1 back last year, and it's debatable who has more physical talent and ability after watching Carson blossom last year. Davis is right that Penny could grow his role this year, but Carson is the incumbent and the Seahawks didn't seem inclined to make depth chart decisions based on draft investment last year.

GB - GB never made offer to WR Randall Cobb

Source: Wisconsin State Journal - Jason Wilde

Dallas Cowboys WR Randall Cobb said that his former team, the Green Bay Packers, never made him a contract offer during free agency. He waited until after fielding offers from other teams to see if the Packers would change their mind and reach out to him, since he had interest in rejoining the club. Cobb ultimately accepted a one-year, $5 million offer from the Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is another situation where the Packers may have moved on from one of Aaron Rodgers receivers before Rodgers would have liked. We can't blame the Packers here because Cobb had so much trouble staying at full speed during his second contract and he probably won't be worth near five million dollars unless he does.

CIN - RB Giovani Bernard likely to play key role

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard 'is reportedly lining up all over the field' as head coach Zac Taylor aims to implement 'an unpredictable offense with myriad formations and personnel arrangements,' according to NFL.com's Grant Gordon.'We've got a good backfield right now with Joe (Mixon) and Gio to start. It's good to get them both out here and take the load off of each other and help the young guys come along. Happy with what I am seeing from both of those guys. They are dialed in and focused. We are in good shape with those guys,' Taylor said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard is good enough to start for some teams and he's an excellent receiving back. He costs next to nothing in drafts right now and should be drafted simply on the Joe Mixon handcuff value. If Bernard can establish a larger role without Mixon getting hurt, he could have weekly PPR flex value.

DET - Big numbers for WR Kenny Golladay?

    Source: NFL.com - Reggie Wayne

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay could top 1,200 receiving yards as the No. 1 option in the passing attack, according to Reggie Wayne of NFL.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay was up and down as the #1 last year and suffered in the efficiency department when Golden Tate was traded and Marvin Jones went down. If Danny Amendola and Jones stay healthy this year, Golladay could take a hit in targets, but get a bigger bump in efficiency.

CHI - QB Chase Daniel eyeing backup gig

Source: The Athletic - Adam L. Jahns

Chicago Bears QB Chase Daniel is the favorite to win the backup quarterback job, according to Adam L. Jahns of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Daniel was serviceable as the starter last year when Mitchell Trubisky went down, going 1-1 and throwing for at least 230 yards and a score in each game. The biggest winner if he ends up having to start this year will be Tarik Cohen, based on who Daniel favored last year. Cohen had 19 catches for 201 yards and a score in those games.

KC - QB Chad Henne set for backup role?

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs QB Chad Henne is likely to win the backup quarterback job, according to Brooke Pryor of The Kansas City Star.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

May we all pray that we don't see Henne this year unless it is in Week 17 again.

BUF - Jason Croom missed opportunity

Source: The Buffalo News - Jay Skurski

Buffalo Bills TE Jason Croom's (hamstring) hamstring injury that sidelined him for the majority of spring practices cost him an opportunity to prove he deserves a spot on the 53-man roster, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Croom is a converted wide receiver and the Bills have opportunity at tight end after free agent signing Tyler Kroft went down with a foot injury. McDermott's words are to be heeded, however, and Croom has some catching up to, especially with third round pick Dawson Knox impressing and offering wide receiver level athleticism at tight end.

    Tuesday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott to meet with commissioner

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is scheduled to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell Tuesday, July 2, to discuss an off-field incident he had in May, according to a source. Elliott was detained during the incident but was not arrested.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elliott could get a game or two off as a reminder that he is a previous offender under the league conduct policy even though this incident would not have been a big deal if a player without a previous suspension was involved. It would probably drop him to the bottom of the elite running back tier, but not out of the top five players overall.

PIT - RB James Conner expecting similar workload

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner notes that while 'no deep discussion' on his role for the 2019 season has taken place, he is expecting a workload similar to the one he had last season when carry the ball 215 times and recorded 55 catches in 13 games.'First and foremost, I'm 100 percent healthy now. We'll cross that bridge (in regards to how heavy his workload will be) when we get there. ... The game plan will be different each week. I know I'll be a big part of it and have a big role. As far as specifics, we don't play it like that,' Conner said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That Conner broke down under that workload shouldn't be lost on the Steelers and they added a between the tackles back they love in the fourth round this year who should help spell Conner. Jaylen Samuels was also very effective after Conner went out, so Conner shouldn't get worked quite as hard this year. That doesn't mean he won't deliver on ADP as the Steelers offense has been very good at creating strong value in the lead running back.

