i felt a few of you guys might want to read this preview. considering its from an ATS point of view.

Seattle is currently the hottest team in pro football, hoping to avoid a setback from a Philadelphia team in disarray. The Seahawks are trying to get to the next level, a place the Eagles were very familiar with until this season.

Las Vegas Sports Consultants opened Seattle as a four-point road favorite over Philadelphia, with the total listed at 43. ABC Sports will provide coverage of Monday Night Football beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Seattle (9-2 straight up, 6-5 against the spread) enters this matchup riding a seven-game SU winning streak (4-3 ATS) after escaping with an overtime victory versus the New York Giants last weekend in overtime as a five-point home ‘chalk,’ 24-21. The combined 45 points went ‘under’ the 47-point closing total. The total has alternated in the Seahawks’ past six games.

Seattle triumphed after New York kicker Jay Feely missed three potential game-winning field goals. The Seahawks finished the game trailing the Giants in almost every statistical category like first downs (25-17), rushing yards (166-127), passing yards (324-228), turnovers forced (2-1) and time of possession (39:21-32:54).

Philadelphia (5-6 SU, 3-8 ATS) had dropped four games in a row SU and six consecutive ATS before beating Green Bay last year as a four-point home ‘chalk,’ 19-14. The combined 33 points failed to topple the 41-point closing total, helping the ‘under’ improve to 4-2-1 the last seven games.

The defense held the Packers scoreless after halftime, while the offense produced three field goals. The Eagles led Green Bay in rushing yards (180-128), turnovers forced (5-1) and time of possession (31:05-28:55).

Quarterback Mike McMahon completed 12-of-28 passes for 91 yards, while rushing four times for 29 yards. Running back Brian Westbrook had 21 carries for 117 yards with a touchdown, and also grabbed four passes for 11 yards.

The Eagles are 2-0 both SU and ATS the past two encounters with the Seahawks after winning the last matchup back in 2002 as a three-point road favorite, 27-20. The combined 47 points went ‘over’ the 38-point closing total.

Seattle defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs (calf) is ‘probable’ versus the Eagles, while wide receiver Darrell Jackson (knee), strong safety John Howell (hamstring), linebacker Jamie Sharper (knee) and cornerback Kelly Herndon (knee) are ‘out.’

Philadelphia running back Lamar Gordon (concussion) and offensive guard Artis Hicks (knee) are ‘probable’ against the Seahawks, while defensive tackle Sam Rayburn (shoulder) is ‘questionable.’

Seattle maintains a comfy four-game lead in the weak NFC West Division, ahead of 5-6 St. Louis while Arizona (3-8) and San Francisco (2-9) are already planning for next year.

The Seahawks follow this contest by hosting the 49ers before going on the road to tackle Tennessee. Philadelphia hosts the New York Giants next weekend before going on a two-game road trip versus St. Louis and Arizona.

Monday’s forecast for Philadelphia calls for rain/snow showers, with a high of 40 degrees and a low of 27.
