NFL Player News - Week of 5/15/17

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota could see some action in OTAs

Source: The Tennessean - Jason Wolf

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (leg) is not yet running full-speed after fracturing his right fibula late last season, but the coaching staff is attempting to figure out how to get him - along with injured rookie WR Corey Davis - on the field together sooner than later. Organized team activities run from May 23 to June 8, and there is a chance both could see limited work during that time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans will be cautious with Mariota, so if he's just not ready they won't push him. All reports have been positive about his recovery, but his participation level for the offseason is in question. Mariota should do more in training camp and the preseason, and it looks like he'll be ready for Week 1.

SEA - WR Kenny Lawler adds some weight

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks WR Kenny Lawler has added around 15 to 17 pounds since last season and was impressive during the team's rookie minicamp this weekend, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lawler was a seventh round pick last year and spent his rookie year on the Seahawks practice squad. A lanky possession receiver out of Cal, Lawler needed to bulk up in order to play with better strength after the catch. He'll be hard pressed to make the team again this year.

BUF - WR Kolby Listenbee on schedule

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Kolby Listenbee's (hernia) recovery is on schedule, according to head coach Sean McDermott, and the plan is for Listenbee to be ready for training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick out of TCU in 2016, Listenbee had to sit out all of his rookie year due to injury. He can flat out fly when healthy at 6'0" 197 pounds. A true vertical threat, Listenbee is strong enough to maintain possession of the ball when contact is made at the catch point. The Bills have a revamped group of wide receivers this year, and in dynasty leagues we're curious as to where Listenbee will end up in the pecking order.

WAS - Samaje Perine impresses coaches

Source: The Washington Post - Mike Jones

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine drew praise from running backs coach Randy Jordan for his quickness and elusiveness during rookie minicamp, and head coach Jay Gruden praised Perine's technique. 'You can tell his pad level is always down and he had good vision and he has good feet in the hole, and he caught the ball well,' Gruden said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited about Perine's skill set at the pro level...mainly because we've seen it before in former Falcons stud Michael Turner. Going to Washington isn't a great landing spot for Perine as he'll have to compete for touches with Rob Kelley. The rookie from Oklahoma is currently going off the board at RB52 (12.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

LAR - Cooper Kupp has an edge on Josh Reynolds

    Source: TheRams.com - Myles Simmons

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp and WR Josh Reynolds are going to have different route trees, according to head coach Sean McVay, because Kupp is used to lining up all over the formation while Reynolds played in a spread system and lined up mostly outside the numbers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kupp has the edge as well because he's simply a better route runner and is able to get separation with guile and cunning. The rookie from Easter Washington plays like a younger version of Eric Decker (Jets), and Kupp could become a favorite target for QB Jared Goff.

    Tuesday Update

SEA - RB Eddie Lacy passes weight test

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Seattle Seahawks RB Eddie Lacy earned $55,000 Monday, May 15, for weighing 253 pounds -- two below the limit Seattle set for him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just under the wire! Lacy has a weight clause in his contract with the Seahawks...and for good reason. They don't need him filling up on Italian food at The Pink Door and getting out of shape. The team wants Lacy to play around 245 pounds this year. If he can keep his weight under control, it could help with his stamina and availability - something that's been a problem for him over the last two years.

NYJ - QB Bryce Petty at full strength

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty (shoulder) said his surgically repaired left shoulder is at full strength, and he has been cleared to participate in organized team activities.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Petty is competing with Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg to be the starting quarterback. Appearing in six games last year, Petty had only three touchdowns with seven interceptions. Unless he's made serious changes to his game, we don't see Petty beating out the veteran McCown for the top spot on the depth chart. Fantasy owners shouldn't be looking to this team for quarterback help.