BUF - WR John Brown is favorite target of QB

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Nate Mendelson

Buffalo Bills WR John Brown quickly became a frequent target of QB Josh Allen during offseason practices, and he even received an endorsement from former NFL QB Carson Palmerto be a No. 1 wide receiver.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is the most advanced receiver and he has the deep speed to harness Allen's arm strength. He's the Bills receiver to target in the late rounds until further notice.

BUF - QB Josh Allen impresses in offseason

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Nate Mendelson

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen enters training camp as the unquestioned starter under center. He impressed his teammates with the deep ball during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. Allen spent more time looking to use him arm and less time scrambling.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Allen can develop more as a passer, the offense could take a big step forward even though it may limit his weekly fantasy upside. He could support 1-2 wide receiver to fantasy relevance, although the Bills have four viable targets and the identity of those receivers could change week to week.

TB - RB Peyton Barber still the man?

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber is 'certainly likely' to lead the team in rushing, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bucs rushing game hasn't exactly been fertile fantasy soil lately, and all signs point to Ronald Jones getting more work this year even though Barber may stay atop the depth chart. If anyone is going to greatly overachieve ADP this year in this backfield, it's Jones, but the more likely correct answer is probably none of the above.

NFL - Marcus Simms works out for teams

    Source: DraftAnalyst.com - Tony Pauline

West Virginia WR Marcus Simms measured 5-foot-11 3/4, 188 pounds at his workout in front of 16 NFL teams Monday, July 1. He was clocked at 4.49 seconds, 4.45 seconds and 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also recorded a 36-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10-foot-2 1/2 broad jump.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Simms has good acceleration and could get some consideration in the late rounds of the supplemental draft. Teams will get the benefit of having a player in the building a year before the pick would have gone on the clock if they decide to take Simms.

SF - TE George Kittle targeted heavily in the slot

    Source: Pro Football Focus

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle was targeted on 24.4 percent of his snaps in the slot - fifth among tight ends with at least 70 snaps in the slot - according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers slot receiver job is going to be divided up between Trent Taylor, second-round pick Deebo Samuel and maybe even Richie James, along with Kittle. This might make it difficult for Samuel to have a big first year impact.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders aiming for Week 1

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles') feels Week 1 is a realistic return date, and that he can return to Pro Bowl form.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders is by far the most experienced receiver on the Broncos roster, so that should help him establish quick chemistry with new quarterback Joe Flacco. He still need to get some practice time in this summer to accomplish that, so we'll be watching this. If Sanders can be ready for Week 1, he should be the most valuable Broncos receiver as long as he's healthy.

IND - WR Deon Cain has fans in Indy

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts WR Deon Cain has excited the Colts' brass with his talent. 'You guys know we were very excited about what Deon showed, how quickly he picked things up and the playmaking ability that he showed,' head coach Frank Reich.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cain might have been on his way to starting last year before his ACL tear. He might not be ready for the season and the Colts can bring him along slowly with Devin Funchess in tow on a one-year deal. With a good 2019 Cain could be plugged in as a starter in three wide sets in 2020.

NYJ - TE Chris Herndon in line to start

Source: NJ Advance Media - Matt Stypulkoski

New York Jets TE Chris Herndon is pegged to open the season as the starter at tight end. Head coach Adam Gase referred to Herndon as a 'unicorn' with his rare combination of talents.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herndon made a big splash as a rookie tight end and could trade off big weeks with a good trio of wide receivers. Gase did try to make Mike Gesicki a better blocker last year instead of focusing on his receiving talents, so hopefully he doesn't have similar designs for his usage of Herndon.

