NFL Player News - Week 8

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

MIA - RB Arian Foster Retiring Source: Chris Wesseling - NFL.com

Arian Foster announced his retirement Monday. ""This game has been everything to me ... my therapy, my joy, my solace and my enemy," Foster wrote via Uninterrupted.com. "I've learned to love every facet of this game, from the peak of accomplishment to the gutter of criticism. And it all makes the ride worthwhile. I've been fortunate enough to play many successful years in this league. I've given a lot to this game and given up a lot for it. But it has returned to me more than I could have ever asked for."

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foster's always been his own guy so this unusual timing isn't terribly surprising. The game simply requires more than he felt he could give. We wish him the best in whatever is next for Foster.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman not expected to play

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 8 because of his hamstring injury, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Get ready for as much Devonta Freeman as he can handle. There's no need to rush Coleman back from this injury. Freeman is a RB1 in any format while Coleman is out.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy likely questionable

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will probably be questionable for Week 8 after aggravating his hamstring injury in Week 7, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Same as it ever was. The reports out of Buffalo seem to indicate we're going to deal with the same thing we did on Sunday in regards to McCoy and his primary backup Mike Gillislee. Add Reggie Bush to the mix, and you can see how this Bills RB situation is a messy one for fantasy owners.

NYJ - QB Geno Smith has torn ACL

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New York Jets QB Geno Smith (knee) suffered a torn ACL in a Week 7 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Earlier reports indicated he was going to be okay. Well, a torn ACL isn't okay. Tough break for Smith here.

SD - TE Hunter Henry in concussion protocol

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers TE Hunter Henry (concussion) is going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike McCoy. Henry dealt with symptoms after the team's Week 7 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to monitor this. Henry has been a great rookie TE for the Chargers, but without him they'll just use Antonio Gates more.

PIT - TE Ladarius Green hopes to practice this week Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ray Fittipaldo

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) told the media he expects to speak with head coach Mike Tomlin on Monday, Oct. 24, in hopes he can begin practice during the team's Week 8 bye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Only fantasy owners in deep leagues should be monitoring Green's status. He's naturally talented and quite athletic, but Green is also banged up quite a bit. The Steelers offense isn't one we're investing in (outside of Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown) until Ben Roethlisberger comes back.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler holding out hope for Week 8

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) was reportedly feeling good a few hours after suffering a concussion in a Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and is holding out hope to play in Week 8 against the New York Jets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is going to take it easy on the rookie. If Kessler can't go, perhaps Josh McCown will be ready to return to the lineup.

CHI - QB Jay Cutler cleared to play

    Source: Northwest Herald

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is expected to make his return following a five-week absence in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Brian Hoyer recovering from surgery to repair his broken arm, Cutler should step back into the starting lineup.

KC - KC downplays RB Jamaal Charles lack of use

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) was limited to one carry on two snaps in a Week 7 win over the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Andy Reid told the media, 'His leg wasn't feeling right. That was it.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charles isn't himself, and there's no need to give him a larger workload with the way that Spencer Ware is playing. Rinse, repeat what we've seen the last two weeks (lots of Ware, barely any Charles) and you have the Chiefs likely gameplan going forward.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls expected back in two weeks

Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer - Stephen Cohen

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (leg) is expected to be ready to return in two weeks, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rawls will be back, but what will his role be? The Seahawks have been getting quality play out of starter Christine Michael, and behind him they have an interesting selection of multi-skilled backs like Alex Collins, C.J. Prosise and C.J. Spiller.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant continues to progress

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee) was 'doing everything' during the part of practice open to the media Monday, Oct. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys had a bye in Week 7, and that gave Bryant more time to heal. He's missed three games leading up to the bye, but this is the week he should return. Monitor his status as the week of practice goes on. If healthy, Bryant is a WR1 option for fantasy owners.

NYJ - QB Bryce Petty not ready to play

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty (shoulder) has not completely recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered during the preseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Petty isn't ready, and he may not be that good. The Jets have four QBs on the roster, and none of them may be the QB of the future.

BUF - WR Robert Woods making progress

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) is making solid progress in his recovery from a foot injury but his status for Week 8 is uncertain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Woods can't play, it leaves the Bills especially thin at WR. Marquise Goodwin suffered a concussion in Week 7 and his status is up in the air. Justin Hunter may be the top WR for the Bills in Week 8.

