NFL Player News - Week 2

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

ARI - RB David Johnson has dislocated wrist

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Updating an ongoing story, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) has been diagnosed with a dislocated wrist.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He is seeking a second opinion as to whether or not he needs surgery. We could see Johnson put on Injured Reserve due to this injury. In the meantime, fantasy owners left scrambling should target Kerwynn Williams as the top Cardinals back but obviously his value is much lower than Johnson's.

ARI - Arizona signs D.J. Foster

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots RB D.J. Foster was signed by the Arizona Cardinals off the Patriots' practice squad Monday, Sept. 11, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The move was necessary due to the wrist injury of David Johnson. Foster is a receiving back who played both RB and WR during his college career at Arizona State. Kerwynn Williams is the lead back for the Cardinals with Johnson down, and Foster will try to carve out a likely part-time role. He could compete with Andre Ellington for touches.

IND - QB Andrew Luck to miss a few more weeks

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will remain sidelined for several more weeks as he continues to nurse his surgically-repaired throwing shoulder, according to sources. His return to practice is expected to be sooner rather than later, however.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners will have to wait, and in the meantime all projections for Colts players have to be adjusted. We should see Jacoby Brissett start, and there's no clear player he prefers throwing to. The offense should design things for WR T.Y. Hilton to thrive, and Brissett could lean on a security blanket like TE Jack Doyle.

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson likely to start

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is expected to be the starter Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The situation is still being evaluated.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leave it to Bill O'Brien to have quarterback drama. Watson is the quarterback of the future, but he was sitting behind Tom Savage to open the season. Then Savage started to remind everyone why he's Tom Savage and O'Brien made the switch to the rookie. Watson is a little banged up after playing a half against the ferocious Jaguars defense. The offense did have a little more life with Watson in there and he should be the guy going forward....but this is Bill O'Brien after all so anything is possible.

BAL - RB Danny Woodhead's status still unknown

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead's (hamstring) timetable won't be known until Tuesday, Sept. 12, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Woodhead is believed to have suffered a serious hamstring injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens will move forward with a backfield that consists of Terrance West as the starter. Behind him, Buck Allen should play the Woodhead role. They do have Alex Collins and Jeremy Langford on the practice squad now and might bring one of them up.

JAX - WR Allen Robinson done

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (knee) is lost for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He'll have surgery in the coming days.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson is done for the year and he's left some fantasy owners scrambling for help. The Jaguars will continue with the plan of running the ball often with rooke RB Leonard Fournette. Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns and Keelan Cole are their top three wideouts but none carry a lot of fantasy appeal with the current construct of this 'just don't lose it for us Blake Bortles' offense.

DAL - NFL appeals RB Ezekiel Elliott injunction

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's injunction ruling was appealed by the NFL Monday, Sept. 11, to the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Appeals take plenty of time, but the NFL has also asked for a stay on the injuction that Elliott received that allows him to continue playing. This mess is far from over but it looks like Elliott will play past the season opener.

IND - QB Jacoby Brissett could be the starter

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett marched the team 84 yards on five plays, which led to the only touchdown in Week 1 when he entered the game. He's likely the starting quarterback, in the opinion of beat writer Zak Keefer.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anything is better than Scott Tolzien, right? Brissett was added via trade with the New England Patriots before the start of the regular season and he was thrust into action during the season opener against the Rams. The Colts are just waiting for Andrew Luck (shoulder) to be healthy enough to play, but his timeline is a great unknown at this time.

CHI - WR Kevin White will be placed on IR

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (scapula) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list after fracturing his scapula in Week 1, according to head coach John Fox. Surgery is a possibility.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in 2015, White has barely played during his pro career with only 5 appearances so far in the NFL. This injury could require surgery and that likely knocks him out for yet another season. The Bears now have Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton and Deonte Thompson as their top three options at the WR position.

CAR - QB Cam Newton's shoulder is fine

Source: The Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton's (shoulder) surgically-repaired shoulder checked out fine after the Panthers' Week 1 win, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton's shoulder is fine but his fantasy owners may be hurting after a disappointing week to open the season. Like Joe Flacco (back) in Baltimore, it's just going to take some time for Newton to look like his old self. Consider other options at quarterback until we see the Newton that we know and love.

HOU - TE C.J. Fiedorowicz unlikely to play

    Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop

Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is not expected to play Thursday, Sept. 14, against the Cincinnati Bengals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans have three TEs in the concussion protocol. Don't be surprised to see them make a move to add talent to the position.

CLE - WR Kenny Britt might not start this week

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Kenny Britt could be on the bench when the Browns begin their Week 2 game, according to head coach Hue Jackson. When asked if Britt would keep his starting job, Jackson simply said, 'Let's see where we go this week.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners shouldn't be heavily invested in the Browns passing attack. Britt has flex appeal if he's starting but that's about it. Corey Coleman looks like rookie QB DeShone Kizer's favorite target while Britt is a forgotten man.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson still a running back

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson will remain a running back despite not seeing a carry in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Hue Jackson, who added Johnson is still 'very valuable for the run game and pass game.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson played slot receiver for the Browns against the Steelers on Sunday. He's got flex appeal in PPR leagues with this role.

DEN - Denver extends PK Brandon McManus

    Source: John Elway

Denver Broncos PK Brandon McManus agreed to a four-year extension Monday, Sept. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McManus has a powerful leg and is especially prolific when playing at altitude. He's hit 82.9 percent of his field goals during the last few years with the Broncos. They moved on from safety T.J. Ward, an unpopular move for the fan base, but it freed up money to get something done with McManus.

    Hi Folks,

It's not good but at least we have some clarity now on Cardinals RB David Johnson.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the "Cardinals are placing RB David Johnson on IR, per source, but with the chance to return this season."

    https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/9076285876...

Johnson will have surgery this week and is expected to miss 2-3 months according to Schefter.

D.J. Foster was added yesterday by the team and Kerwynn Williams was already #2 on the depth chart. As we said in yesterday's update, we're not overly excited about whoever replaces Johnson. This isn't a Dallas type situation where another RB should instantly have success behind a great offensive line.

If you're thinking long term, Johnson at the end of the year becomes interesting. A couple of things are in play.

#1 - Rehabilitation timelines are estimates. Right now, the talk is 2-3 months. Injured Reserve requires an 8 week absence. But if he comes back strong (and he's shown this offseason the ability to return strongly from injury), it's possible he could be a factor for teams in the last quarter of the season. Right when you need players the most.

#2 - If the Cardinals are out of contention, it's possible Johnson might not rush back and instead opt for a full and complete rehabilitation. It's only one game, but watching Arizona Sunday, it's not unreasonable to think they might be out of it by Week 10 without David Johnson. We'll see.

Personally, I'm holding on to him in my leagues where I have him until we know more about Arizona's plans. Fortunately, as we saw with John Brown this summer, coach Bruce Arians is a straight shooter and not shy about his thoughts on players. My guess is we'll hear more useful information on this from Arians in a few weeks.