TB - TE Cameron Brate will remain involved

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate will still remain a 'very valuable part of the offense,' which was a sentiment the team has emphasized repeatedly after drafting TE O.J. Howard.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll take them at their word, but fantasy owners need to realize how cramped the weapons are around QB Jameis Winston. Even if Brate is still involved, the team is going to still get the ball to Mike Evans...plus they added WR DeSean Jackson in free agency...and oh yeah, they selected Howard with their first-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft. Brate had a breakout season in 2016 and finished the year as the 6th-highest ranked TE in standard scoring leagues. He'll be hard pressed to break into the top 15 this year in a TEBC.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery impressing new team

Source: NJ Advance Media - Matt Lombardo

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery has embraced the coaching staff and has been competing at a high level since joining the team, according to head coach Doug Pederson, and Pederson said the hope for the offseason is to have Jeffery and QB Carson Wentz on the same page.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles finally have a true no.1 wide receiver for Wentz, and Jeffery could have plenty of fantasy value with his new team. His current ADP is WR16 (3.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

PHI - Philly high on Corey Clement

Source: NJ Advance Media - Matt Lombardo

Philadelphia Eagles RB Corey Clement was given a 'draftable grade' by the scouting department, according to head coach Doug Pederson. 'We wanted to get him in here and get him working,' Pederson said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Clement is rocked up and has the size (220 pounds) of a lead back. In fact, he's the largest back on the Eagles roster at this time. Clement is not much of a receiving option and staying healthy has been a problem for him during his football career. He's competing for a spot on the 53-man roster, and it's worth keeping an eye on this Eagles backfield for fantasy value.

DET - RB Matt Asiata not signed by Lions

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Free-agent RB Matt Asiata (Vikings) was not given an offer following his participation in the Detroit Lions' rookie minicamp last week.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Asiata is a TD hog, but if he can't stick with a team like the Lions then it will be tough for him to land elsewhere. Lions head coach Jim Caldwell insists they're happy with the current backs in place.

ATL - QB Matt Simms back with Falcons

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Curtis Jackson

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Simms was re-signed Monday, May 15. WR Garrett Scantling was waived in a corresponding move.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Simms will compete as a camp arm with the Falcons once again. They've got Matt Ryan as the starter, Matt Schaub as the veteran backup and rookie Alek Togerson (Penn) as a developmental prospect.

ATL - Eric Saubert making strong impression

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Michael Cunningham

Atlanta Falcons TE Eric Saubert is bigger and faster than anticipated, according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Quinn said the arrow is 'definitely up' on Saubert after rookie minicamp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Saubert was one of our favorite sleeper TEs in the 2017 NFL draft. Coming out of Drake, Saubert showed off incredible ball skills and athleticism during the week of practice for the East-West Shrine Game earlier this year. Austin Hooper should be the Falcons lead TE this year, but keep your eye on Saubert in dynasty formats.

ATL - Brian Hill showing versatility

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Michael Cunningham

Atlanta Falcons RB Brian Hill impressed head coach Dan Quinn with his size and his ability to catch the ball coming out of the backfield. 'No. 1 is just the size,' Quinn said. 'You can feel that right away. He's got the ability to make one cut and get vertical. We were happy with him coming out of the backfield.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill was one of the most versatile backs in this draft class. He's not going to blow you away with outstanding speed or tremendous power, but Hill is a grinder who does everything well. The Wyoming product should work well as a reserve RB behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. If one of those guys were banged up, Hill could step into a potentially fantasy relevant role and shine.

PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster staying focused

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Chris Adamski
Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he wants to earn a starting role but is currently focused on learning learning the playbook and running the proper routes.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smith-Schuster is hyper competitive and could very well be a high-volume possession receiver for the Steelers. That makes him a rookie WR to monitor closely in PPR leagues. The USC product has drawn comparisons to Anquan Boldin because of his size and ability to rip contested passes away from defenders.

    Wednesday Update

ARI - QB Carson Palmer noncommittal on future

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Kyle Odegard

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said he has no idea if 2017 will be his last year in the NFL. He will evaluate himself when the season is over as he does every year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Palmer's time as a starter in the NFL is winding down as he's got a year or two left in our eyes. In 2016, Palmer passed for 4233 yards but his passing touchdown total dropped from 35 to 26. Last year, Palmer finished as the No. 16 fantasy quarterback in standard-scoring leagues. This year, fantasy owners are drafting Palmer at QB21 (13.10) and that should be fairly accurate as a projection of where he'll finish. Palmer is now more of a QB2 than he is a QB1 in fantasy leagues.

SEA - Seahawks have interest in QB Colin Kaepernick

    Source: SI.com - Michael Silver

Free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick (49ers) has drawn interest from the Seattle Seahawks, who reached out to his agent last week. The interest in Kaepernick as a potential backup quarterback is 'legit.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Seattle only has Trevone Boykin as the backup behind Russell Wilson, but Boykin has been in trouble with the law twice this offseason. Kaepernick may want to be a starter, but that gig isn't likely to present itself to him. He could fit in nicely on a championship caliber team if he's willing to accept a backup role.