ARI - WR Michael Floyd should play
Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 8 despite suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Floyd finished week 7 with five catches for 65 yards. This week against an inexperienced Panthers secondary, the veteran could be worth starting as a 'what the heck' flex at least.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert will have bigger role

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (back) role will expand going forward, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Eifert was limited to just third downs and red-zone plays.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Most fantasy owners should have waited to see what Eifert looked like in his first game back. His 1-for-9 stat line against the Browns is nothing to get excited about, but Eifert's upside in the future is. As he gets worked more into the offense, Eifert will eventually have TE1 value for fantasy owners.

WAS - Smaller workload for RB Matt Jones?

Source: The Washington Post - Liz Clarke

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones could have his workload decreased following a lost fumble in Week 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We could see that happening as the team has two productive backups in Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley. Thompson is the speedy back who can get through a tiny crease and he's a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Kelley is more of an all-purpose back with the size to run between the tackles. Fantasy owners need to monitor this closely and know that Jones may be losing out on touches in the near future.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed can resume practicing

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, after missing the last two weeks due to a concussion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for fantasy owners -- and QB Kirk Cousins -- here. Reed still must be cleared by an independent neurologist, however, before he can play in Week 8 in London against the Cincinnati Bengals.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker suffers bruised chest

    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Kuharsky

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (chest) came away from his team's Week 7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a bruised chest, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team will monitor Walker's progress as the year goes on. When healthy and on the field, we'll be recommending Walker as a TE1 every week.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker falling down depth chart?

    Source: The Miami Herald

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker played 49-of-73 snaps (67 percent) in a Week 7 win over the Buffalo Bills, marking the first time he has logged fewer than 82 percent of the team's offensive snaps since his season debut in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's been all downhill for Parker after his Week 1 performance (eight catches, 106 yards) against the Patriots. With the Dolphins running the ball often -- and with incredible success -- there's no need to air it out. Parker will only catch a few passes in most games. He's droppable in most leagues for better additions via the waiver wire.

    Wednesday Update

PIT - TE Ladarius Green to practice

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) is expected to practice Tuesday, Oct. 25, for the first time this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green is an interesting prospect to watch in deep leagues. He's incredibly athletic, and the Steelers could use more weapons in the passing game. When healthy, they'll likely ease him into action.

LA - QB Jared Goff a 'long way from playing'

    Source: BleacherReport.com - Jason Cole

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff is expected to see first-team repetitions during the team's bye week, but the No. 1 overall pick remains 'a long way from playing' because he has yet to master changing plays at the line of scrimmage, according to source within the Rams' organization.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Case Keenum threw four interceptions in Week 7, but the Rams don't seem to be leaning towards Goff yet. Jeff Fisher expressed frustration after the game, but he insisted that he would make changes at WR before changing his QB.

WAS - CB Josh Norman's status to be known Thursday

Source: The Washington Post - Master Tesfatsion

Washington Redskins CB Josh Norman (concussion) will see a doctor Tuesday, Oct. 25, to determine where he stands in regards to the concussion he suffered in a Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We should get an update on his status from the team in the near future. The team has stated publicly they will need to have an answer about Norman's playing status no later than Thursday because they leave for London to play the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. Without Norman, Washington would be even more vulnerable to the pass. You're already starting A.J. Green, but a more robust Bengals passing attack could include more for guys like Brandon LaFell and Tyler Eifert.

SD - RB Melvin Gordon could see fewer carries

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon is on pace for 315 carries this season - a total that would put him in the top 10 in team history. However, running backs coach Ollie Wilson has expressed concern that kind of workload may be a bit too much for a player coming off microfracture knee surgery this winter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's important for the Chargers to monitor this situation. Gordon has been a TD-scoring machine this year, and that has kept his fantasy value high. However, his numbers on the ground have been average (or below average) and Gordon doesn't have a 100-yard game since Week 2. They lack depth behind him, so it's wise for the Chargers to consider lightening Gordon's workload. He's still an RB1 for fantasy owners due to his TD-scoring tendencies.

SF - WR Torrey Smith not being shopped

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Matt Maiocco

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith isn't being shopped, and a trade isn't anticipated, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There could be a small handful of teams interested in Smith, but we can't imagine the market would be white-hot for his services.

DEN - QB Trevor Siemian has more freedom

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian has been given more freedom to make decisions at the line of scrimmage, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian is allowed to change plays in an 'either/or' situation based on what he sees from the defense. With the Broncos getting their ground game on track, we should see more balance from the offense -- and they should lean run-heavy in most games.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas held out of practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Kuharsky

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jaguars have a short week as they play on Thursday night against the Titans. Thomas has been bothered with this ankle injury, so we're expecting him to be limited right up to game time. At this time, fantasy owners should assume that Thomas is going to play but have different options ready.