Bottom Line - David Johnson is going on IR. With the possibility of a late season return.

Hang in there David Johnson and Arizona folks.

    Wednesday Update

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson will start Thursday

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson will start the game Thursday, Sept. 14, against the Cincinnati Bengals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson is dealing with minor ankle injury this week, but the team wants to move on from Tom Savage. The rookie is their quarterback of the future and it looks like the future is now. Watson came in at halftime in the season opener, started things off with a touchdown drive then things went downhill from there. In order to be an effective starter, Watson needs to improve the accuracy problems he had in Week 1 and in the preseason. Expect the Texans to lean on the ground game with a rookie under center.

BAL - RB Danny Woodhead injury update

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks with his hamstring injury, instead of the initial four-to-six-week timeline he was previously given.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Woodhead should be back this year but in the meantime the team will turn to Buck Allen. Terrance West is the starter for the team and Allen will play the Woodhead role. In PPR leagues, Allen will have flex appeal as the pass-catching back for the Ravens.

PHI - Philly snags PK Jake Elliott from Cincinnati

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

The Philadelphia Eagles signed PK Jake Elliott off the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some were surprised to see Elliott not make the active roster for Cincinnati. He could produce for the Eagles.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson returns to Arizona

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With David Johnson (wrist) on IR, the team turns back to Johnson. They decided to keep Kerwynn Williams over Johnson during the final cuts earlier this year, and Williams should be the lead back in a RBBC. That committee includes Williams, Johnson and Andre Ellington. As you can see, it's a bit of a mess for fantasy owners.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls expected to play

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) is expected to play in the team's Week 2 game, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Seattle's rushing attack was not successful against the Packers in Week 1. Eddie Lacy isn't doing anything to impress, and it was actually QB Russell Wilson who led the team in rushing at Lambeau. This situation is a bit of a mess, and even messier with the return of Rawls. We look at him as a RB3 for fantasy owners.

HOU - TE C.J. Fiedorowicz placed on IR

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fiedorowicz has suffered two concussions within about a month. He's a weapon for the offense that will be missed.

ARI - RB David Johnson officially goes to IR

    Source: AZCardinals.com
Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12. Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) was officially re-signed in a corresponding move.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson will undergo wrist surgery and be out 2-3 months as he recovers. At the earliest, Johnson could return to the field in Week 10 against the Seahawks. Johnson may be back for a run during the fantasy playoffs. Hopefully you have an IR spot in your fantasy league where you can stash Johnson for the time being.

CHI - WR Kevin White officially on IR

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (scapula) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in 2015, White has appeared in only five games during his pro career. Next season will be a make-it-or-break-it year for the young wide receiver. The Bears are thin at wide receiver losing White and Cameron Meredith, and now will turn to guys like Kendall Wright and Deonte Thompson at the position. We should see more targets for RB Tarik Cohen as well.

CHI - Tanner Gentry promoted to active roster

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Tanner Gentry was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're surprised Gentry didn't make the final roster after the preseason. Gentry is a savvy route runner with great body control and he was a standout player for the Bears in the preseason and through training camp. He's buried on the depth chart now that he's on the active roster but we like his value in dynasty leagues.

JAX - WR Allen Robinson placed on IR

    Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Robinson's season is done and the Jaguars will see what they can get out of guys like Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns as their top targets. The offense will continue to feature the rushing attack with rookie RB Leonard Fournette. New Orleans Saints WR Max McCaffrey was signed off the Saints' practice squad to the Jaguars' active roster in a corresponding move.

IND - RB Matt Jones added to practice squad

    Source: NFL.com - Mike Garafolo

Free-agent RB Matt Jones (Colts) was added to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is back with the Colts after spending six days on their roster after they picked him up off waivers when Washington released him. He's on the practice squad and something would have to happen to other RBs on the depth chart (Frank Gore, Robert Turbin, Marlon Mack) before he'd get the call up to the active roster.

CIN - WR John Ross practices fully Tuesday

Source: Cox Media Group - Jay Morrison
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (knee) was inactive Week 1 due to a sprained knee, but he practice fully Tuesday, Sept. 12, potentially putting him in line to make his NFL debut against the Houston Texans on Thursday, Sept. 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ross has speed to burn and he can take the top off the defense in the blink of an eye. Too bad the Bengals offensive line is so bad that QB Andy Dalton may not have time to wait for those downfield routes to develop. We love the skill set Ross has, but he's nothing more than a lottery ticket add in deeper redraft leagues.

Jesus, lol.. think it time for cancer chuck to go!!

So he telling us brissett needs more time to learn offense and his solution to that is to cut his 1st team reps in half? Brilliant!! Maybe colts gonna have to be a pass even tho there so many great reasons to be against cards..

    Thursday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott likely playing Week 2

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is likely to play in Week 2, according to NFL executive vice president of communications Joe Lockhart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That's good news for the Cowboys and bad news for the Broncos defense. Denver was able to slow down Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (54 yards rushing) in Week 1, but Elliott is a different back and a huge test for them up front. Elliott is a must start as a RB1 in Week 2, even on the road against the vaunted Denver D.

ARI - RB David Johnson surgery set for Thursday

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) will have surgery on his dislocated wrist Thursday, Sept. 14, and the team is hoping he returns in December.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Without Johnson in the lineup, the entire makeup of the Cardinals offense changes. They just added Chris Johnson back to the mix, but Bruce Arians hinted on Sirius XM that it would be Andre Ellington getting more work in the backfield. Oh yeah - Kerwynn Williams was already there as the no2 back behind Johnson and he'll obviously get worked in somehow as well. There's no clear-cut handcuff to Johnson, so this is a situation most fantasy owners (and scrambling Johnson owners) should avoid until we get further clarity.

NYG - Odell Beckham uncertain for Week 2

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is considered day-to-day with his high ankle sprain, according to head coach Ben McAdoo.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

High ankle sprains linger, so the team is wisely taking their time with Beckham so he can get as close to full strength as possible. Beckham was able to do some light work before the team's Week 1 game, which McAdoo indicated was a step in the right direction.

ARI - Arizona to give RB Andre Ellington work?

    Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

Adding more context to an earlier report, Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told Sirius XM NFL Radio Tuesday, Sept. 12, he is hopeful RB David Johnson (wrist) can return 'by Thanksgiving or Christmas.' In the meantime, Arians hinted RB Andre Ellington would see work for the Cardinals in Johnson's absence.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just when you thought this backfield was enough of a mess with a returning Chris Johnson to cut into the touches of Kerwynn Williams. Ellington has big-play ability and a long history of getting banged up with increasing touches. This backfield is a mess that fantasy owners should avoid until we get more clarity. Kerwynn Williams looks to be the starter but clearly it's a fluid situation.