ATL - Holdout unlikely for RB Devonta Freeman

Source: CBS Sports Radio - Knox Bardeen

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman said he can't envision himself holding out if contract negotiations were to come to a halt. Freeman has one year left on his rookie deal.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Freeman is scheduled to make $1.797 million this season, but GM Thomas Dimitroff has stated he believes a new deal will be worked out sometime around training camp. Freeman isn't holding out, and fantasy owners are drafting Freeman at RB6 (1.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CHI - WR Victor Cruz's Bears visit continues

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

Free-agent WR Victor Cruz (Giants) is continuing to meet with the Chicago Bears Tuesday, May 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears may have interest in Cruz as a veteran who could fill the role vacated by Eddie Royal. They've added some questionable talents earlier this year at wide receiver, including Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright. Cruz isn't the same player he used to be, but perhaps he'd find a spot on the WR-needy Bears roster.

NYJ - QB Christian Hackenberg more comfortable

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg said he feels more comfortable entering his second season in the NFL and believes he has improved since his rookie season. Hackenberg is expected to compete for the starting job during training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets selected Hackenberg in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, but he couldn't do enough to see the field as a rookie. This year, Hackenberg is going to compete with Josh McCown and Bryce Petty for the starting job. He'd have to take a huge leap from year one to year two in order to win the job for Week 1. At some point, expect the Jets to take a look at him but don't expect him to blow the doors off the league.

JAX - Dede Westbrook signed Tuesday

    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, May 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Westbrook is lightning quick with the ball in his hands. He can gain separation in his route with speed and moves, then after the catch Westbrook can eat up yards in chunks. Off field and character concerns dinged his draft stock, but if he's focused then Westbrook can contribute as a slot receiver for the Jaguars.

    Thursday Update

NE - QB Tom Brady had a concussion last year?

    Source: CSNNE.com

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (concussion) suffered a concussion last season, according to his wife, Gisele Bundchen, appearing on 'CBS This Morning' Wednesday, May 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leg issues got Brady on the injury report last year, but he was not listed as having a concussion in 2016. Did Brady hide the concussion symptoms so well that nobody noticed, or did the Patriots cover it up on the injury report? Or is Gisele just showing concern for her husband? We're certain about the latter, but there's no way of knowing for sure if Brady was concussed at all. This is a topic that will certainly be revisited later on. Stay tuned.

SF - Joe Williams has chance to start in 2017

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers fourth-round pick RB Joe Williams has a 'legitimate chance' to 'immediately unseat' RB Carlos Hyde as the team's top running back this season, according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers new regime doesn't seem to be enamored with Hyde at all. He's in the final year of his contract, but the 49ers may move him behind Williams on the depth chart. Williams is a runner who can create space for himself in a variety of ways. He's got burst to and through the hole, and he can make defenders miss in the open field. Williams is not a third-down back, but he can lead the way in a RBBC as the featured runner.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman wants 'elite' money

    Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman wants to be 'elite paid', according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elite money is hard to define at the running back position in today's NFL. We'd consider elite money to be anywhere from $7-9 million annually which would put Freeman in the range of LeSean McCoy (Bills) but behind the $12 million Le'Veon Bell (Steelers) is scheduled to make in 2017. We'll see if Freeman and the Falcons can agree on a new deal sometime this summer.

PHI - More on RB LeGarrette Blount deal

    Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount's one-year deal is worth up to $2.8 million with a $1.25 million base salary and up to $1.55 million in incentives.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coming off a career high in rushing yards (1,161) and rushing touchdowns (18) in 2016, this isn't likely the size of deal Blount initially wanted. The market was cool for veteran backs this offseason, and once the Patriots added Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee it was clear Blount was going to play elsewhere in 2017.

PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount agrees with Eagles

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount (Patriots) agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, May 17, worth up to $2.8 million.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blount finally lands with a new team after the Patriots decided to move on. He'll serve as the two-down banger for the Eagles, and he should get some goal-line and short-yardage work too. When they need a change-of-pace back, the Eagles have quite the collection with Darren Sproles, Wendell Smallwood, and rookie Donnel Pumphrey. He's unlikely to be quite the TD hog like he was last year (18 rushing scores), but Blount could perform like a RB2 for fantasy owners.