DEN - OLB DeMarcus Ware should practice

Source: The Denver Post - Cameron Wolfe

Denver Broncos LB DeMarcus Ware (forearm) is expected to return to practice this week, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The future Hall of Fame pass-rusher could return to the field this week. The Broncos play the Chargers at home on Sunday, and Ware could be eased in as a part-time player.

DEN - RB Devontae Booker outsnaps C.J. Anderson

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos rookie RB Devontae Booker played 35 offensive snaps against the Houston Texans in Week 7. RB C.J. Anderson was in for 29 offensive snaps.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are going to use a 50/50 split at running back from here on out....and it's a good thing for both Anderson and Booker. Anderson had his first 100-yard game of the season on Monday night as Booker is producing and pushing Anderson to do more. Fantasy owners should consider Anderson a RB2/flex and Booker a flex play going forward.

HOU - QB Brock Osweiler won't be benched

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson
Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler will not be benched, according to head coach Bill O'Brien, who said he hasn't even considered benching the quarterback.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans are spending $18 million a year on Osweiler. He's going to get every chance to deliver this season. He doesn't play well against good defenses, but Osweiler can thrive against weaker opponents. The next three defenses for the Texans (Lions, Jaguars, Raiders) are all teams Osweiler can look good against.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller day-to-day

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (shoulder) is considered day-to-day with a shoulder injury. Miller played through the injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Miller went to the locker room twice on Monday night against the Broncos. His large workload this season is wearing his body down, so fantasy owners need to stash Alfred Blue on the bench if they can.

ATL - Atlanta signs RB Stevan Ridley

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (Colts) was signed by the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday, Oct. 25. LB A.J. Hawk was released in a corresponding move.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley gives the team veteran depth at the position. We're not counting on him to do much with the Falcons. Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is banged up, so Devonta Freeman should get all the work he can handle going forward.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler must protect himself

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) has proven his toughness and must try to better protect himself, according to head coach Hue Jackson. 'I don't want to take the fight out of him, but he also has to understand the situation he's in,' Jackson said. Kessler left the Browns' Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with a concussion. 'If you're not playing, then we're hurting the team,' Jackson added. 'I don't think Cody was trying to do anything to hurt his football team. He was trying to do everything he could to help his team score.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A young QB is always going to try and make a play. Kessler has shown great toughness during his time as the team's starter. Head injuries are a huge concern in the NFL today, and Kessler must do a better job of protecting himself in certain situations from taking unnecessary punishment.

CHI - WR Eddie Royal not at practice

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (toe) was not present for practice Tuesday, Oct. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's early, so we'll be watching to see if Royal can practice later in the week. The Bears play at home against the Vikings on Monday Night Football in Week 8.

CHI - RB Jeremy Langford returns to practice

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (ankle) participated in practice Tuesday, Oct. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Langford's return is going to cut into the fantasy value of Jordan Howard. The Bears could have a three-headed RBBC with Kadeem Carey in the mix as well. You'll want to avoid the situation anyway this week with a tough matchup against the Vikings on Monday night.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger hoping to practice next week

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is hopeful he can return to practice after the team comes off its Week 8 bye, but he is not committing to a timetable for his return to game action. The Steelers are 'cautiously optimistic' he could be ready to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Four to six weeks is for regular humans. Like Logan, Roethlisberger has an amazing ability to heal quickly. He's always been able to return from injury much sooner than expected. This time around, Roethlisberger could miss only a few weeks where others might miss twice as long with the same injury.

PHI - RB Ryan Mathews' job safe for now

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews has committed a late fumble in two of the last three games, but head coach Doug Pederson does not plan to demote him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

For now is the key part of the headline. Mathews doesn't give you confidence as a fantasy owner. He's hurt almost all the time (it seems), but when not banged up he's fumbling the rock away. Watch to see if the Eagles start to make a move in a different direction with more touches for guys like Wendell Smallwood.

IND - WR Phillip Dorsett to practice

    Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett (hamstring) will return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and head coach Chuck Pagano said Dorsett is trending in the right direction.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dorsett has disappointed this year. He's not produced at an acceptable level, even though his opportunity was larger with the injury to Donte Moncrief.