CIN - CIN buying in on QB Zac Taylor

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard said the team is buying in to head coach Zac Taylor's plan. 'Just getting accustomed to the new playbook and accustomed to the change,' Bernard said. 'Everybody is really trying to understand how coach Taylor wants this team to be (run.) I think everybody is really buying in.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The offense should be better this year, although losing first-round pick Jonah Williams, who was slated to be the left tackle, is a big blow. Taylor will bring over ideas from the successes of the Rams, who have a similar group of skill players to the Bengals and a quarterback who is a good extension of the coach on the field.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary worked with first team

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Nate Mendelson

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary split first-team reps with RBs Frank Gore and LeSean McCoyduring organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. The competition for snaps should heat up heading into training camp and the preseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There has been a lot of speculation about the Bills cutting LeSean McCoy and his six plus million dollar price tag before the season, and this item won't cool down that buzz. It's still likely that the Bills backfield won't create one back with consistent weekly value.

NO - WR Cameron Meredith on bubble?

Source: The Athletic - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) will need to prove his healthy during training camp if he wants to make the 53-man roster, according to Larry Holder of The Athletic, and Holder believes the Saints 'can't wait' on Meredith much longer.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Meredith hasn't been able to get back his pre-injury form since his 2017 ACL tear. Ryan Pace and the Bears appear to have made the right move not matching the two year, $9 million restricted free agent contract the Saints gave him last year. He has since taken a deep pay cut on this year's salary to avoid release.

NO - RB Javorius Allen's spot in jeopardy?

Source: The Athletic - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints RB Javorius Allen isn't likely to make the 53-man roster, according to Larry Holder of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is a merely serviceable back, and with more youngsters coming into the league every year, what he offers isn't in demand. He could still matter if injuries push him into a role in a good offense, so getting this familiarity with the Saints could be important later in the season if injuries strike, even if he doesn't make the team initially.

TEN - PK Ryan Succop dealing with injury

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans PK Ryan Succop (undisclosed) did not participate in minicamp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kickers mechanics are finicky and can get thrown off by injuries. If Succop isn't healthy in camp, the Titans could look elsewhere for a kicker to begin the season. He has been average after signing a long term deal, so the team could move on from him eventually with a 3.4 million dollar price tag this year than only goes up over the last two years of his contract that expires in 2021.

TB - WR Scott Miller shows off range

    Source: Buccaneers.com - Carmen Vitali

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Scott Miller 'lined up all over the field' during minicamp and made catches in traffic, according to Carmen Vitali of Buccaneers.com, and Vitali believes Miller could absorb some of the workload that Tennessee Titans WR Adam Humphries handled last season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breshad Perriman has been hurt a lot during his career and was already sidelined during the spring. If Perriman misses time, Miller could be first in line for deep ball targets. He's a name to remember in the late rounds of dynasty drafts and on waiver wire watch lists.

CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky comfortable, confident

Source: The News-Herald - John Kampf

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky said he feels more comfortable running head coach Matt Nagy's offense this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Trubisky should be better in year two under Nagy and Nagy has said that his quarterback has gone from 101 to 202 and is doing things he couldn't do last year earlier in the offseason. The Bears offense had a good first year under Nagy until Trubisky got hurt and the whole unit could take a step forward.

    Wednesday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott not expected to be suspended

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is not expected to be suspended after meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday, July 2, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The league has yet to make a decision but we'd be surprised if Elliott was suspended. Elliott was detained in May for an off-field incident in Las Vegas, but he was not arrested.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson not concerned with drama

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - George M. Thomas

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson shrugged off comments made by QB Baker Mayfield this offseason about Johnson's desire to be traded. 'I don't really concern myself with that,' Johnson said at a charity event for teammate WR Rashard Higgins. Johnson said he would address the issue at training camp if asked.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In a press conference earlier this offseason, Mayfield put Johnson on blast saying things like "You're either on this train or not." and "He's gotta do his job. He said he's a professional. I hope he does his job." Several Browns veterans came to Johnson's defense after Mayfield comments. It sounds like Johnson isn't worried about that right now. With the Kareem Hunt situation, perhaps the Browns continue to hold onto Johnson and not seek to trade him.

PHI - No change to style of RB Josh Adams

    Source: PennLive.com - Daniel Gallen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams won't be asked to change his running style, according to assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley. 'Hell no. Nah, Josh is who he is. I like him, too. Once again, competitive runner, another good running back that's in our room. You go back and you watch some of the film last year, Josh was out there, he really picked it up,' Staley said. 'He was able to step right in and be starter.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams was the team's leading rusher in 2018 as an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame. He is a big back with a swift running style who makes a living between the tackles. Adams does not stand out as a pass-catcher and may struggle to earn a spot on the 53-man roster this season.