NYJ - QB Bryce Petty ready to compete

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty said he is ready to compete with QBs Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg for the starting quarterback job and believes he can win the job.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Petty's Madden Ultimate Team has over a 90 rating, and he just got the 99 OVR Tom Brady Cover Reveal card (just look it up on MUTHead.com). The guy who said he can get better playing football by playing Madden has a chance to win the starting job in 2017. Yes, that's the sad state of the Jets QB situation. Don't look for fantasy gold with this team at this position. No matter who wins the starting job, we won't be recommending them as anything more than a "you forgot to take your backup QB and now they're all gone" addition.

DET - TE Eric Ebron may receive extension

    Source: MLive.com - Kyle Meinke

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he has talked with general manager Bob Quinn about a possible contract extension.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions picked up Ebron's fifth-year option for 2018 in a no-brainer move earlier this offseason. Ebron's numbers as a receiver have gotten better each year he's been in the league. He's not a TD machine, and some of those red-zone looks could go to rookie Mike Roberts (noted TD hog from Toledo). Ebron's currently getting drafted at TE15 (12.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

PHI - RB Ryan Mathews done in Philly?

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews is expected to be released once he is healthy following the signing of LeGarrette Blount, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As soon as the Blount news came in, it meant Mathews would be on his way out. Mathews suffered a neck injury late last year that required surgery, and he may not be designated healthy for another couple of months. If/When on the open market, we can't see teams lining up around the block for a 30-year old (in October), injury prone running back like Mathews.

JAX - Leonard Fournette signs contract

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette signed his four-year deal with the Jaguars Wednesday, May 17, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fournette can be a star at the pro level, and he's likely to be the centerpiece of the Jaguars offense. Most scouts compared him to Adrian Peterson because of his size/speed combination, and that's an accurate comparison. The Jaguars back should be one of the most fantasy relevant rookies in 2017, and he should be considered a RB1 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is RB16 (4.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

BAL - Benjamin Watson ahead of schedule

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles') said he's ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn Achilles'. 'I'm at the point now where I'm very close,' Watson said earlier this month. 'I'm able to do pretty much everything to some extent. These last couple stages are very important about getting the strength back. The actual Achilles itself is intact.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With medical advances, Achilles' injuries don't seem as serious as they used to be, but it's not like Watson is getting any younger (age 36). The Ravens don't have a proven group of wide receivers (outside of Mike Wallace), so perhaps they'll be using more tight ends to move the chains. When healthy, Watson can be a reliable target across the field and in the red zone. He'll compete for targets with guys like Dennis Pitta, Crockett Gillmore and Maxx Williams.

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley is in shape and ready for the season, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for Kelley as he's likely to be pushed -- hard -- by rookie Samaje Perine (Oklahoma). Washington selected Perine in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft, and he's one of our favorite big RBs from this class. This is going to be a camp battle fantasy owners have to monitor closely during the preseason.

IND - Marlon Mack signs rookie deal

    Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen
Indianapolis Colts fourth-round draft choice RB Marlon Mack signed his four-year contract with the Colts Wednesday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mack measures in at 5'11" 213 pounds, but he has the skill set of a smaller back. He can maneuver around defenders at the second level, and Mack has "Adios" speed when he gets to the corner. Mack runs blind between the tackles and looks to take the rock to the corner store too often as a runner. If utilized the correct way, Mack can certainly make plays as a part-time player. In 2017, the rookie from USF will compete for snaps behind starter Frank Gore.

PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster signs contract

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers second-round draft choice WR JuJu Smith-Schuster signed his four-year contract with the Steelers Wednesday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith-Schuster may be the favorite to win the Steelers no.3 job at wide receiver (with Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant at no.1 and no.2 of course). The rookie from USC reminds some in the scouting community of Anquan Boldin because of his size, strength at the catch point and his run-after-the-catch ability. He'll compete with Sammie Coates for the third spot on the depth chart.

The Patriots may just be updating their emergency list here. Hawkins would be a great fit on the Patriots with his quickness, agility and elusiveness after the catch. Released by the Browns earlier this year, Hawkins has been busy in college and recent got his degree from Columbia University with a 4.0 GPA. Congrats Hawk!