IND - WR Donte Moncrief due back at practice

    Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief (scapula) will return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, in a limited capacity for the first time since Week 2. This is his sixth week of recovery in a four-to-six-week timetable.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Moncrief could return to the lineup soon. The Colts need him as only WR T.Y. Hilton and TE Jack Doyle have been reliable targets. When Moncrief returns, it will benefit QB Andrew Luck but it may take away some looks from Doyle.

Goff must not be ready. Otherwise they would put him in. Keenum is lucky he is even starting in the NFL

    Thursday Update

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson to miss time

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafalo

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is expected to miss at least a few weeks because of a knee injury. He is scheduled to receive a second opinion on the knee to see if he will be sidelined for an extended period of time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Anderson possibly down for a few weeks, rookie Devontae Booker will take over a large workload for the Broncos. We'll see if the second opinion Anderson is getting improves the outlook on his knee injury. It seems doubtful that Anderson is going to play against the Chargers on Sunday. Stay tuned.

Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Vic Tafur

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is expected to handle the bulk of the carries going forward, in the opinion of beat writer Vic Tafur, with the rookie RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard serving as a change of pace.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Let's hope Tafur is right here and we can get some clarity on the Raiders RB situation.

TB - RB Doug Martin to be treated cautiously

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) is expected to be treated cautiously in his return from his hamstring injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's the smart move. With the way that Jacquizz Rodgers is playing, there's no need to rush Martin back.

If Jordan Reed (concussion) doesn't play, then Davis could be relied on as a TE2 with upside.

Keep an eye on this Washington RB situation. Jones has not yet fumbled his job away, but the team might look to guys like Chris Thompson or Rob Kelley if the problems continue.

HOU - QB Brock Osweiler has full practice

Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler (foot) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On paper, Osweiler should be able to take advantage of the Lions defense....but does anyone have confidence (even the Texans) in him with the way that he's played? You likely have better streaming options out there.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller not full go

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron is getting closer to a return, but fantasy owners should not be looking to him as a starter if he even plays. Anquan Boldin is getting some TE-like routes and looks in the red zone.

DET - RB Dwayne Washington a full participant

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Dwayne Washington (ankle) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Washington is going to be back this week for the Lions. It's a good matchup against a weak Texans run defense, but we can't recommend Washington (or any other Lions RB not named Theo Riddick) anything more than a low-end desperation flex play at best.

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Riddick could thrive against the Texans on Sunday if he plays. In PPR leagues, Riddick should be considered a RB3 or flex play.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles limited

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We shouldn't see that much of Charles. The Chiefs are moving forward with Spencer Ware, and he's a RB1 for fantasy owners. Even if Charles plays, he should be quite limited as he continues to deal with this knee problem.

DEN - QB Trevor Siemian full go

    Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian says he's getting better each day. He returned from this shoulder injury two weeks ago against the Chargers and had a poor game even though he threw the ball 50 times. This week against the Chargers, Siemian should run a more balanced offense.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas limited

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas has been bothered by this hip injury off and on this season. He's toughed it out this year through games, and we've got him as a WR2 with upside against the Chargers in Week 8.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte should be good to go for Sunday's game. Against the Browns, Forte should perform like a RB1..and a top-10 RB at that.

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're likely to go through the same thing we did last week with these Bills RBs. McCoy may try to play with this injury, but he's clearly not himself. Mike Gillislee would have better fantasy value if McCoy was completely shut down, but that might not be the case. Find other options if you can unless it's clear that McCoy is going to get his normal role.

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief could be back this week against the Chiefs. That would boost the passing game (when he's fully healthy), and it could negatively impact the fantasy value of TE Jack Doyle.

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We could see McCown back in action as the Browns starter with Cody Kessler going through the concussion protocol. With six teams on bye and against a bad Jets secondary, McCown is only a low-end QB2 in Week 8.

    Friday Update

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson may be ready for playoffs

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is expected to miss eight to 12 weeks because of his knee surgery, but the Broncos hope that he will be able to return for the playoffs. The severity of the injury will not be known until the surgery occurs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect Booker to be firmly ensconced as the starter when Anderson comes back. Given the length of fantasy seasons, Anderson is done for fantasy purposes.

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan said he is not sure about RB LeSean McCoy's (hamstring) availability for Week 8 and that team will see how he progresses over the next few days.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It really is foolish to risk another setback like Sunday. We're not sure McCoy would be worth a play if he does get the green light, given what happened last weekend. Add in a game against the Patriots and the whole thing seems like a bad plan. Avoid it.