PHI - RB Boston Scott excites coach staff

    Source: PennLive.com - Daniel Gallen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Boston Scott has impressed assistant coach and running backs coach Duce Staley. 'I'm very high on Boston. Being able to see him in OTAs, I'm excited. I'm excited about quick he is, the way he picks up the offense. He does look like a little (Darren Sproles) there at times. But I tell you, he's working hard, he's dedicated. He's watching film,' Staley said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Scott was a sixth-round pick out of Louisiana Tech for the Saints in the 2018 NFL draft. He spent most of his rookie season on the Saints practice squad before the Eagles signed him away in December of that year. Scott is a jump-cut specialist as a runner who does a good job securing the rock. He's got a low center of gravity and that helps him change direction without losing much speed. Scott is not a pile pusher and too often is tackled by the first defender he meets. We'll continue to monitor him in deep dynasty formats.

IND - TE Eric Ebron looks to build upon career year

    Source: ColtsWire - Kevin Hickey

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron posted career highs with 66 receptions, 750 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns in 2018, and he looks to take another step forward in the final year of a two-year deal with the Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There is a ton of financial incentive for Ebron to build upon his career-best numbers from 2018. Ebron had groin surgery earlier this offseason but he was running full speed at Colts minicamp and is set for training camp. His current ADP is TE7 (6.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry works out with his QB

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (undisclosed) posted video footage of him working out with QB Baker Mayfield in California. He said it was his 'first time in (two and a half) months running routes.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It didn't happen unless you post a video on social networking. In all seriousness, this is a good sign for Landry as he's been sidelined with an undisclosed injury this offseason. He should be good to go for training camp and is a WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs. Landry has a current ADP of WR24 (5.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

WAS - WR Josh Doctson expects to test free agency

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson said he expects to test the free-agent market next year after the team declined the former first-rounder's fifth-year contract option. 'I think I'm hitting free agency next year. I won't be the first, won't be the last,' Doctson said. 'It's nothing to be sad about, be mad about. Someone wants you there, so it's all love.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doctson's pro career has not gone as planned, mainly due to injuries and inconsistencies. The 26-year-old will play out the 2019 season on a cap hit just under $3.2 million. Last year, with Washington desperately needing playmakers, he caught just 44 passes for 532 yards and two scores. Projecting him for similar numbers this year is fair.

GB - WR Geronimo Allison poised to break out?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison has a chance to be 'dangerous' in head coach Matt LaFleur's offense, according to WR Davante Adams.'He's the guy who's been working a lot in the slot, and he's used to playing a little more outside, but this is making him a little more dynamic. I think Matt has really tested him or challenged him to widen it out so he can play multiple spots. . . . Him being able to move around right now and be healthy, be himself and just play, being able to have all those things, it's going to be dangerous,' Adams told the team's website.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allison is the first player to watch in the Packers WR corps for those guys not named Davante Adams. We'll be monitoring the offense closely in the preseason to see who the No. 2 target is going to be. Allison or second-year pro Marquez Valdes-Scantling seem to be the most poised for a breakout from the group of receivers behind Adams. Right now, Allison is going off the board at WR38 (8.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

JAX - QB Nick Foles focused on perfecting footwork

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles has made it a priority to get his footwork right during offseason workouts, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.'If you go back to high school or go back to college, I always have talked about my feet because they are always (a concern). I'll always work on my feet. Playing for coach (Andy) Reid and coach (Doug) Pederson, it's always about rhythm. That's how it is always taught. They are great at the QB position. 'Flip' (John DeFilippo) was my coach, my quarterback coach with Frank Reich in Philly. They always harp on feet and target line, and anytime you can keep your feet under you and you work the pocket, you can buy some time. Football is not 7-on-7; 7-on-7 is a three-hitch throw, a five-hitch throw. Real football is when you have to work the pocket, move, get hit, do all of the crazy throws from bad hips and all that. But you want to always work on your feet and keep them moving,' Foles said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Almost everything with a quarterback (even arm strength) comes down to footwork. It sounds like Foles is trying to improve his footwork the best he can. The Jaguars are hoping Foles is a massive upgrade over former starter Blake Bortles. He should be and that puts the Jaguars in the mix when it comes to the playoff conversation in the AFC.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes says he's well on his way to shedding three to five percent of his body fat by training camp as he's well into an offseason running and weight-lifting regimen. 'I've gotten more muscular and (have) less baby fat, I guess you would say,' Mahomes said in a Yahoo Sports article published Tuesday, June 2. 'So that's been the big thing for me -- sculpting my body in the best way possible so I can go through the season and feel just as fresh at the end as I did at the beginning.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's going to be fun to see what Mahomes can do for an encore in 2019. Last year, Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards passing. This year, Mahomes may not quite reach those numbers but he's still an elite-level passer and one of the best in the game. Mahomes has a current ADP of QB1 (3.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