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Bucs are hopeful that Smith can regain his form as a pass-rusher and work back onto the field as an important rotational player. Smith had 6.5 sacks in 2014 and 7.0 in 2015. Due to make almost $2 million this year, Smith will be an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

While he's not quite Carl Pickens, Malone was an ascending talent during his days in college playing for the Tennessee Volunteers. In 2016, Malone was the top WR for Tennesse catching 50 passes for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns. Along with first-round pick John Ross, the Bengals have added some much-needed speed to the WR corps.

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson
Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Chad Hansen signed a four-year deal worth $2.819 million. The deal includes a $419,648 signing bonus.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We wish the Jets had a better QB situation as Hansen is an interesting rookie to add in dynasty leagues. The Cal prospect reminded most in the scouting community of Allen Hurns (Jaguars) because of his size/speed combination. He should win the slot job behind outside starters Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa in 2017.

    Friday Update

PIT - TE Ladarius Green released

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green was released Thursday, May 18.

Not a shock given his concussion issues. It will be interesting to see who the Steelers bring in to compete with Jesse James.

DEN - Decision-making big for Denver quarterbacks

    Source: FOXSports.com - Cameron DaSilva

Denver Broncos QBs Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch will need to make good decisions in order to win the starting position, according to head coach Vance Joseph. 'The guy who makes great decisions with the football, not turning the ball over, and the guy who lets his teammates play for him, that's the guy I want to lead our football team,' Joseph said. '[Decisions-making] is the biggest factor in this decision I'm going to make.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think VP John Elway and Joseph would be leaning towards Lynch, but he has to prove he deserves the job. Both quarterbacks made some boneheaded plays last year and the Broncos cannot afford to waste another year with those same issues plaguing them. The other wild card is Chad Kelly. Mr Irrelevant has more pure skill than either of the other quarterbacks, but he needs to prove he is healthy and be more poised and less 'Outlaw Country' off the field. Kelly is his own worst enemy.

    BUF - Zay Jones injured

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones (knee), the team's second-round pick in 2017, suffered a knee injury Tuesday, May 16, which the team believes is a sprain. He'll miss some time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It isn't a huge concern yet, but for a rookie every snap counts - even those when you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Jones has a lot of potential and given Sammy Watkins is always hurt (he's still hampered by his foot issues this week) he could have a big rookie season. He has to be healthy though.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins out of action

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not participating in the organized team activities Thursday, May 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is our surprised face. Watkins has been around a lot so missing a glorified day camp isn't a big deal but the foot is something to watch. As rookie Zay Jones has now hurt his knee, Tyrod Taylor is going to be throwing to a lot of depth chart wannabes in the coming weeks.

PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster to have slot role?

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has the size and ability to serve as a successful slot receiver if that's where the Steelers want him to play, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smith-Schuster has some great hands and catch radius, and looks like he has the makings of a solid possession receiver. That role could give him more production than expected with the newly reinstated Martavis Bryant, Eli Rogers and Darrius Heyward-Bay around fighting for the scraps Antonio Brown leaves behind.

BAL - WR Breshad Perriman building chemistry

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman is developing a rapport with QB Joe Flacco. Perriman feels like he has a rhythm with Flacco now after working out with his quarterback for several weeks this offseason. 'We've been working every day running routes,' Perriman said. 'I feel like it's been paying off and we're getting on the same page.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco desperately needs weapons and the Ravens didn't help him out during the draft. So a guy like Perrimen, who has shown us flashes of production, could be in for a lot of targets if he can rise to the occasion.

NYJ - Jordan Leggett inks deal

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets TE Jordan Leggett signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, May 18. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In a deep tight end class, this is an interesting guy. Leggett has great size for the position and new offensive coordinator John Morton comes from an offense which uses the tight end a lot. Leggett walks into a potentially good position in terms of possible offense and overall skill. The problem is twofold, though. First he can be lazy and doesn't seem to have a consistent motor. Secondly, there's a position - don't know if you've heard of it - called quarterback which the Jets are having trouble with. Without that under-appreciated spot being locked down with a solid option, no tight end can be expected to have a big impact.

ARI - Arizona signs Chad Williams

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, May 18. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams performed well against lower-level competition at Grambling State, but he has talent. He needs to improve his route running and adjust better to balls while they are in the air, but if he can pull it together - both on and off the field. The latter refers to being charged with marijuana and firearms possession while at LSU, resulting in a one game suspension.