DEN - RB Devontae Booker expected to start

Source: KOAA NBC Colorado Springs - Grant Meech

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are going to run the ball hard at the Chargers, which makes Booker a solid RB1 play this week. He runs well between the tackles and is a determined finisher. Booker can also catch the ball very well and will be part of the passing game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

CHI - QB Jay Cutler may have been done

Cutler is in the final season of guaranteed money in his contract.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've long thought there was no real love between Fox and Cutler, so this is no surprise. Cutler could be a decent starter somewhere and there will be teams in the market, so we expect him to be in a new jersey next season.

He'll be in the game, don't you worry. Unfortunately, between his drop issues and Trevor Siemian being, well, Trevor Siemian, his ceiling is lower than it should be. Consider him a decent WR2 play this week against San Diego.

NYJ - Limited practice for RB Bilal Powell

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (toe) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Powell has ended up as a very expensive caddy for Matt Forte's water bottle, and unless Forte gets hurt or the offense changes, his best days are only RB4 level. He should not be in your lineup unless your playing him as a bet that Forte leaves the game with an injury. Keep in mind, nobody likes when people are betting for craps at the Vegas tables either—it's bad karma.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cleveland is a good matchup for the Jets passing offense, so even if the team skews more towards the run to protect Ryan Fitzpatrick from himself, Marshall will have a productive day. He's Fitz's favorite target and also the best receiver remaining on the team with Eric Decker out. Start him as a WR1.

CAR - QB Cam Newton will continue to run

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton said he will continue to run between the tackles even though he suffered a concussion earlier in the season. He said his running ability makes defenses prepare for extra things. He said he understands that some of the hits he has taken are preventable.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Well those ground yards are part of the appeal for fantasy owners—maybe the only appeal for most of the year. There's not much going on offensively for the Panthers right now, so Newton has little choice. We feel he will put up some good points at home in a critical conference game as his team hangs on by a thread. Consider him a decent QB1 against Arizona, in part because he can run.

Josh McCown should get the start this weekend and against a shaky Jets offense could be a decent bye week replacement, if you're desperate. Keep in mind, as bad as the Jets defense has been, they held Joe Flacco to 248 yards and no touchdowns while racking up two picks. McCown is no Joe Flacco.

It can't get much worse than it was last week. Luckily, Detroit's defense is not Denver's. While we think he will rebound and his receivers will benefit, we don't trust Osweiler as more than a low-end QB2.

They have much cheaper options that are producing in his absence.

At this point, any reason to not drop Jamaal Charles? He's been eating up roster space that I could use. Even if he comes back, it is doubtful he is going to be getting a full load of touches with the way Ware has been playing.

It sucks for me, 3 of my first 5 draft picks were Peterson, Charles, and D. Martin. Peterson has been long gone of course, but I have been carrying the other 2 on the bench. Seems like Martin has a better chance to come back and produce so I figure I'll keep him and drop Charles.

It's my first playing FF. Thoughts? Any input is appreciated.

    Saturday Update

KC - RB Jamaal Charles will sit vs. Colts

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) has been ruled out for Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spencer Ware is an elite RB1 fantasy play against the thin Colts run defense. His receiving ability makes him game script proof if Andrew Luck builds a lead early at home against the Chiefs.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy sits again Friday

Source: WGR Sports Radio 550 - Sal Capaccio

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy is doubtful to play on Sunday vs. the Patriots. Mike Gillislee will get the start with Reggie Bush and Jonathan Williams mixing in, but it could be a quiet day for the Bills running game if the Patriots can jump out to lead behind Tom Brady and the passing game.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson placed on IR

    Source: NESN.com - Doug Kyed

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Devontae Booker looks like a rest of season RB1 as the starter in the Broncos running game, which is gelling and should get good game scripts because of the quality of their defense. Kapri Bibbs becomes the backup and he's worth carrying in deep leagues. Anderson could return for the playoffs, but it is unlikely.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller could be limited Week 8

    Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (shoulder) expects to play in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions but is unsure how long he will be able to go, according to ESPN's Sarah Barshop.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller will likely split the workload 50-50 with Alfred Blue, making both flex plays against the Lions. Blue has a higher ceiling with the possibility that Miller is limited in-game once he tests his shoulder.

TB - RB Doug Martin ruled out for Week 8

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) has been ruled out for the team's Week 8 contest Sunday, Oct. 30, versus the Oakland Raiders.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Martin appears to be at least a week away from returning. Jacquizz Rodgers has been so good in his absence that the Bucs will take their time with Martin coming back to the lineup.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman ruled out

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) will not play in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could be a multi-week injury for Coleman. Hamstrings are especially trick for speed players that need to be able to confidently open the throttle. Devonta Freeman is a strong RB1 this week despite the tough matchup against the Packers run defense.