ARI - RB Kerwynn Williams will start this week

Source: FOX Sports Radio 910 - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams will be the starting running back this week with RB Andre Ellington serving as the No. 2 running back, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At least we have some clarity now after Arians hinted on Sirius XM that Ellington might be the lead back. Either way, fantasy owners are looking at a two- and maybe three-headed RBBC that includes the newly signed Chris Johnson.

SEA - Seattle ready to see more of RB Chris Carson?

    Source: 49ers.com - Joe Fann

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has 'done really well,' and head coach Pete Carroll is 'anxious to see how he grows with us and if his role can expand as we find out more stuff.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should've already drafted Carson to stash on the bench. Thomas Rawls could return this week, but Carson may be the player that emerges from Seattle's muddled backfield.

ARI - WR John Brown misses practice

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown had five touches in Week 1 on nine targets and one rushing attempt. They're likely giving him a day of rest on Wednesday.

DAL - WR Terrance Williams does not practice

Source: 105.3 The Fan - Mike Fisher

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (ankle) was unable to practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams and the Cowboys will have their hands full with the Broncos defense on Sunday. With CB Aqib Talib matched up against WR Dez Bryant, we should see Williams covered by either Chris Harris Jr. or Bradley Roby. Williams is a WR5 or 'what the heck' flex for fantasy owners in Week 2.

DEN - RB Devontae Booker's work is limited

    Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (wrist) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Booker isn't going to play in Week 2 per head coach Vance Joseph. However, he did participate in the team's 'jog through' on Wednesday. Booker will return in the near future, and that should lower the touches for guys like C.J. Anderson and Jamaal Charles. Anderson is the bell cow for now, but he's on pace for over 300 carries and he's never had 200 carries during a season in his career. The team is likely to move to RBBC when Booker is at full strength.

JAX - RB T.J. Yeldon takes part in full practice

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon (hamstring) took part in a full practice session Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yeldon is only a reserve runner for the Jaguars and nobody in a redraft league should be carrying him. The Jaguars are all about running the ball (to play keep away from their QB, and to play into the hands of their strength -- that defense), but Yeldon is third on the depth chart at best behind Leonard Fournette and Chris Ivory.

JAX - QB Blake Bortles practices in full

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Bortles won't do much as a passer if the Jaguars can help it. They are clearly wanting to run the ball and play great defense in 2017. That's the formula that worked in Week 1 and they want to do that against the Titans in Week 2.

JAX - WR Allen Robinson had surgery

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (knee) underwent surgery this week to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament. Robinson is on the Reserve/Injured list and will not play again this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A second-round pick out of Penn State in 2014, Robinson is set to hit the open market in 2018. Coming off this major knee injury, Robinson's price tag might be low enough for the Jaguars to keep him if they want.

WAS - WR Josh Doctson limited in practice

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doctson isn't going to be in many lineups, and for good reason. He needs to stay healthy and produce before fantasy owners can trust him...even as a 'what the heck' flex.

WAS - WR Jamison Crowder practices in full

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hip) was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An underneath receiver like Crowder could get plenty of work against a fierce defense like the Rams in Week 2. His role has us projecting him as a high-end WR3/flex option for fantasy owners in PPR leagues.

JAX - WR Dede Westbrook has surgery

    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (core) underwent core muscle surgery Tuesday, Sept. 12, according to a Jaguars' spokesman. A timeline for his recovery was not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Westbrook is on Injured Reserve right now but he could be one of the team's 'designated to return' players. With Allen Robinson (knee) out for the year, Westbrook would have a larger role than originally thought. The rookie is dangerous with the ball in his hands and can make crazy catches seem routine.

BUF - TE Charles Clay limited Wednesday

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Clay is a talented veteran but man does he get banged up quite a bit. He plays banged up quite a bit too. The team is wisely resting him with yet another ailment.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy not limited in practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (wrist) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy is the bell cow for the team, and the Bills are going to be as run heavy as they get in the NFL...all with McCoy leading the way. If he's playing, you're obviously starting him every week.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson full go

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson (chest) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson has a tough matchup against the Ravens this week. He plays running back but lined up as a slot receiver for the Browns in Week 1 against the Steelers. With his pass-catching role, Johnson is a RB4/flex option for fantasy players in PPR leagues.

CLE - Full practice for WR Kenny Britt

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Kenny Britt (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Britt may not start for the Browns this week. It doesn't matter because no fantasy owners are rushing to get him into the lineup...even if he does start.

CAR - QB Cam Newton a full participant

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton's shoulder seems ok after the Week 1 contest against the 49ers. He didn't look like himself and it may take some time for Newton to return to being the dominant player we're used to seeing on Sunday.

IND - Indianapolis QBs splitting reps

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QBs Jacoby Brissett and Scott Tolzien will share first-team reps this week until head coach Chuck Pagano named a starter for Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to downgrade Colts skill position players, no matter who starts at quarterback. We'd like to see Brissett get the nod just to see how he looks as the lead QB entering a game. Brissett came in for an ineffective (duh) Scott Tolzien in Week 1.

NE - WR Danny Amendola misses Wednesday practice

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Amendola has had problems with concussions during his career, and his status for Sunday is in question. If he's out, then the team will turn to Phillip Dorsett as the no3 WR behind Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay logs 44 snaps in Week 1

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein
Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay played 44-of-73 offensive snaps in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, while fellow No. 3 receiver T.J. Jones finished with 18.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Golladay had a lot of hype around him in the preseason, and he paid off for the fantasy owners that flexed him in Week 1 with two touchdowns against the Cardinals. Going forward, Golladay should continue to be a solid piece in the offense and clearly a threat in the red zone.

    Friday Update

NYG - Odell Beckham was told his ankle was a 6-8 week injury

Source: ESPN.com - Dianna Marie Russini

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was told his sprained ankle would need six to eight weeks to fully heal. He suffered the injury not one month ago.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the part that makes us nervous about him. We think he's playing and that Eli Manning will all but force him the ball but he's back quick. Of course, the seriousness of his ankle could have been exaggerated given he was also fighting for a new contract. For now, we're sticking with out low-end WR1 assessment. We think he will be a big part of the plan next Monday.

ARI - WR John Brown still not practicing

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was held out of practice for a second straight day Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals offense needs all hands on deck without RB David Johnson. We're not rushing to add Brown to the lineup if he does play against the Colts. Brown played 63 snaps against the Lions in Week 1 but was only able to haul in four passes for 32 yards.

NE - No practice for WR Danny Amendola

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (concussion, knee) remained out of practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect him to stay out, so bump Chris Hogan up in your plans. He should find a lot of space to work with as coverage rolls to Brandin Cook. He should be a nice borderline WR2/WR3 play against a Saints secondary which--how do we put this nicely--is pretty bad.

HOU - TE Gary Barnidge meeting with Texans

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Updating an earlier report, free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) is meeting with the Houston Texans Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think it could be a nice fit, especially with DeShaun Watson taking over for Tom Savage. How much they use him would make the value murky, but worth watching.