    9. BUF - Zay Jones signs rookie deal

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, May 18. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is currently sidelined with a knee issue, but should be ready for camp. A productive receiver in college who looked faster at the Senior Bowl than was expected, Jones could be a solid producer across from Sammy Watkins with the potential to replace Watkins if the Bills let the veteran walk after his contract is up.

    Saturday Update

NE - Agent denies QB Tom Brady's concussion rumors

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating an ongoing story, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was not diagnosed with a concussion last season, according to his agent.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, claimed Brady had a concussion last year even though he was never listed with one on the injury report. The Patriots have never listed Brady with a concussion. The league and NFLPA will take a look but we don't expect much to come from it.

Source: The News Journal - Frank Martin

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount said QB Carson Wentz is 'one of those guys you want to build a team around' and 'has the potential to be a really special player.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wentz is a player that the whole staff...and now a new teammate...are excited to work with. He struggled as his rookie season went on last year, but now Wentz has better weapons around him. The addition of WRs Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith should help him stay consistent as a passer.

SEA - Seattle expects to run more often in 2017

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said this week the Seahawks will run the ball more often this season. The team added Eddie Lacy to a backfield that already had a pair of injury-prone players in C.J. Prosise and Thomas Rawls.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for Lacy and company. Lacy comes over from Green Bay in free agency this offseason, and he needed a fresh start. After two years of strong production with the Packers, the last two years have seen the big back struggle through weight problems and injuries. If healthy, over 1,000 yards rushing and 7-9 rushing touchdowns is possible with his new team. Fantasy owners are drafting Lacy at RB20 (5.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

OAK - QB Derek Carr eyeing extension

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr wants to work out a contract extension this offseason, and general manager Reggie McKenzie said he is confident that a deal will be agreed upon. 'We're going to do everything to make sure this contract gets done,' McKenzie said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the biggest no-brainer in the history of Earth. Sign Carr to a big money deal, do it as soon as you can, and smile while you write the check. Carr is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, and he's made the Raiders into a Super Bowl contender. They should get this contract out of the way so it doesn't become a distraction.

PIT - TE Jesse James to be No. 1 tight end

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James will be the 'main guy' at the tight end position this year, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At 6'7" 261 pounds, James can be a red-zone force...if not more...for the Steelers in 2017. He caught 39 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns last year, but in the postseason James caught 10 passes for 131 yards in the Divisional Round and AFC Championship Game. He moves into the top spot with the release of Ladarius Green.

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick (49ers) is reportedly 'not a fit' for the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

TB - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick signs with Tampa

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) has agreed to an undisclosed contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, May 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

When they lost Mike Glennon (Bears) in free agency, the Bucs had only Ryan Griffin as the primary backup to Jameis Winston. Fitzpatrick certainly wasn't "Fitzmagic" last year with the Jets...in fact, he was downright horrible. He'll compete with Griffin to wear a ballcap and hold a clipboard in 2017.

LAC - Mike Williams dealing with back issue

Source: Los Angeles Times - Dan Woike

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams was a top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL draft, and he reminds some in the scouting community of Plaxico Burress. He's big, has a large wingspan and can win at the catch point regularly. Expect the team to take it easy on him as he deals with this back injury.

CIN - Joe Mixon's versatility praised

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon's versatility will make it harder for defenses to know what the offense is doing, according to QB Andy Dalton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon has drawn comparisons to Le'Veon Bell (Steelers) because of his versatility. We see him as a full-time back and certainly a strong fantasy asset. The Bengals will have to hammer out the touches in the backfield between Mixon, Gio Bernard and Jeremy Hill.

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans said it will be 'awesome' to play with WR DeSean Jackson, and he believes they 'could be one of the best tandems in the league.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Evans is a tremendous receiver and Jackson - even if the current version is a shadow of the younger one - should draw sufficient attention to give Evans more room to produce yards and touchdowns. Add in another year of experience for Jameis Winston and Evans' value continues to trend upward.

DEN - RB Jamaal Charles not a lock for roster

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles has a 50 percent chance to make the 53-man roster, according to beat writer Mike Klis.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charles suffered a meniscus injury in the same right knee that had ACL surgery after a season-ending injury in 2015 and ended up having surgery on both knees after his 2016 ended. He should be ready for training camp, but how ready will that be? It feels like he's going to be behind the eight ball with CJ Anderson and Devontae Booker having plenty of time to get used to the offense. Charles hasn't really been great the last few seasons anyway and we think he's on the wrong side of his career and is likely destined for a minimal role in Denver.

