we may have an angle with the first game if coaches and teams are looking to improve on last year's weak spots...

These are 2017 year end stats showing league position and I'm guessing that neither Buffalo nor Carolina are likely to try and improve, or work on, their rushing games to start the preseason.

Carolina may be focusing on their rushing defense.

At the same time, Buffalo should be looking to improve on their passing game. So we have a possibly passing focused offense going against a rush focused defense.

Further, in line with that post about the preseason, Buffalo will be testing two QB's under the first team set.

AJ McCarron will likely start but Nathan Peterman will also get reps. Buffalo has three QB's to work out but those two will start behind the first line.

We also have Carolina perhaps wanting to work on their passing game.

Both pass defenses were middle of the pack and they might want to test them, but won't likely reveal too many packages.

In light of some of this, we just might have an Over play on out hands here.

Preseason is easier to beat than regular season. Only true for NFL, I don't bet preseason in other sports.

I also like CAR/BUF OVR 34 -104 (from line listed on the top of the thread). Even up to 35 for me.

Car is 10-3 to the over since 2005 in week 1 of the preseason, and BUF is 3-2 at home in the same situation.

The last 2 times these 2 have met, in week 1 of the preseason 2015 the total was 35.5 and they scored 49.

Then in week 1 of the preseason 2014, with the total at 37, they squeaked out 38.

History is on our side along with circumstances outline earlier in the thread. I'm on anything under 35 as an over bet for my opening pick of the season.

These 2 have only gone over twice since 2005, in 2007, and 2015, which is the last time they've played.

They play 3 times on week 1, in 2008, 2010, and in 2012, all unders.
Be careful however I would try and get some inside on the game plans. I think both of these teams may want to work on offense this year, but typically they don't when they get together

After a push in the HOF game with Ravens-1 (they really should have won that game bigger), I give the Ravens one more try.

Week 1:

Ravens-1
Jets-1.5
Raiders-3
Colts+3
Vikings+1

Got some early nice numbers on a pair of them. Betting against Pete Carroll scares me but one half of starting NFL caliber QBs is really nice to have😁, and personally I really like Reich. Jacoby is also a preseason king.

I got it as early as you could get it! I knew I wanted the Ravens again. They won only by 1 point and pushed but they won the turnover battle by 2 and had the Bears pinned down on their last drive.. I also really like mobile QBs, Lamar and RG3 will play better. Harbaugh has a great Week 1 record. And so on...
