both the quarterback and the head coach along with just about everyone else knew this team did not have enough talent to compete in that tough division that they are in. rodgers has no one to throw to with any consistency and the coach knows he is doomed here. just going through the motions now.

I'd take him over Marv Lewis and whoever that dope is in Arizona.

Yep. Upper management of "a publicly owned team" is more interested in surrounding the stadium with ancillary attractions than analyzing on-field personnel.
Packers need the second coming of Ron Wolf.

McCarthy is terrible but A Rodgers has definitely lost a step. He's not going to defy time like Brady. True his receivers are not good but a lot of his passes last night were just terrible. Lots of them falling short and near the ground... almost like he's running out of gas.

Former GM Ted Thompson is to blame. Missed picking talent year after year. Not a single player from 2015 draft class is on Packers roster. Forked over big contract to Cobb, Clay Mathews, and Nick Perry with little contributions from the 3. Also let Dom Capers install a garbage D for way to long. McCarthy will pay the price as a result....Won a SB which is more than what most coaches can say.

Those names are way too high profile. It will be some unknown assistant nfl coach.

Not sure he's the worst, hes hot a ring, multiple championship appearances...

    Basically Bill Cowher.

But Cowher left his team in great shape on an upswing, Mcarthy is left with no options now for quick fix w that Rodgers contract.

With a 10 year vet, 32 year old QB do you really have time to give a new coach a 4 or 5 year deal and wjndow?

They may have to keep him because blowing this up right now is wasting the $125mm you just gave Rodgers.

that's a good point... although the lodge kohler is a decent place to stay, $130/night unless it's a packers game, then it's $1500

His time is done, just hope they have a good plan. Don't need some clown taking over the job and then they're stuck with his useless ass.

I don't see how it's McCarthy's fault. First-year GM Gutekunst either, one year not enough.
It's just how the NFL works, you can't stay elite for so long with hard salary cap.