CLE - QB Josh McCown named Week 8 starter

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) will start Week 8 versus the New York Jets.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCown is a viable streamer against a Jets defense that is so strong against the run that they encourage teams to pass on an old Darrelle Revis and no-name secondary.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert likely to be more involved

    Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert should play a 'much closer to full' role against the Washington Redskins in Week 8 after being limited to 15 snaps in a Week 7 versus the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert becomes a strong TE1 this week against Washington. Owners that waited on him should be rewarded.

    10. WAS - TE Jordan Reed taking part
Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafalo
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is participating in practice Friday, Oct. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Reed is on track to play and he should be in your lineup against the Bengals this week as long as he is active.

WAS - RB Matt Jones out of practice

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafalo

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones (knee) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rob Kelley will get the start this week making him at least a flex play and a desperation RB2 for teams strapped by injuries and the six-team bye week.

BUF - RB Mike Gillislee questionable for Week 8

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said Gillislee will play despite the questionable tag. Fire him up as a flex play or desperation RB2, but know that if the Patriots can control this game with their high-powered offense, he might be marginalized as the Bills play catchup.

    SEA - S Kam Chancellor a no-go in Week 8

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks S Kam Chancellor (groin) will miss his third straight game in Week 8 versus the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chancellor's absence will make the middle of the field more hospitable for Coby Fleener and Michael Thomas.

SEA - DE Michael Bennett to miss Week 8

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks DL Michael Bennett (knee) has been ruled out for Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bennett has been a force for the Seahawks at times, so this loss is big and it upgrades the matchup for Drew Brees and the Saints passing game this week in the Superdome.

GB - Questionable tag for WR Ty Montgomery

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. The Packers did not practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Montgomery is almost a must play as long as he is active. He has 10 catches in back to back games and should see some time as a running back too, including in the red zone. Also make sure everyone in your league is clear on how you're handing Montgomery as a RB or a WR. This is one of those situations where the league commissioner has to make a firm decision if your league constitution isn't crystal clear on how a player is defined.

NE - TE Martellus Bennett questionable for Week 8

    Source: MassLive.com - Kevin Duffy

New England Patriots TE Martellus Bennett (ankle) missed practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bennett was spotted with a brace on his ankle. He might miss the game against the Bills, which would boost the potential targets for Julian Edelman, James White, and Chris Hogan.

GB - WR Randall Cobb listed as questionable

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. The Packers did not practice Friday, Oct. 28, so this is an estimation.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb has a high ceiling with his fit in the Packers new spread, quick-strike offense, especially with the chance to get snaps at running back, but he could be limited or re-injure his hamstring during the game. We'll be watching this one closely.

ARI - WR John Brown expects to suit up Sunday

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) said he expects to play in the team's Week 8 game Sunday, Oct. 30, against the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Bruce Arians also believes Brown will suit up as well.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown could have a big game with Michael Floyd a game-time decision and the Panthers weak secondary giving up huge numbers through the air this year. He's worth a look as an upside WR3/Flex.

ATL - WR Mohamed Sanu expected to play

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanu deserves some flex consideration against a Packers secondary that lost two of its top three corners to major injuries, including #1 Sam Shields and will also be without #3 corner Quinten Rollins.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas should play in Week 8

    Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is still being affected by the hip and his upside is limited in any given week. Consider him a low ceiling WR2/WR3 against the Chargers this week.

SD - TE Hunter Henry listed as questionable

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers TE Hunter Henry (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry had a big game the first time the Chargers played the Broncos two weeks ago, and Philip Rivers isn't likely to test the cornerbacks very often. Consider Henry a viable streaming tight end this week with six teams on bye.

NYJ - Two key Jets players upgraded to full

    Source: NFLMedia.com

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) and WR Brandon Marshall (foot) each practiced in full Friday, Oct. 28. Forte did not participate in practice the previous day, though he did manage to get in a limited session Wednesday, Oct. 26. Marshall sat out the first practice of the week before practicing on a limited basis Thursday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They are both must plays against the dream matchup of the Browns defense, but both will be sell highs after that with the state of the Jets quarterback position.

    SD - Tyrell Williams questionable

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers WR Tyrell Williams (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He should be on your bench anyway against a Broncos secondary that hasn't given up a wide receiver score since Week 1.

SD - WR Travis Benjamin's status in question

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct.