LAR - WR Cooper Kupp excelled out of slot

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (knee) led the NFC West in 2018 with an average of 2.42 yards per route run out of the slot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

More advanced data here that backs up what everyone already knows...Kupp is really good out of the slot. His November ACL surgery uncovered no additional damage and he should be ready for the season opener. He's a low-end WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs in 2019. Kupp is currently going off the board at WR20 (4.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

HOU - D'Onta Foreman far ahead in progression

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is 'light years' ahead of where he was last season, according to running backs coach Danny Barrett. Foreman is down to 230 pounds and more explosive after he battled back from an Achilles' injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the big back here...now he just needs to stay healthy. The team really likes Foreman and he could be in line for more playing time if he can stay away from the injury bug. There is a chance that Foreman could push Lamar Miller for the top spot on the depth chart later this summer in training camp...stay tuned.

PHI - RB Wendell Smallwood continues to progress

    Source: PennLive.com - Daniel Gallen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood had a strong offseason program and assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley is excited about his role in the offense. 'I'm excited about Wendell. Like we talked about earlier, we have a great room, a great group, and they're all competitive, and they know they're competing against each other, which is awesome,' Staley said. 'Wendell's picked his game up during OTAs. We all know he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He's just getting better within the offense, learning our offense even more.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not giving up on Smallwood in dynasty formats. Deep dynasty that is. Smallwood is buried on the team's depth chart at the moment and is no lock to make the 53-man roster. The Eagles acquired veteran Jordan Howard via trade and rookie Miles Sanders in the draft this offseason, so that pushes a guy like Smallwood down the depth chart.

PHI - RB Jordan Howard fitting in nicely

    Source: PennLive.com - Daniel Gallen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard has impressive assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley in his brief time with the organization, showing great attitude and soft-spoken personality. 'That's what you want. He's a pro, and we knew that kinds of going after him a little bit,' Staley said. 'He was a pro, so he came in, went straight to work. It's hard to get three words out of him, but if you get three words out of him, you're doing good. So I'm very pleased with him.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard is going to be the banger between the tackles for the Eagles in 2019. The veteran knows how to grind out tough yards between the tackles, and he should be the lead ball-carrier for the Eagles. It's a muddled backfield with good talent from backs with various skill sets. However, we think Howard is the lead guy with rookie Miles Sanders working in as a change-of-pace option.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders impresses with his hands

    Source: PennLive.com - Daniel Gallen

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders has impressed running backs coach Duce Staley during offseason practices with his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. 'I think he's good. I think he's good. I think that you talk to those guys, they'll all tell you that...to get better, which you want those guys to think that way, be humble, especially when it comes to catching the ball and understand where to be,' Staley said. He added he is very pleased with the progress from Sanders.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders has explosive playmaking ability and can be a threat in the open field as a receiver out of the backfield. He's got decent hands but we really love his ability to stack moves together. Sanders has great feet and shows no problem setting up defenders and executing several moves (juke, spin, etc) to create his own space. We think the rookie from Penn State works his way into the lineup as a 'lightning' option to go along with Jordan Howard's 'thunder' in 2019.

Cowboys | No suspension for Ezekiel Elliott Wed Jul 3, 02:21 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has been informed that he will not be suspended by the NFL for his off-field incident in May.

Footballguys view: Good news for Elliott, the Cowboys and Fantasy GMs here. Elliott met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier in the week to discuss the off-field incident where the superstar back was detained but not arrested in Las Vegas. Now clear of any suspension, Elliott is a lock to be a top 4 pick in any fantasy format.

