Both are probably good enough to be NFL backups, but both also disliked and out of the league because teams are concerned about the backlash for different reasons.

No matter what you think about Kaepernick. The NFL and Roger Goodell fukked up this entire players kneeling in their reaction and their response. Goodell is one of the most hated people in all of sports. He's pompous, arrogant, egotistical and does not listen to his fans nor his players. People hate Goodell on both sides of this issue. Kaepernick did what he thought was right (whether you agree with him or not). It doesn't matter his reasons or his methods. He sat then kneeled but was pretty much quiet in his stance. You didn't see him on news outlets trying to prove his point. Then the NFL black balled him, when they really should have let him play and perhaps suck on the field, so the NFL really look like dickheads, while Kaepernick is vaulted to martyr status. All over a stupid game of football. I really think Goodell might be in cahoots with Kaepernick. They probably staged the entire thing because Goodell can't be this stupid?

The NFL settles huge grievance with Kap and Eric Reid. Roger Goodell fukks up again. Took him long enough and the NFL took a huge PR hit for a couple of years. How does Goodell keep his job? He sucks at his job.
Never bought into that collusion deal, but Goodell is an idiot that is true, he proved that with the Brady suspension.
Didn't hear much about the Eric Reid case, to be honest. So I cant speak to that.
Oh, it was definitely collusion. They were going to eventually lose. Too many bad QBs in the league that proved his case each week. Reid is one of the best safeties in the league and missed an entire year because the owners colluded to not hire him. He just signed a 3 year contract with the Panthers. You might be able to fight Kap not being one of the top 96 QBs in the league, which would have been a huge stretch BUT NO WAY IN HELL could the NFL say that Reid wasn't one of the best Safeties.
Goodell should have handled this shit a long time ago. It should have never hit the streets. The NFL would do well to at least hire Adam Stern as a consultant because they are missing so many marks.

He had chances to play in the CFL, that's still a good league. If you really are passionate about playing, you go where the opportunities are. I don't know much about the Eric Reid deal like I said, but yeah he was still a really talented player.
Don't take my word for it but I read NFL paid him 80 mln or more for the lawsuit.