CHI - Chicago inks Adam Shaheen

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears second-round pick TE Adam Shaheen signed his four-year rookie contract Friday, May 19. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He was called "Baby Gronk" leading up to the draft, and Shaheen was certainly a favorite of Draft Twitter. The Ashland prospect dominated the Division II level, and he did it with a size/speed combination rarely seen at that level. Shaheen measures in at 6'7" 280 pounds, and he says he got big in college eating Chipotle. He'll work behind Zach Miller this year, but Shaheen is one of our favorite rookie TEs to add in dynasty leagues.

HOU - Deshaun Watson unsure he'll start Week 1

    Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop

Houston Texans first-round pick QB Deshaun Watson admitted he has 'no idea' if he'll be the Week 1 starter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson will compete with Tom Savage to be the Texans starter this year. Capable of making big plays at the brightest moments, Watson should be able to win the job provided he can effectively take care of the ball. He'll challenge a defense but that has led to some costly interceptions. His transition from the spread/shotgun attack at Clemson to a pro-style attack with the Texans will take some time.

CLE - Cleveland wraps up Myles Garrett deal

Cleveland Browns first-round pick DE Myles Garrett signed his four-year rookie contract Friday, May 19. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The number one overall pick from Texas A&M reminds many in the scouting community of Julius Peppers because of his size/strength combination. Under defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, Garrett should be able to wreak havoc off the edge as a rookie.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen already up to speed

Source: Los Angeles Times - Dan Woike

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is already running routes at full speed in practice, and he said Tuesday, May 16, that he surprised himself with how well he is able to compete.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Chargers here. We all know Allen is incredibly talented when healthy...but it's the staying healthy part that is a problem for him. He's only played in nine games over the last two years combined. When healthy, Allen can be a fantasy factor and the favorite target of QB Philip Rivers. Expect the team to ease him along during OTAs with the idea that he could fully participate when training camp starts.

MIN - WR Michael Floyd to practice soon

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Goessling

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Floyd is back home in Minnesota, and it might be the answer after hitting rock bottom last year with this "extreme DUI" that caused him to be under house arrest. If healthy and motivated, Floyd can push for a role behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

    Sunday Update

KC - Kareem Hunt to be the top back?

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt will lead the team in rushing and be the leading receiver among the running backs, according to beat writer Adam Teicher.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation as Hunt was one of our favorite rookie RBs in this draft class. He can run with power, although he's not a guy who just wants to bull over defenders. Hunt can make people miss, and he's capable as a receiver too. The Chiefs will use a RBBC, but Hunt may be the lead back in that group which includes guys like SPencer Ware and Charcandrick West.

OAK - RB Marshawn Lynch fitting in

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Jimmy Durkin

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is making progress on the field and has 'meshed very well' with the rest of the team, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Thursday, May 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch is no doubt going to be a leader in the Raiders locker room. This may be the best offensive line he's ever run behind, and the veteran -- even after a year off -- should be considered a potential RB1 for fantasy owners. Right now, you can add Lynch at RB17 (4.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount to lead backfield?

    Source: Philly.com - Jimmy Kempski

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount will likely inherit the carries RB Ryan Mathews was given last year, according to beat writer Jimmy Kempski, and Kempski estimates Blount will see around 170 carries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That's a given as the other backs on the Eagles roster are more part-time or change-of-pace players. Mathews is likely to be released as soon as he's considered healthy coming back from neck surgery. Blount may not produce like he did last year (no.7 fantasy RB), but he should perform like a low-end RB2 (standard) or flex option (PPR) in fantasy leagues.

OAK - Oakland expects big jump from WR Amari Cooper

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said the team expects WR Amari Cooper to make a big leap in his play in 2017. McKenzie said Cooper played well early in the 2016 season but struggled a bit at the end of the season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His catches and yardage went up each of his two years in the league. His numbers might have been even better last year had it not been for the injury to QB Derek Carr. Cooper is one of the best young receivers in the league, and fantasy owners should consider him a low-end WR1 with upside.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker looking for big season

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker said he has been working more on his legs this offseason and expects to have a big season in 2017.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker missed some time because of hamstring problems this past season, but the ability to get 1,000 yards receiving is certainly there. Through 15 games last year, Parker amassed 744 yards receiving with four touchdowns. The addition of TE Julius Thomas (a noted TD hog) may not leave too many more red-zone targets for Parker in 2017. He's a WR5-ish for fantasy owners.