    Friday Update

GB - WR Davante Adams hard to contain in the slot position

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams has averaged 2.32 yards per route run while lining up in the slot position since 2017 - the third-best such mark for any receiver with at least 235 routes run out of the slot over the last two seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited to see what new Packers head coach Matt LaFluer can do with all the weapons on offense. The biggest weapon in the passing game is Adams and he's a WR1 for Fantasy GMs once again this year. In fact, Adams is a top-10 pick in any format with a current ADP of WR2 (1.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NO - WR Michael Thomas unstoppable in the slot position

    Source: Pro Football Focus

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has averaged 3.63 yards per route run while lining up in the slot position since 2017 - the best such mark for any receiver with at least 235 routes run out of the slot over the last two seasons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drew Brees has a favorite target in Thomas and that's going to continue in 2019. Thomas might be on the board near the turn between the first and second round in most fantasy drafts. His current ADP is WR3 (1.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill led with big plays in 2018

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill led all receivers with an 11.47 yards per target average in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans ranked second at 11.29, while Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton and Los Angeles Rams WR Brandin Cooks tied for third at 10.95. Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones rounded out the top five at 10.10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At the end of June, Hill had a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and now we wait for any sort of suspension to be handed down. An anonymous Chiefs official believes any Tyreek Hill suspension would be a "maximum" of four games. Most expect the league to make a decision on Hill before the start of training camp.

TEN - RB Derrick Henry tough to bring down

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry forced 45 missed tackles as a runner in 2018 - tied with Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson and Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson for the most in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry can make defenders miss with moves, but with his size there are defenders who don't want anything to do with tackling him. When Henry builds a head of steam, he is tough to bring down. The Titans finally figured out how to use Henry about halfway through the 2018 season. Hopefully that plan for Henry continues from the jump in 2019.

NO - QB Drew Brees toyed with man coverage in 2018

    Source: Pro Football Focus

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees compiled a passer rating of 108.0 against man coverage in 2018 - the third-best mark in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints use 'sail' concepts early and often when passing the ball. This simple route combination on the outside can confuse defenders whether they're in zone or man. Brees is now 40-years old but has shown few signs of slowing down. He's still a low-end QB1 for Fantasy GMs in 2019. Brees has a current ADP of QB7 (7.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - Man coverage no match for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick - then with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - recorded a passer rating of 108.3 against man coverage in 2018 - the second-best mark in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick has had positive flashes in nearly every stop of his pro career. Then, his game will go in the tank. He's the best quarterback option for the Dolphins right now and should open the season as the starter. If (when?) he struggles, the Dolphins could give the reins over to second-year pro (and former first-round pick) Josh Rosen.

KC - QB Patrick Mahomes lit up man coverage in 2018

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes compiled a passer rating of 120.7 against man coverage in 2018 - easily the best mark in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mahomes can fit any throw in any sized window. He has a rocket arm and can throw from any arm angle. Mahomes may not match the eye-popping numbers he had last season (50 TDs, 5,000 yards), but he's still a top-tier QB1 for Fantasy GMs in 2019.

JAX - WR Terrelle Pryor on the bubble

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Terrelle Pryor could have trouble making the team if WR Marqise Lee(knee) returns healthy during camp, in the opinion of ESPN's Michael DiRocco, who says the top five spots are 'pretty much settled.' That means the team would need to carry six wideouts or Pryor would need to beat out someone like WR Chris Conley, who DiRocco noted has been the 'best receiver in OTAs,' to make the club.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pryor might be on his last legs in the pros. His 1,000-yard receiving season is far in the past even though it was just three seasons ago (2016). Pryor is now on his fourth team since that season. The Jaguars are deep at receiver and there would likely need to be an injury above him on the depth chart for Pryor to make the team.

CLE - TE David Njoku working out with teammates

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku has been working out with QB Baker Mayfield and other teammates leading up to training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Njoku has a ton of natural talent and is going to be a key part of the Browns passing attack in 2019. He's scored four touchdowns in each of the last two seasons and would need more looks in the red zone to outperform his low-end TE1 projections. Njoku has a current ADP of TE10 (8.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

    Saturday Update

BUF - TE Dawson Knox could start Week 1

Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox could open the season as the starting tight end but likely will need to impress during training camp and the preseason in order to earn the job, in the opinion of The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills have seen their TE corps get banged up this offseason. Guys like Tyler Kroft (broken foot) and Jason Croom (undisclosed) are dealing with minor injuries while the rookie Knox has been making the most of his opportunity. A third-round pick from Ole Miss, Knox has a nice size/speed combination and can be a threat as a receiver. He's dealt with nagging injuries dating back to his days in high school, so Knox will need to stay healthy in order to make the most of a potential starting job for the Bills.