BAL - RB Danny Woodhead to IR, out eight weeks

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead (hamstring) is expected to return in eight weeks and was placed on the Reserve/Injured list designated to return Thursday, Sept. 14. He will not require surgery. RB Jeremy Langford was signed to the active roster.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Javorius Allen will get the passing down work, and probably about half the carries. Terrance West will get more of the work and is likely to be able to find more success against the Cleveland Browns. Allen is no better than a flex play this week, though that's more than he was worth last week.

OAK - Full practice for WR Amari Cooper

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (knee) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 14.

The knee was a known issue, and does not impact his value. We expect RB1 production from him this week.

LAC - WR Dontrelle Inman takes part in practice

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Dontrelle Inman (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Inman is too far behind the rest of the receivers for his presence to be fantasy worthy.

LAC - WR Mike Williams remains sidelined

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is unlikely to play this week and really it sounds like the target date for a return is October. Keep that in mind if you're in need of some bench space, as we don't know when in October or how effective Williams will be when he returns to the field.

DEN - RB Devontae Booker listed as limited

    Source: NFL

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (wrist) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Booker is buried behind Jamaal Charles and CJ Anderson, so he won't get much run unless one of them gets hurt. However in terms of depth chart movement this is worth watching.

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just check back to see if Bradford practices fully on Friday. On the road against the Steelers, we've got Bradford as a QB2 in Week 2 for fantasy owners.

DET - WR Golden Tate limited due to finger

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (finger) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Giants have a physical secondary, so Tate and the Lions receivers have quite the challenge coming up on Monday night. We've got Tate as a low-end WR2 for fantasy owners in Week 2.

WAS - WR Josh Doctson limited again

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doctson is only a player we're monitoring in dynasty leagues. He played 20 snaps against the Eagles in Week 1, but he ended up with zero targets. Even if he plays in Week 2, Doctson shouldn't do much and may end up on a limited snap count.

JAX - QB Blake Bortles full go

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (wrist) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cool...and nobody is starting him. The Jaguars offense is all about running the rock with rookie RB Leonard Fournette.

CLE - WR Kenny Britt fully practices

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Kenny Britt (knee) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Britt's starting spot with the Browns is not guaranteed just one week into the season. Even if he starts, we can't recommend Britt as anything more than a WR6 in Week 2 against the Ravens.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson logs full practice again

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson (chest) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Against a tough Ravens defense, Johnson should continue to get plenty of work as a receiver out of the backfield (or the slot) for the Browns. He's a RB4 or 'what the heck' flex for fantasy owners in Week 2.

CHI - RB Jordan Howard limited Thursday

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard is a bit banged up, and he's playing against a swarming Bucs defense in Week 2. We've still got him as a low-end RB1 for fantasy owners in Week 2.

MIA - TE Julius Thomas improving chemistry

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins TE Julius Thomas has improved his chemistry with QB Jay Cutler over the last few weeks and has caught several touchdowns during practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We are still a bit cautious about Thomas as we haven't seen the two of them in action. Adam Gase tends to use his tight ends a lot, and he and Thomas did really well when they were together in Denver. There have also been years when Jay Cutler has helped his tight ends produce a lot of points. We just aren't sure if this is all going to come together and when. Consider him a shaky TE2/TE3 this week, especially as the Rams have a legit defense and Aaron Donald is returning.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook's role will continue

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook will keep being used as a workhorse running back, according to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Cook received 25 touches in the Vikings' Week 1 win.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We were concerned that, after the mishmosh of last year, the Vikings might have forgotten how to use a bellcow back, but clearly Cook is a guy they know what to do with. The Steelers are a tougher test for him, but we loved what we saw from him last week and think he'll be able to have some success even in this game. Consider him a rock-solid RB2 this week despite the matchup.

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 15, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bradford should play, but Week 1 is looking like a likely high point if this knee issue that has caused an MRI and concern affects his play at all. This development could encourage you to break ties against him.

CIN - Ken Zampese relieved of duties

    Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese was fired Friday, Sept. 15. Quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor will assume offensive coordinator responsibilities effective immediately, according to the team's website.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lazor had some time in the Chip Kelly tree and could incorporate some of the concepts he learned while serving Kelly. Lamar Miller was at his best, but perhaps underused. The passing game was safe but on the inefficient side. The Bengals would see Lazor's 2014 Dolphins level production as an improvement right now even though he was fired and Dolphins fans don't have a fond memory of his time coaching their offense.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McCoy getting Friday rest might have been by design for the Bills, but having two issues and needing that rest with his level of workload doesn't bode well for the future. We'll be watching this closely. Mike Tolbert is the handcuff to McCoy as of right now.

CB Anthony Brown replaced Scandrick as the nickel back in Week 1 and Awuzie was starting opposite CB Nolan Carroll. FS Byron Jones (groin) is also listed as questionable for the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

    Sunday Morning Injury Updates

    QUARTERBACK

CAM NEWTON | SHOULDER | Not Listed | EXPECTED TO PLAY

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full
The Panthers are going to limit Newton's throwing reps during practice as they try to limit any chance of recurrent arm soreness. Newton threw only 25 passes last week but seemed to find a rhythm in the second half. He is not listed on the game status report and will play.

    Sam Bradford
    | Knee | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full
Bradford had pain and swelling in his surgically-repaired left knee after Monday night's game. There was enough concern to prompt an MRI on Tuesday, the results of which were not reported. Bradford's return to practice, while limited, is reassuring. It indicates a review of his MRI didn't necessitate an in-person visit to Dr. Andrews, who performed his ACL reconstructions. While Bradford is on record saying there was no cartilage damage with either ACL injury, it's likely that's the concern here. There were no obvious mechanisms of injury during last week's game, though Bradford did throw from awkward angles on some designed rollouts and other plays when he left the pocket.
Mike Zimmer didn't say much about Bradford's Week 2 status but the expectation is the Vikings' quarterback will play. Don't expect to see many designed rollouts this week and it's possible the team will scheme its protections and route combinations differently to limit the stress on Bradford's plant leg. That could mean fewer deep passes and/or a higher percentage of plays where Kyle Rudolph and Dalvin Cook are asked to assist w/ protection. I wouldn't significantly adjust expectations but watch the Vikings and Bradford carefully this week.
***Saturday Evening Update: The Vikings added a third quarterback to the active roster today. The move doesn't expressly mean Bradford will be inactive. He's traveled with the team and there are no reports he won't play. It does mean the team is concerned about Bradford's status and has no intention of getting caught with Case Keenum as the only healthy quarterback. Don't panic here but pregame reports will be eagerly awaited overnight and tomorrow morning.
***Sunday AM Update: Nothing of note so far this morning. Both Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport believe Bradford will play, though Rapoport reports Bradford will be a game-time decision. The Vikings have a 1:00 PM ET start today. I'll cover the notes on pregame warmups closely and update again later this morning.