SF - Cole Hikutini a good fit in San Francisco

Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Eric Branch

San Francisco 49ers TE Cole Hikutini is a good fit for the offense and is the type of player head coach Kyle Shanahan is looking for in a tight end, according to vice president of player personnel Adam Peters.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shanahan's system is known to be TE friendly, so any player at the position working under him is an intriguing prospect. They don't have much at the position behind Vance McDonald, so we'll be monitoring Hikutini in deep dynasty leagues. He was a pure pass-catching weapon during his college days at Louisville and will have to likely shine on special teams just to make the 53-man roster.

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (Achilles') has looked 'quick and healthy' in offseason activities, according to JP Finlay of CSNMidAtlantic.com

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

After losing both DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) and Pierre Garcon (49ers) in free agency, Washington needs Doctson to be healthy, available and productive in 2017. Doctson should work as the no.2 WR opposite free agent addition Terrelle Pryor with Jamison Crowder working out of the slot.

LAR - Gerald Everett may have Jordan Reed role

    Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

Los Angeles Rams TE Gerald Everett said he expects to have a role similar to the one Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had in head coach Sean McVay's offensive scheme.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The potential to be a Pro Bowl caliber player (eventually) is there for the rookie from South Alabama. The Rams added Everett in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft with the idea that he could be a playmaker in McVay's offense. He's not a great route runner, but that could get better in time. What Everett can do is burn any linebacker trying to cover him after the catch. He's a mismatch on the field due to his athleticism and WR-like ball skills.

PIT - Xavier Grimble primed for more playing time?

    Source: PennLive.com - Jacob Klinger

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Xavier Grimble played more than twice as many snaps per game with Ladarius Green out than in last season. Prior to breaking his ribs in the second half of last season, Grimble averaged 19.9 snaps per contest.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Writers are only left to speculate who is going to be the lead tight end for the Steelers now that Ladarius Green has been released. Grimble is not a plus-athlete, but his big body (6'4" 261 pounds) helps him box out smaller defenders. He'll compete with Jesse James (the likely favorite) for the starting tight end job in 2017.

ATL - GM confident about RB Devonta Freeman deal

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said he is confident that the team will be able to sign RB Devonta Freeman to a contract extension. Dimitroff said talks between the two sides likely will occur around the start of training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dimitroff is confident, and we are too. Earlier reports indicate Freeman wants "elite" money for a running back. That likely puts him around $7-9 million annually. It's a hefty price to be sure, but Freeman is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons and worth it. We should see something get done around the time of training camp.

PHI - WR Dorial Green-Beckham likely on bubble

Source: NJ Advance Media - Matt Lombardo

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham likely will be on the roster bubble during training camp unless he gets a sudden grasp of the offense, in the opinion of NJ.com's Matt Lombardo.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Potential is a dirty, filthy word and Green-Beckham has always been a player with a ton of it...but he's never really played up to that potential. With the additions to the passing game like WRs Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery, we don't consider him a lock to make the final roster even though he's physically gifted.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coming out of UCF as a first-round pick in 2015, Perriman was an exciting prospect who scouts would compare physical traits with Josh Gordon. Perriman has a fine size/speed combination and can make big plays regularly. Injuries caused him to miss his rookie season, and last year Perriman only caught 33 passes for 499 yards and three touchdowns. With the retirement of Steve Smith, the Ravens are looking for another weapon to go along with Mike Wallace at the WR position.

Perkins is an elusive runner, but he's not a burner by any stretch of the imagination. As a smaller back, he shouldn't be asked to run between the tackles as that won't work consistently. The Giants should use Perkins in a RBBC (perhaps as the lead back) with rookie back Wayne Gallman. Perkins has a current ADP of RB35 (7.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

New York Giants RB Shane Vereen (triceps) is fully recovered after tearing his triceps twice last season.

Vereen is going to have a chance for snaps in a Giants backfield that is up in the air in 2017. Paul Perkins and Wayne Gallman will compete with Vereen for touches, but both of those young backs are currently ahead in the pecking order.