TEN - Heavy boxes didn't faze RB Derrick Henry

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry ran for 553 yards when the defense had eight or more men in the box in 2018 - the third-best mark in the league - according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans offense was all about Henry over the last half of the 2018 season. He should see more stacked boxes this season, but we're expecting him to handle that...again. In the final year of his rookie contract, Henry is set to be used like a true bellcow back and he's a borderline RB1 for Fantasy GMs. He could outperform his current ADP of RB20 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley solid against stacked fronts

    Source: Pro Football Focus

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley ran for 560 yards when the defense had eight or more men in the box in 2018 - the second-best mark in the league - according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barkley had one of the best rookie seasons for a running back in NFL history. The Giants passing attack isn't going to be much of a threat with either Eli Manning or Daniel Jones at quarterback. That means their offense will be as much of Barkley as possible. He's a top-4 lock in any draft in any format. Barkley's current ADP is RB1 (1.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott excelled against heavy boxes

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott rushed for a league-high 722 yards when the defense had eight or more men in the box in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elliott is simply one of the best backs in the game today. He can thrive in all sorts of situations and that makes him a fantasy force. There is no suspension coming from an incident in Las Vegas earlier this year, so Fantasy GMs are thrilled to take Elliott off the board in the first couple of picks of any draft.

NYJ - WR Jamison Crowder fits well

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder has run more than 75 percent of his routes in his career from the slot, according to Pro Football Focus. Head coach Adam Gase has said they'll lean on receivers inside the numbers in his scheme. 'He has an explosiveness after the catch that you don't see a ton of,' Gase said. 'A lot of the slot receivers, historically have been not guys that are threats down the field. He's a threat down the field, but at the same time he can catch it and create, which is going to be interesting for us because we've never had a guy who can really juice it up.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder is an interesting fit for the revamped Jets offense. He'll give second-year quarterback Sam Darnold a reliable target on underneath routes. The Jets have quite the group of pass-catchers ahead of Crowder in the pecking order. Guys like RB Le'Veon Bell, WR Quincy Enunwa, WR Robby Anderson and TE Chris Herndon should get plenty of looks in 2019. Crowder is currently going undrafted in 12-team PPR leagues, so keep him on your waiver wire speed dial if he goes undrafted in your league.

PIT - WR Diontae Johnson could rise

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Chris Adamski

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson could ascend to the No. 2 receiver by the middle of the season, or he could be inactive each week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's one helluva difference for the rookie. We think Johnson could end up as the second-best WR on the Steelers roster, but it may take time for him to get up to speed in the pros. Johnson has a skill set reminiscent of Broncos (and former Steelers) WR Emmanuel Sanders. He's got speed to burn and is not afraid to make difficult catches over the middle or near the sideline. The Steelers have JuJu Smith-Schuster as their lead receiver and guys like Johnson, James Washington, Donte Moncrief and Ryan Switzer will compete to establish a pecking order behind the superstar. We are scooping up the rookie Johnson in all dynasty formats but we need to see how this WR corps shakes out in training camp and the preseason before making a play for Steelers receivers not named Smith-Schuster in redraft leagues.

NYG - QB Eric Dungey working as TE

New York Giants QB Eric Dungey intrigued the coaching staff and is being tried out as a tight end.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dungey was undrafted out of Syracuse earlier this year. He's got quite an athletic profile while measuring in at 6'4" 225 pounds. Dungey is athletic and versatile, so we're expecting the Giants to keep a spot open for him on the practice squad.

NYG - Backup TEs fighting for spot

Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz

New York Giants TE Scott Simonson and TE C.J. Conrad will compete for the backup spot in camp. Conrad will be given a long look after an impressive spring, while Simonson thrives as a blocker.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Simonson is a big-bodied blocker and that's about it. Conrad worked all over the field in college at Kentucky. He's got good hands and does a good job of using his frame to keep the ball away from defenders who are close. We'll monitor both, but only in super deep dynasty formats.