    Others of note:
Blake Bortles (wrist) practiced this week and will play without limitation. Andrew Luck (shoulder) has been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    RUNNING BACK

LESEAN MCCOY | Wrist / Groin | NOT LISTED | EXPECTED TO PLAY

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - DNP
McCoy's wrist injury is not a concern this week. A contusion suffered during last week's game caused the area to briefly go numb but he quickly returned to play without limitations or obvious ball security concerns. After practicing fully on Wednesday and Thursday, it's safe to consider it a non-issue. The groin injury that prompted the Bills to rest him on Friday could be fatigue or a very low-grade strain. McCoy has a long history of soft tissue injuries and they've been a mixed bag. At times, he's struggled with aggravations while playing effectively through minor limitations at other times. The Bills expressed no concern on Friday. Head coach Sean McDermott called it a rest day and Buffalo didn't list him on the game status report. While the risk of an in-game aggravation cannot be entirely ruled out, all indications are McCoy will play and be able to take his usual workload.

    Jordan Howard
    | Shoulder | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited
The Bears are notorious for withholding actionable information on injured players. Howard was said to be "banged up" last weekend and was limited all week in practice. It's not clear what Howard's shoulder injury may be or how limited he was in practice. John Fox told reporters Howard was injured on his late second-quarter touchdown run. He landed on the outside of his right shoulder. It's not a clear mechanism for an AC sprain; it's possible the injury is to other soft tissue structures in the shoulder joint (labrum, rotator cuff, etc.). That's not much to go on unfortunately but those conditions are likely something Howard would be able to play through and it's reassuring (but not definitive) we didn't hear about specialist visits and imaging studies.
The only beat writer observation is from Rich Campbell, who tweeted he expects Howard to play but implied he wouldn't be surprised if his snap count was affected. The second part of his tweet read as generalization rather than a specific expectation for Howard. What could be most important to the projection on Howard is whether the Bears trust his shoulder to hold up in pass protection. If not, Howard may not see many passing down reps. And the emergence of Tarik Cohen -- five rushes and 17 total touches and targets on 28 snaps -- suggests the Bears have more than viable alternatives if there's any pregame concern.
I'll update with any weekend news but my initial expectation is that Howard will be active and see close to his usual workload with a risk of in-game aggravation and higher sensitivity to surrounding factors (game script, Cohen effectiveness) than usual.
***Sunday AM Update: Jordan Howard is expected to play according to tweets from both Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. Neither provided additional information. I consider that positive. I expect they would have included concern for limitation if they were given that information.

    Jay Ajayi
    | Knee | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full
Ajayi fell in the draft due to concern about early signs of arthritis in his knees. So it's not comforting to see him on the injury report before taking a regular season snap. A full week of practice is reassuring and the Dolphins didn't list Ajayi on the game status report. Without more information, it's difficult to know whether this is a non-issue or the start of a concern that lingers throughout the year. Were it another player, it would be much easier to ignore. I'll watch Ajayi closely but for now, it's reasonable to assume the team is being cautious rather than concerned.

    Thomas Rawls
    | Ankle | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full
Rawls has had two weeks of full practice and is not listed on the game status report. The high ankle sprain should be sufficiently recovered and won't affect his statistical expectation this week -- but the four-deep running back depth chart will. Expect the Seahawks to get Rawls a handful of touches to continue the reconditioning process but he's unlikely to see more than 20-25 snaps or 10-15 touches unless there are injuries or a striking difference in effectiveness.
Others of note: Frank Gore, Mike Tolbert (knee), Duke Johnson (chest), Jamaal Charles (knee), Matt Forte (knee/abdomen), T.J. Yeldon (hamstring), and Chris Thompson (back)have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and expected to play without limitation.

    Danny Woodhead
(hamstring) and Donnel Pumphery (hamstring) were moved to injured reserve and are out for eight weeks. Devontae Booker (wrist) returned to limited practices this week but has been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    WIDE RECEIVER

*ODELL BECKHAM | ANKLE | Questionable | GAME-TIME DECISION | Likely to Play / Limited

Practice Participation: Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited | Sat - Limited [MNF]
Beckham was limited in practice all week. That's an upgrade from last week's participation but it's clear Beckham hasn't fully recovered. Since last week's surprising travel to Dallas and attempt to improve enough to play by Sunday night, the news has continued to be positive on Beckham's availability this week. I think he'll play.
It's harder to handicap Beckham's snap count and statistical expectation. Beckham will undoubtedly draw coverage when he plays and while it's probably incorrect to expect the Giants to plan to use him as a decoy -- why risk your stud receiver who has already missed a critical division game after watching his teammates struggle to get open -- there will be some routes that Beckham is incapable of running effectively. If Beckham plays 60 snaps, there will be plays he has no chance of seeing a target.
What we can't know and what will drive his statistical expectation is how many packages the Giants will run with routes Beckham can separate on and win. We've seen many elite receivers -- Calvin Johnson and Jimmy Graham are notable examples -- who are put in a position to succeed in the red zone and other limited high-leverage situations. While not a high likelihood, that success is in Beckham's range of possible expectation this week.
More likely, Beckham runs 15-20 routes and sees 3-5 targets. If he avoids a setback this week, we could see a return to a near-usual workload next week.

*Golden Tate | Finger | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full | Sat - Full [MNF]
Tate returned to a full practice on Friday and told reporters there were no fractures in his finger and he was not limited catching passes. His Saturday practice participation and game status is still pending but another full practice would be more indication Tate is good to go without limitation on Monday night.
***Saturday Evening Update: Tate was a full Saturday participant, is not listed on the game status report, and can be expected to play with minimal limitation.

    John Brown
    | Quad | Declared Out

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP
On Wednesday, there was hope Brown's appearance on the injury report was cautionary. The Thursday DNP raised concern that Brown's quad soreness had recurred. Unfortunately, Brown was unable to practice Friday and has been ruled out. More on Brown's quad issues and why the sickle cell trait condition complicates diagnosis and recovery on Monday. It's not confirmed whether this quad issue is recurrent or SCT-related but it's a reasonable assumption. Brown missed multiple weeks of practice in the preseason with quad soreness, which puts his availability in question next week.

    Jarvis Landry
    | Knee | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Not Listed | Fri - Not Listed
Landry was added to the injury report on Friday after experiencing knee swelling overnight. There doesn't appear to be significant concern from the Dolphins about his availability and Landry was seen on the practice field watching rather than in the training room receiving treatment. If Landry is to be significantly limited, I'd expect a Sunday morning note from Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport. I'll update here with any news.
***Sunday AM Update: Landry is expected to play without limitation today per Ian Rapoport.

    Josh Doctson
    | Hamstring | Questionable | Likely to pLay / Limited

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited
Jay Gruden attempted reassurance on Wednesday, telling reporters Doctson was experiencing soreness and was unlikely to miss this week's game. On Friday, Gruden admitted Doctson wasn't ready to see increased reps on gameday. If that's the case -- and this isn't the first time Washington has struggled to manage a soft tissue condition with Doctson -- it's unclear why the team continues to risk further aggravation. Doctson is listed questionable and the consensus seems to be that he'll be active this week. But he's not ready for a full workload yet.

