Everson Walls who was the defensive back that was covering Clark became close friends with Clark later.

“When I did that interview, I was very upset about a couple of guys right around the same time. One of them was Gale Sayers health,” Walls said, referring the Chicago Bears Hall of Famer, whose struggle with dementia was also revealed in March.
“That was a childhood hero of mine, someone who inspired all of us to want to be running backs or classy NFL players.
“You talk about him, Dwight and all the victims of this CTE thing. When you put it all together, it is very upsetting, because this was caused by negligence.”
For Clark and Sayers, there is a possibility that playing football might be a contributing factor to their conditions. The Washington Post pointed out that Clark is at least the fifth former NFL player in the last 10 years to be diagnosed with what is also called Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Clark in his original statement said that he didn’t know for sure whether football caused his ALS, but added: “I certainly suspect it did.”
Walls put it in stronger terms.
“The negligence in the beginning that’s upsetting,” he said. “So you have somebody like Gale Sayers. You have somebody like Dwight Clark. You have all of these other players. Junior Seau.
“And what it does is that it just shows the incompetence. And, really, they knew. I’m talking about NFL management — they knew what was going on and the fact that they chose to ignore it. To me, that’s almost unforgivable.”

Great guy. Not fair. I hope Dwight's family donates his brain for CTE research therefore researchers will get a grasp on this situation. It could benefit future generations. Football kills. Such a great sport that randomly destroys lives. No more suffering for Dwight; just his family.

Not to take the focus off of ALS that we need more research on but I just found out a good friend of mine has colon cancer and another friend has throat cancer (and he's never smoked a day in his life). MDAnderson here in Houston is a huge city. Thousands of people every day are dying. Folks dying young are very tragic.

San Francisco kicked the extra point and held on for a 28-27 victory, securing a Super Bowl berth.
Montana reportedly never saw the play happen, as he was knocked to the ground moments after throwing the ball. When defensive end Ed "Too Tall" Jones told Montana, "You just beat America's team," the quarterback's response was priceless.
"Well, you can sit at home with the rest of America and watch the Super Bowl."

This upcoming season is for Dwight. Guy was such a class act.

I met him at a signing a few years back and he's a total Joe. You wouldn't know him from your barber.

Great man. Big smile. Brave and at peace.