DET - Chris Lacy saw plenty of action

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Chris Lacy worked with the first-team offense throughout spring practices, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes Lacy is 'in the mix' for a spot on the 53-man roster.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lacy was undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2018. He lasted only a couple of weeks with the Patriots before he was waived and the Lions picked him up. Lacy is a size/speed (6'3" 205 pounds, 4.5 second 40-yard dash) prospect with upside who has been getting first-team looks with Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones sidelined.

    Sunday Update

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs could hold out

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs may not be at camp when rookies report July 23, according to The Athletic's Vic Tafur, who writes that 'negotiations have not been going well' between the team and the 24th overall pick. Per Tafur, the issue is regarding the payment schedule of the signing bonus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With a rookie wage scale, lengthy holdouts for rookies don't really happen anymore. However, there are some times when things get a little dicey in negotiations. This seems to be one of those times. We have a feeling the two sides will be able to work something out at some point in the preseason (at the latest).

CIN - WR John Ross to hit reset button

Source: The Athletic - Paul Dehner Jr.

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross said his number change this offseason was part of a plan to 'start everything over' and reboot his career.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross needs to start over after not yet playing up to his potential in two seasons as a pro. He could take some of what he produced last season (seven touchdowns) but add more receptions as the Bengals No. 3 receiver. Ross had all those scores last season but on only 21 catches. We still monitor Ross in dynasty formats but redraft players are only going to have Ross as a waiver wire speed dial guy.

NYJ - TE Chris Herndon studying up

    Source: NewYorkJets.com - Ethan Greenberg

New York Jets TE Chris Herndon said he has been focusing on film study and learning the playbook this offseason. 'Before you can get out there and make plays, you have to know where to be and that's probably the most important part,' Herndon said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herndon is a favorite sleeper of some Fantasy GMs out there. The Jets offense should look much better with a more mature Sam Darnold and Le'Veon Bell taking away a lot of attention from the defense. Herndon can be a safe and reliable target for the Jets young quarterback. He's a TE2 with upside who has a current ADP of TE16 (13.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in line to start?

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick showed impressive leadership skills during offseason workouts and was clearly the better quarterback during practice, according to one Dolphins player.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Fitzpatrick has much more experience than second-year pro Josh Rosen. We think Fitzpatrick begins the season as the starter, but just like it always happens with him, he could struggle and get pulled later in the season.

NYG - WR Darius Slayton to be used as return man?

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton could be used as a kick and punt returner this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Slayton, a fifth-round pick out of Auburn in the 2019 NFL draft, has speed to burn. A high school track star, Slayton was a big-play specialist for the Tigers in college. However, he just doesn't use his speed to blaze past defenders. Slayton also has great feet, quickness and vision to work well as a return man as he can toy with defenders in space.

NYG - WR Golden Tate to be used as return man?

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

New York Giants WR Golden Tate could be used as a kick and punt returner this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if the Giants choose to use the veteran receiver this way. He should get plenty of work in the Giants small ball offense, so stretching him thin on special teams wouldn't make a lot of sense.

MIN - WR Laquon Treadwell could be done in Minnesota

    Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin

Minnesota Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell is in danger of not making the 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Courtney Cronin. Treadwell, who had his fifth-year option declined, will be a free agent after the season and could be let go in favor of newer options such as WRs Jordan Taylor and Chad Beebe, who have earned praise throughout the offseason.

It would be a costly move for the Vikings as Treadwell has a cap hit of $3.1 million in 2019 with most of it ($2.5 million) in dead money. A first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Treadwell has only one touchdown catch as a pro. The natural talent (size, speed) is there but he's never put it all together. Treadwell is coming off career-best numbers in 2018 of 35 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown. He needs to have a good preseason to make the team.

CIN - More touches for RB Giovani Bernard?

Source: The Athletic - Paul Dehner Jr.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is expected to see 11-13 touches per game in 2019, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, and Dehner expects Bernard and RB Joe Mixon to be on the field at the same time more often this season.

We could see Bernard work into the mix mostly as a pass-catching back. Bernard had 35 catches in 2018 (12 games) but could push for 45-plus catches in 2019. He is a deep flex option for Fantasy GMs in PPR leagues or a handcuff for players who are in deep leagues.

wide receivers seem like one of the tougher positions to predict success from college to the NFL.

Slot receivers really make the difference for teams. If you have a guy that can get open and catch a 6 yard pass Everytime it opens everything up