    Markus Wheaton
    | Finger | Questionable | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited
Wheaton is a tough read. The trend appeared positive this week but his Friday media interview has red flags. Wheaton said he'd like a full week of practice before playing and suggested the decision-makers are thinking similarly. He also noted he's not had time to build chemistry with Mike Glennon yet. At least one beat writer believes it's possible Wheaton plays but would be surprised to see him active. Consider him a game-time decision but likely to see a significant number of snaps if active. While chemistry would be an issue, conditioning should not be a concern and the Chicago receiver depth chart is strikingly thin.

    Terrance Williams
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely active

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited
Williams has a low-ankle sprain but was unable to practice until Friday. The limited Friday practice was a positive note to end the week but the team likely wants to see how his ankle responded to Friday's light work before committing him to the active roster.
***Sunday AM Update: Williams is expected to be active today.

    Others of note: Amari Cooper
(knee), Jamison Crowder (hip), and Kenny Britt (knee) have fully practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and expected to play without limitation. Danny Amendola (concussion / knee), Mike Williams (back) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    TIGHT END

    Jermaine Gresham | Ribs | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP
Gresham didn't practice this week and was listed questionable. The Cardinals use the doubtful tag on some players (see Deone Bucannon) and aren't opposed to ruling players out on Friday (see John Brown). Give Gresham a chance to play but he'll be limited at best if active.
Others of note: Charles Clay (shoulder) and George Kittle (hamstring)have fully practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and expected to play without limitation. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    DEFENSIVE PLAYER NOTES

    EDGE:
Bud Dupree (shoulder) returned to a full practice on Friday and is noton Pittsburgh's game status report. He is expected to start.
Leonard Floyd (back) was added to the injury report on Friday as a limited participant. He is listed questionable but tentatively expected to play.
Khalil Mack and Brandon Graham (tricep) continue to be listed on the injury report. Their injuries are minor. Both are fully practicing and expected to see their usual snap count. Myles Garrett (ankle) is out, as is Za'Darius Smith.
    DEFENSIVE LINE:
Mike Daniels (hip) was limited after suffering a hip injury on Thursday. There is no indication he'll miss this week's game as yet.
Jurrell Casey (back) rested until a full Friday practice. He's not listed on the game status report and will play.
Stephon Tuitt (bicep) is unlikely to play but hasn't been formally ruled out. He's likely to return next week.
Jared Crick (back) is out and will be moved to injured reserve after expected back surgery next week.
    LINEBACKER:
Kwon Alexander (illness) is listed questionable but returned to a full Friday practice and should play.
Reuben Foster (ankle) unrealistically told reporters he'd play this week. He's been declared out and may miss another 2-3 weeks.
B.J. Goodson (shin) was added to the injury report on Saturday with a shin injury that "has been bothering him for a couple of days" per Bob McAdoo. No details on the injury were reported. Likely a bruise, given the location and duration of concern, Jordan Raanan tweeted that he expects Goodson to start Monday night.
Anthony Barr (hamstring) managed only a Friday limited practice but reports suggest the Vikings expect him to play.
Deone Bucannon (ankle) continued to practice this week but isn't ready to return. He's listed doubtful and unlikely to play.
Thomas Davis (knee), Karlos Dansby (shin), K.J. Wright (ankle), Wesley Woodyard (illness), Duke Riley (knee), and Cory James (knee) all were limited at some point this week but returned to full practices and are not listed on their team's game status report. Expect all to see their usual snap counts. Dont'a Hightower (knee) is out this week as are both Antonio Morrison (elbow) and Anthony Walker (hamstring). Morrison and Walker were listed as day-to-day earlier this week; the Colts will have only Jon Bostic, Sean Spence, and Jeremiah George healthy at inside linebacker, with Bostic and George the likely starters.
    DEFENSIVE BACK:
Eric Weddle (illness) returned to practice mid-week and will play.
Devin McCourty (groin) is questionable after a limited week of practice but his media availability suggests he'll play his usual role this week.
Jalen Ramsey (ankle) is a game-time decision. Doug Marrone said the team would make a "smart" decision on him during warmups. Ramsey may be active but that's not a ringing endorsement of his readiness. Sunday AM Update: Ramsey is expected to play today.
Jason Verrett (knee), and Orlando Scandrick (hand) join Ronald Darby (ankle) and Vontae Davis (groin) on the sideline this week. Verrett's midweek injury has not been clarified and could be a concern next week. Prince Amukamara (ankle) is close to returning but unlikely to play this week. Sean Smith (neck), Richard Sherman (hamstring), and Xavier Rhodes (hip) are expected to play but watch pregame reports for an unexpectedly pessimistic development.

    OFFENSIVE LINE NOTES

    Key Starters Expected to Play:

    • Jason Peters-PHI (groin)
    • Cordy Glenn-BUF (foot)
    • Alex Mack-ATL (back)
    • Mike Pouncey-MIA (hip)
    • Kevin Zeitler-CLE (thumb)
    • Bobby Hart-NYG (ankle)

    Key Starters Declared Out:

    • Mike Iupati-ARI (triceps)
    • Jason Spriggs-GB (hamstring)
    • Kyle Long-CHI (ankle)
    • D.J. Humphries-ARI (knee)
    • Ryan Kelly-IND (foot)
    • Zach Strief-NO (knee)
    • Terron Armstead-NO (shoulder)

Both Bryan Bulaga (ankle) and David Bakhtiari (hamstring) are game-time decisions. Bulaga is improving but acknowledged his ankle has been slow to recover due to extensive swelling. Bakhtiari could have more than a low-grade strain given his mechanism of injury (fell and did the splits at 300+ pounds). The Packers are already without Jason Spriggs (declared out with a hamstring strain) and may be forced to play their fourth and fifth tackles this week.
Ronald Leary (concussion) reportedly cleared concussion protocol on Saturday. He could play if there are no setbacks in pregame Sunday. Sunday AM Update: Leary is expected to be active.
Marcus Cannon (ankle) has flown under the radar with the injuries to Danny Amendola and the concern over the loss in Kansas City on opening night. Beat writers aren't certain whether he'll be able to go.

    Sunday Update

NYG - WR Odell Beckham Jr. listed as questionable

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things look like Beckham is on track to play. He's the caliber of player that if he suits up and gets on the field then he most likely needs to be in your fantasy lineup. The Monday night game against the Lions complicates things if he doesn't play and you need a backup plan.

KC - KC cuts RB C.J. Spiller for third time

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB C.J. Spiller was released Saturday, Sept. 16. RB Akeem Hunt was promoted from the practice squad to replace him on the roster.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Akeem Hunt, not to be confused with starter Kareem Hunt, was undrafted out of Purdue in 2015. He's a good all-purpose back who could get some work as a change-of-pace option for the Chiefs.