BUF - WR Robert Woods questionable for Week 8

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) has been listed as questionable for Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Woods should play and lead the team in targets and catches. He might be a good high floor PPR WR3/Flex if Tom Brady and company can successfully move the ball and build a lead, forcing Tyrod Taylor to play catchup this week.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray undergoing MRI

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (toe) is awaiting the results of an MRI on the toe injury that caused him to miss the last two minutes of the first half in a Week 8 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Derrick Henry could be a valuable RB1 at the helm of the exotic smashmouth running game if Murray misses any time. He should be owned in every league.

IND - WR Donte Moncrief set to return

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Stephen Holder

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief (shoulder) has been cleared to play and will start Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief's return helps Andrew Luck but it might take the edge off of the ceiling of TY Hilton and Jack Doyle. Consider Moncrief a WR3/Flex this week with more value in PPR leagues.

WAS - CB Josh Norman tabbed questionable

Source: The Washington Post - Mike Jones

Washington Redskins CB Josh Norman (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Norman is on track to play, but he will have his hands full with AJ Green. We wouldn't downgrade Green's matchup greatly on this news.

who was the idiot that sent McCoy out against Miami? do they not know anything about hamstrings? may end up missing multiple weeks now.

    they should be fired.

    Monday Update

KC - RB Spencer Ware out with concussion

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (concussion) suffered a concussion during the team's Week 8 game and will not return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charcandrick West could start next week against the reeling Jaguars. Jamaal Charles doesn't seem close to playing, so the Chiefs might call up Darrin Reaves from the practice squad next week. Ware was a disaster in a week that supposed to be huge for him.

KC - QB Alex Smith suffers concussion

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (concussion) suffered a concussion during the team's Week 8 game and will not return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith seemed to be in a lot worse shape after his second hard hit to the head. Nick Foles could get the start next week in a great matchup against Jacksonville.

TB - So-so day for RB Jacquizz Rodgers

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed 19 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Oakland Raiders, and he added one reception for nine yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers also left the game in overtime with a foot injury. The Bucs play on Thursday night, so chances are Peyton Barber and Antone Smith will split the work as Doug Martin won't be ready this week. The Bucs are down to their fourth and fifth running backs.

TB - QB Jameis Winston tosses two TDs

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed 16 of his 32 pass attempts for 180 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Oakland Raiders. He also rushed three times for 16 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winston was inconsistent today, but he didn't make any big mistakes. He's a high floor matchup QB1 next week against Atlanta.

IND - QB Andrew Luck up and down in loss

Source: The Associated Press - Michael Marot

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was 19-for-35 for 210 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 30-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Luck also had nine rushes for 60 yards but fumbled once and threw an interception.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Luck had a rough day with an inconsistent offensive line and ineffective TY Hilton. He is showing that he still has a high floor because he'll have to frantically try to come back when things don't work. Keep him in your lineup next week against the Packers in what should be a high-scoring game for the Packers at least.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart catches two TDs

    Source: NFL.com

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. He also caught one pass for 25 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart has two rushing scores in back to back games and his value is surging since he came back from his hamstring injury. He could remain a lead option in goal line situations if the Panthers are trying to avoid a second concussion for Cam Newton. Next week, Stewart gets the Rams defense.

KC - QB Nick Foles effective in QB relief

Source: The Associated Press - Michael Marot

Kansas City Chiefs QB Nick Foles was 16-for-22 for 223 yards and two touchdowns in relief of QB Alex Smith (concussion). The Chiefs beat the Indianapolis Colts, 30-14, on Sunday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The most important takeaway here is that the Colts pass defense is terrible and Aaron Rodgers is going to go up and down the field on them next week. Foles would face Jacksonville if he starts next week, so there are worse options out there.

CAR - QB Cam Newton has ok outing

    Source: NFL.com

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton went 14-for-27 for 212 yards against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. He also rushed for 43 yards on seven carries during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton was a fantasy dud because Jonathan Stewart punched in both of the short yardage running scores and the team also settled for field goals multiple times. It's fair to wonder if the Panthers will use him as much as runner around the goal line after he was concussed, but Newton should still be a strong QB1 in any event with a porous Panthers pass defense that is likely to get him in high-scoring games.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald catches 10 passes

    Source: NFL.com

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald caught 10 passes for 74 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzgerald was hobbled by a foot issue for part of this game, but he'll have the bye to heal. He is on pace to set a career-high in catches for the second-straight season.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller leads HOU rushing

Source: The Associated Press - Kristie Rieken

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller ran 17 times for 56 yards in a 20-13 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Oct. 30. Miller also had one 1-yard touchdown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller was not as effective as usual despite Detroit missing Haloti Ngata, but Alfred Blue missed time with a rib issue and Miller was able to score after a sick DeAndre Hopkins one-handed catch down to the one yard line. He has a well-timed bye that should hopefully allow his shoulder injury to heal. He's an RB2 going forward.

