If you were looking for a head coaching job, would you choose Chicago or Detroit?
    Detroit: you gotta win now
Chicago: they have to give you time to develop Trubisky

Detroit has to draft a star running back in the first round, now.
If Detroit had a 100 yard rusher, they would have definitely made the playoffs, but their run game was embarrassing

Chicago on the rebuild. At least 2 seasons from a look at the playoffs. But they have pieces.
A coach could find it rewarding to build this team into a contender in a few years from now.

I hope the Lions don't go after the Patriots coordinators. that would kill them, and end any chance of winning a playoff game in the Matt Stafford era.

Pat Shurmur Vikings O.C. John defilipo Eagles QB coach look like they're going to be the top of the list to go to Chicago. That sounds like a good move for Chicago, imo

Caldwell did not deserve to be fired in Detroit.

The Lions have asked for permission to interview Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel for their newly vacant head coaching position.

Caldwell just could not get over the hump. He failed to win a playoff game. He was a decent Head Coach, but had some real talent at QB but failed to develop the needed talent to support him. I guess the Lions had enough of always being the Bridesmaid.

remember when Caldwell didn't have the Colts ready for any type of onside kick or non-sense in the SB vs the Saints and PAYTON.... remember when he sent out not Adam V, but Matt Stover to try a 50+ yard FG in the SB vs Saints missed and handed Saints great field position instead of pinning them deep?

he sucks. i still remember his same facial expression regardless of the score or situation

Pagano was just as bad as a HC

Surprised about the firing of Caldwell. Didn't even know until I checked this thread.

I honestly don't know who would want to coach the Lions? Dump franchise... no pride.

I'm going to take a wild guess.... Detroit might hire John Fox. That's how dumb Detroit is.

Caldwell might be best coach Lions I’ve had but his in game decisions or lack there of are atrocious. How bout him calling timeout in Jets vs Colts game in the playoffs. Jets were content with attempting a 50 yard field goal to win game. Instead dummy calls timeout and very next play jets complete a 20 yard pass

forgot about that one. peyton's last game as a Colt. he drove them down in FG range Adam made it and Colts were up with less than a min to go. Special teams and bad coaching cost Peyton one last playoff game as a Colt... we had so many injuries and were so beat up but still fought that whole game

jets tho went on to knockoff the #1 seed Pats the next week