PIT - Le'Veon Bell not sure of role

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell did not line up as a receiver in four-receiver sets in Week 1, and Bell said he is unsure if he will continue to come off the field in those packages going forward.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

So much for wanting to get paid as a running back and as a receiver. The Steelers almost went away from Bell at key times during their Week 1 contest against the Browns. Whether or not they were 'punishing' Bell, they better not do that too often. Even with an unsure role for Bell in the passing game, he's a must-start RB1 for fantasy owners every week.

CHI - RB Jordan Howard likely to play

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune, but Campbell said Howard's snap count could be impacted.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to downgrade Howard with this news and a potentially limited snap count. At the same time, this could prove to be a bonus for fantasy owners starting Tarik Cohen. In Week 1, Cohen led the team in targets and flashed as a playmaking weapon for the offense. With Howard banged up, Cohen could be asked to do even more in Week 2.

PHI - RB Donnel Pumphrey lands on IR

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Eagles placed RB Donnel Pumphrey (hamstring) on the Reserve/Injured list on Friday, Sept. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A healthy scratch for the season opener, the Eagles fourth-round pick out of San Diego State tore his hamstring in practice this week. He could be designated to return, but it looks like the speedy rookie will be shut down for the year. He's the eventual replacement for Darren Sproles is Pumphrey stays healthy.

HOU - TE Gary Barnidge not a fit in Houston

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) worked out for the Houston Texans on Friday, Sept. 15, but he is not expected to sign and doesn't appear to be a fit for the team.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With C.J. Fiedorowicz on Injured Reserve, the Texans need help at the position. They did activate Evan Baylis off their practice squad but many felt they would add a tight end to the active roster like Barnidge. It's hard to believe Barnidge hasn't latched on with a team yet...or the TE desperate Texans wouldn't sign him.

BAL - Baltimore sends RB Jeremy Langford packing

    Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Baltimore Ravens RB Jeremy Langford was waived Saturday, Sept. 16. To fill his spot on the roster, RB Alex Collins was promoted from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collins has good instincts for running the ball. He's a good-sized runner (210 pounds) who can make a living between the tackles but has the burst to get outside at the second level of the defense. Collins will be the no3 RB for the Ravens behind starter Terrance West and backup Buck Allen.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead to see more action?

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead should play more than the 10 offensive snaps he did in Week 1 in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead could get more work this week...basically as a slot receiver. Consider him only a 'what the heck' flex against the Saints in Week 2.

PHI - New stance helping WR Nelson Agholor

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor said his stance has become more consistent, allowing him to be more explosive off the line and improving his timing with QB Carson Wentz.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Agholor had a preseason buzz around him from his performance during training camp. Once Jordan Matthews was traded to the Bills, it opened up the opportunity for Agholor to shine as a slot receiver for the Eagles. He played the slot in 3-WR sets for the Eagles in Week 1, and Agholor rotated with Torrey Smith in 2-WR sets with Alshon Jeffery on the opposite side. Against the Chiefs, Agholor is a WR5 or 'what the heck' flex for fantasy owners.

ARI - Elijhaa Penny to have role in offense

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB Elijhaa Penny is expected to have a role in the offense in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts with RB David Johnson (wrist) on the shelf.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Undrafted out of Idaha in 2016, Penny spent his rookie season on the Cardinals practice squad. He's a big back (6'2" 230 pounds) who can be used as a receiver out of the backfield in addition to a grinder between the tackles. Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has previously stated Penny did a good job on the scout team in 2016. Penny is a deep dynasty prospect we've been monitoring, but it may be difficult for him to get mixed into action on Sunday as he's fourth on the depth chart behind Kerwynn Williams, Andre Ellington and Chris Johnson.

ARI - WR Chad Williams to get opportunity

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams will make his season debut in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts after being a healthy scratch in the opener.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams, a third-round selection out of Grambling State, showed some good things during training camp for the Cardinals. We like him in dynasty leagues and will be watching to see how the rookie is mixed into the action this year.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson to receive carries

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson will receive some carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, according to running backs coach Kirby Wilson. Johnson caught two passes in Week 1 but did not have any carries.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson lined up as a slot receiver for the Browns against the Steelers in Week 1. Browns head coach Hue Jackson did emphasize during the week that Johnson is a running back and will be part of the rushing attack in certain game plans. We've got him as a RB4/deep flex option against a tough Ravens defense in Week 2.

    28. BAL - RB Kenneth Dixon penalized again
    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport
Baltimore Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) was suspended for two additional games by the National Football League on Friday, Sept. 15.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Dixon is already on season-ending Injured Reserve due to surgery to repair a knee injury. With injuries and multiple off-field issues, don't be surprised if the Ravens move on from Dixon in 2018.

    Sam Bradford

    Hi Folks,

Good Sunday Morning to you. Here's a reminder to make sure to check out two things:

First, our Dr. Jene Bramel has his Game Day Expectations Article ready for you here.

Secondly, starting at 11:00 AM Eastern Time today, we'll be updating our Sunday Morning Updates here. We'll be listing the Inactive Players and commenting with News and Updates to keep you on top of everything all the way up to Kickoff.

The buzz this morning is around Vikings QB Sam Bradford. Bradford had pain and swelling in his surgically repaired knee after Monday Night’s game. He underwent an MRI earlier in the week which came back negative on his knee. He’d been limited in practice. The move that raised eyebrows yesterday was the Vikings adding QB Kyle Sloter from the practice squad to the 53 Man Roster waiving safety Antone Exum to make room for him. Don’t panic over this move but it clearly says the Vikings want some insurance here. It’s the smart move.

NFL.com’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported this morning: “#Vikings starting QB has told folks he expects to play.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier this morning: “Vikings believe Sam Bradford, listed as Q for Sunday, will be gametime decision, per source. They plan to work him out pregame, then decide.”

Bottom line: Watch this one closely if Bradford or other Vikings are your guys. Clearly, he was the key that made this offense work Monday night. Fortunately, we’ll know his status by about 11:30 AM ET this morning as the game is a 1:00 PM kickoff.

    Here's to Football.

Jacksonville would be a decent team if they didn't have Bortles.

    Monday Update

CAR - TE Greg Olsen breaks foot

    Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) said he suffered a broken foot during the team's Week 2 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a big loss for Cam Newton and the Panthers offense. Devin Funchess will get more opportunities in the passing game. Ed Dickson is Olsen's backup, but the team signed Bucky Hodges to the practice squad this week, and he's basically a big wide receiver playing tight end.

Patriots - Rob Gronkowski injury update

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stay tuned for more here early in the week. After the game, Gronkowski said "I'm good" according to ProFootballTalk.com.

TEN - WR Corey Davis held at bay in victory

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis managed just one catch for four yards on three targets in Week 2 at Jacksonville.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis left with a hamstring tweak. He might not be ready for a Seattle matchup that was going to be tough for the rookie anyway. He's not an essential hold in short bench leagues if this is a worse injury than his original hamstring problem.

