WTF did Jaime Collins do to get shipped to Cleve for a 3rd rounder ???

Obviously, Pats organization is notoriously tight lipped.
Absolutely nothing came out about him being any problem in the locker room.

Was his contract up? Why middle of season?

Seems he might have been worth more than a 3rd rounder to someone?

He is looking for bigger bucks than pats are wiling to offer next year. He wasn't going to take hometown discount.

You think someone would give up a second rounder? good thing for pats. browns pick is like late second round, cause you're guaranteed to pick first in the third. Pats always looking ahead.

BG,I get that. But I think we could use him this year.
I guess getting basically a late 2nd rounder was worth it to the brain trust.

I just want them to find some beef on the O-line.

Chose Hightower over Collins. Smart move. Wouldn't keep both.

Chandler Jones wasn`t bad either. At least he got shipped to a (supposedly) good team.

Collins wakes up on a SB contender, then gets on a Southwest shuttle to the worst team in the NFL.
Wonder if his agent put out some demands?

kraft notoriously cheap. so tight he squeaks when he walks. they weren't going to pay collins so they did what they always do, move him for a draft pick

Not true. Pats spend every $ they are allowed to spend.

Players should get paid what they are worth. But instead of chasing the last $, they all should concentrate more on
    managing/protecting the money they have.

Bob kraft is definitely pinching pennies with this move. Collins was a good looking rookie that has done all the right things the coaching staff has asked for and now he's rdy to get paid as a veteran. Teams are transitioning over to using rookies on rookie salaries rather than paying a veteran more money. That's exactly what this move is and that's what has been happening for the past 2 decades since Corey clock killing Dillon went over

This has literally nothing to do with Kraft pinching pennies. The CBA dictates how much $ the teams can spend, and with the newish rookie caps, teams league wide are utilizing this strategy. This ain`t MLB thank god. Every $ means something.

Wonder where the Pats rank in salary paid to coaches/support staff ? Bet it is right at or near the top all coming out of Bob`s wallet.

Nah, this is for a compensatory third which means Pats will be picking at the end of the 3rd round.

Strange move but hard to criticize a franchise that has been successfully doing shit like this for years.

Teams have to spend that money or lose it. Which means he's skimping in one area to spend up in another. It's pinching pennies from a partial perspective

Can't argue with results. Good players are shipped out, but it never seems to hurt Pats winning ways.

(IMHO) True or not, the Boston perception is that Kraft is a penny-pincher.

    I'm shaken by this.

Collins must've been acting up. They don't let guys set a bad example. Last year he was sidelined for a number of games, not even allowed near the stadium, with some sort of nasty std infection to the face. That was strike one and two.....

on pace for a few more total tackles, as well as more solo tackles as last year. still a force. Pats have been able to make due without him but he's playing at basically the same level as he did for NE.

All you guys who said it are correct: Kraft has to be the cheapest owner going. LOL. If not, he is in the top two. His lovely wife and her Dad were the philanthropist's in this group, not him. He even had to go to Myra to get the money to buy the Patriots, it was her money not his. She even dictated who stayed or got drafted. They drafted some guy (Christian something) I think was his name, and when she heard he slapped his girlfriend in college, (this was like 12 years ago) she told them to nix that deal.

well documented and well known he married myra for her money. yes, he must spend all the money he's supposed to spend on salaries but would rather spend it on younger players than pay this guy the salary he will be commanding.

Which certainly is his right. I still want someone to explain to me how Bob Kraft can be such a cheap SOB
but they just keep on winning?

I believe BB and his inner circle put a value on each player/position to maximize the balance of the entire team.
With very few exceptions, that is a hard/fast rule.
Their payroll is every dollar they are allowed to spend.

If Bob is cheap in his personal life, like many rich guys, not picking up checks, etc, I don`t give a shiet.

I bet Pats staff/support etc. is one of the highest in the league.