ARI - JJ Nelson catches two touchdowns

    Source: NFL.com

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson caught eight passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8.

Nelson should be a hot waiver wire pickup heading into his bye as Michael Floyd, Larry Fitzgerald, and John Brown should all get healthier during the Cardinals' bye, but Nelson showed he is deserving of more consideration over Michael Floyd, who has disappointed all year. Add him in PPR leagues if you can afford the spot.

ARI - RB David Johnson involved in passing game

    Source: NFL.com

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson caught seven passes for 84 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. He also rushed for 24 yards on 10 carries during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers had kryptonite for Johnson in the running game, but he salvaged a decent fantasy day on his catches in garbage time. He's the #1 running back in fantasy football heading into his bye.

DET - TE Eric Ebron posts solid day

Source: The Associated Press - Kristie Rieken
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught seven passes for 79 yards Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron was back and came through big in his expanded role. The Lions don't have a true #1 receiver, but Ebron has taken back over in the middle of the field. He's a high floor TE1 going forward.

DET - RB Theo Riddick leads DET rushers

Source: The Associated Press - Kristie Rieken

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick ran 11 times for 56 yards Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Riddick also had eight catches for 77 yards and a score to give him a Brian Westbrook-esque RB1 line in PPR leagues. The Lions don't seem to like any of their other running backs, so Riddick is going to remain an everyweek RB2 in PPR leagues and at a flex in nonPPR leagues.

ARI - QB Carson Palmer throws for three TDs

    Source: NFL.com

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went 35-for-46 for 363 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. He also fumbled twice with the team losing possession on one of the fumbles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Palmer was getting battered early in this game but he was able to put up a very nice fantasy game with a garbage time comeback effort. Heading into the bye Palmer doesn't really have momentum, but he does have some good second half matchups on his side. He's a matchup play and QBBC member at this point with upside if his receiver corps can get healthier.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert catches TD pass

    Source: NFL.com

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught nine passes for 102 yards and one touchdown against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert was a little slow on the hoof compared to last year, but otherwise was his old self in a return to red zone and TE1 prominence. He's just off of the level of Rob Gronkowski and basically an elite TE1 heading into his bye.

CIN - RB Giovani Bernard involved in run, pass game

    Source: NFL.com

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 8. He also caught one pass for 14 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard scored early to buoy a flexworthy day, but he wasn't involved in the passing game, so he had an otherwise quiet day. He's a high floor PPR flex heading into his bye.

CIN - RB Jeremy Hill scores TD in Week 8

    Source: NFL.com

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill had a little trouble with his shoulder/chest/arm injury early, but once the Bengals came back in the second half, he got a lot of work and easily converted a goal line chance to put up a solid flex day heading into his bye. That's all Hill is this year with the Bengals ups and downs, but he has a top five RB ceiling in any given week.

WAS - TE Vernon Davis finishes for 93 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis caught five passes for 93 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis isn't as fast as he used to be, but he's still fast enough to get free in the secondary. He a good desperation play tight end after his bye, and if Jordan Reed goes down, we'll rank Davis as TE1.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed plays well in return

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed caught nine passes for 99 yards and one touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed only missed two games with the six known concussion of his football career. He was strong on his catch and run score and he looks every bit the part of an elite TE1 heading into his bye.

WAS - WR Jamison Crowder finishes for 107 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder caught nine passes for 107 yards and one touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder is getting open in the middle of the field and even big games by both Washington tight ends did not keep him from scoring well in this game. He's a high floor bench depth option who deserves WR3/Flex consideration in good matchups heading into his bye.

WAS - Rob Kelley finds the end zone

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelley isn't swift, but he showed some nifty footwork combined with toughness on his touchdown run, and he was efficient. He might have forced an RBBC going into the bye. Washington certainly won't rush Matt Jones back from his knee injury.

WAS - QB Kirk Cousins has big performance

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins went 38-for-56 for 458 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Cousins had some troubles in the red zone in the first half that kept Washington from building a big lead, but if his kicker had been competent, he would have notched the overtime win. The offense is starting to come together heading into the bye, so Cousins will is becoming a stronger matchup QB1.