TEN - RB Derrick Henry rumbles for 92 yards, TD

    Source: The Associated Press

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed 14 times for a career-high 92 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Jaguars.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry is about to take a big step forward in value if the Titans commit to him after his performance. He's a boom/bust flex next week against Seattle, but much more interesting to carry on your roster than he was a week ago.

JAX - WR Allen Hurns finds the end zone

    Source: The Associated Press

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns posted six receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against Tennessee on seven targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hurns came through in garbage time a la Allen Robinson in 2015. He's still a very risky play against the Ravens next week.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette gets into end zone

    Source: The Associated Press

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie RB Leonard Fournette rushed 14 times for 40 yard and a touchdown in Week 2 against Tennessee. He also added two receptions for 21 yards on five targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette got the score when the game was out of hand, so his owners should consider themselves lucky. He'll be a boom/bust RB2 in a tough matchup against the Ravens next week.

CLE - RB Duke Johnson totals seven touches

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson rushed four times for 21 yards in Week 2 at Baltimore and he added three receptions for 59 yards on six targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson showed he deserves to be a bigger part of the offense going forward, but it still might not be enough to have fantasy value as the second back and receiving back on a poor team with inexperienced quarterbacks.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell does next to nothing

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell ran 10 times for just 37 yards in Week 2 at Baltimore while he did not have any catches on his only target.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns weren't that competitive today and the Ravens defense is for real against the run. Next week he faces a Colts defense that was surprisingly good against the run so far this year, although the Browns should be in that one until the end.

CLE - QB DeShone Kizer has disastrous Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer completed 15 of his 31 pass attempts for 182 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions while also losing a fumble in Week 2 at Baltimore.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Kizer left for a bit with a migraine and was arguably outplayed by backup Kevin Hogan. If Kizer does start against the Colts next week. he'll be a good cheap DFS play and worth a look in 2QB and superflex leagues.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey sees 12 touches

    Source: The Associated Press

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushes eight times for just 10 yards in Week 2 against Buffalo while adding four grabs for 34 yards on five targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCaffrey was a letdown after a more exciting debut, but he should have had a short touchdown catch to close out the game. Jonathan Stewart will limit his weekly upside, but he still has a relatively high weekly floor in PPR leagues.

CAR - QB Cam Newton accounts for zero TDs

    Source: The Associated Press

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 228 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Bills while posting five runs for 27 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton was better as a downfield passer today, but he did miss Christian McCaffrey on an easy touchdown toss that would have clinched the game. He's an upside QB1 play against the thin resistance of the Saints defense next week.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald falls off in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald caught three passes for 21 yards in a 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fitzgerald was quiet against the Colts, but he should still be a target hog over the course of the year as he and Carson Palmer could be on their farewall tour. He'll be in PPR lineups against the Cowboys next week.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy bottled up in Carolina

    Source: The Associated Press

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy carried 12 times for just nine yards in Week 2 against the Panthers and he added six receptions for 34 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy will have some days like this when the Bills offense can't string any kind of drives together. Next week against Denver could be a problem for McCoy again, although his involvement in passing game can save his weeks in PPR leagues.

BUF - QB Tyrod Taylor does next to nothing

    Source: The Associated Press

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor completed 17 of his 25 pass attempts for 125 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Panthers while running eight times for 55 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Taylor was powerless to move the Bills offense against a legitimate defense. He'll only be a desperation play again facing the Broncos next week.

PIT - WR Antonio Brown held to 62 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown caught five passes for 62 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown was quiet for most of the day, but wasn't a complete loss for fantasy. The Vikings are a good, balanced defense and the Steelers didn't have to take any risks to win, so this will be one of the low points on the year for Brown.

PIT - WR Martavis Bryant finds end zone

    Source: NFL.com

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant caught three passes for 91 yards and one touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bryant had a huge gain on one play and his speed accounted for a score on a short crossing pattern. He'll be a good boom/bust play against the Bears next week.

IND - Mixed numbers for QB Jacoby Brissett

    Source: The Associated Press

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett was 20-for-37 for 216 yards and one interception in a 16-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brissett was good on third down early, but didn't generate enough offense to win. He's still clearly an improvement over Scott Tolzien heading into a winnable game against Cleveland.

ARI - QB Carson Palmer rebounds in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer threw for 332 yards on 19-for-36 passing, with one touchdown and one interception, in a 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Palmer kept plugging and posted a decent fantasy line, but he failed on fourth and goal and threw a red zone interception. This is about as easy as it will get for Palmer this year, so if this is all he can muster, he's not going to be of much use to us this year.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen catches five passes

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen caught five passes for 44 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen and the rest of the Vikings pass offense sorely misses Sam Bradford. Hopefully some rest will help Bradford's knee calm down and allow him to play at a level close to the Week 1 mastery against the Saints. The Saints defense was the same against Tom Brady and the Patriots today, so perhaps Bradford won't approach that kind of production again this year anyway.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook has decent outing

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 64 yards on 12 carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook was still explosive but didn't get much in the passing game with Case Keenum. The whole Vikings offense has taken a huge step back without Sam Bradford.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery posts good outing

    Source: The Associated Press

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery caught seven passes for 92 yards and scored a touchdown in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery was on the same page with Carson Wentz and played a bigger role that he did last week. Next week, he could draw Janoris Jenkins, but Jeffery has momentum going into Week 3.

PHI - Strong day for TE Zach Ertz

    Source: The Associated Press

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught five passes for 97 yards in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz's longest gain was a fluke deflected deep ball late in the first half. He was still a core part of a good passing game and has to be ranked highly going into a matchup against the generous to the tight end Giants next week.

KC - TE Travis Kelce over 100 yards receiving in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 103 yards and scored a go-ahead touchdown on a 15-yard catch as the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-20, on Sunday, Sept. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce wasn't contained by the Eagles defense and keyed the passing game for the Chiefs. He'll face the Chargers next week as the #1 fantasy tight end if Rob Gronkowski is out.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers reaches end zone

    Source: NFL.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers didn't fare much better than Devonta Freeman did last week against the underrated Bears front seven, but the Bucs controlled the game and gave him scoring opportunities. He'll be a flex play against the Vikings next week.

KC - RB Kareem Hunt scores twice in Week 2

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt had 13 carries for 81 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 17. He also caught all three of his targeted passes for 28 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt was quiet in the first half but sparked the Chiefs offense in the second half with a long score to revive them. He's a bonafide elite RB1 heading into a matchup with the Chargers.

CHI - QB Mike Glennon surpasses 300-yard mark

    Source: NFL.com
Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 31-for-45 for 301 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Glennon was completely ineffective in the first half and his turnovers along with Tarik Cohen's muffed punt basically gave the Bucs no chance. The Mitchell Trubisky doomsday clock gets closer to midnight with the Steelers up next.

Mike Glennon 300 yards was pure fools gold, how is he still a starter?
