SD - WR Keenan Allen out for the season Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is being placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 12, with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He is out for the season.

Terrible news for the Chargers and fantasy owners. Allen is a supremely talented player who has battled injuries during his pro career. He's yet to play a full 16-game season in four years, and over the last two years Allen has only played in nine games. His availability for the start of the 2017 season is unclear at this time. In the meantime, Travis Benjamin takes over as the lead WR for the Chargers.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas sustains ankle injury
Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in a Week 1 loss against the Green Bay Packers.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It wouldn't be a regular season without Thomas getting banged up. He's talented but Thomas is one of the most oft-injured players in the league. There's no word on the severity of this ankle injury, so monitor his practice status during the week.

CLE - Robert Griffin placed on IR
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Robert Griffin III (shoulder) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sep. 12, with a fractured coracoid bone. He will not undergo surgery and will be reevaluated in three to four weeks.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Per NFL.com: Under the new injured reserve rules for the 2016 season, each team can designate one player to return. Designation does not need to be made until that player is able to return to practice. A player placed on injured reserve is eligible to return to practice in six weeks and must miss a minimum of eight games.
Looks like the Browns will turn back to Josh McCown. If there's any upside, TE Gary Barnidge seemed to flourish last year with McCown.

SEA - QB Russell Wilson should play
Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta
Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (ankle) should be able to play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll said Wilson did have some swelling in his sprained ankle but that he would make it through. There was no structural damage revealed in Wilson's X-rays.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wilson showed great toughness and grit playing through this ankle injury. He didn't look the same after the injury, but Wilson did enough to help his team win. We'll see if he can shake this thing off quickly and go back to looking like his normal self in Week 2 against the Rams.

BUF - No plan to shut WR Sammy Watkins down
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Updating an earlier report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) will have to continue to play through pain, but the team has no plans to shut him down.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
They may not have any plans to shut him down right now, but that could change if the pain becomes too much for the young receiver. The Bills have a short week as they play against the Jets on Thursday night, so Watkins may not be available for that game. If he does play, the pain could severely limit what he does on the football field.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins ailing
Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta
Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) had X-rays on his surgically repaired foot Sunday, Sept. 11, which were negative, but he played with severe discomfort in the foot. The question now is whether Watkins can manage the pain, and it's possible he could be shut down several weeks depending on how the foot responds.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Watkins certainly didn't look like himself in Week 1 against the Ravens. This is a fluid situation that could go in many different directions -- including Watkins missing several weeks. We'll bring you the latest when we know more.

JAX - RB Chris Ivory remains hospitalized
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (calf, illness) remains in the hospital and is undergoing tests to discover the source of the pain that led to his admission Saturday, Sept. 10.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
His status for Week 2 is most certainly in question with this illness. If the team plays without Ivory again, then T.J. Yeldon would get a bellcow workload on the road against the Chargers.

SD - DE Joey Bosa activated
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
San Diego Chargers DE Joey Bosa (hamstring) was activated to the active roster Monday, Sept. 12.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Getting Bosa on the field should boost a Chargers defense that needs all the help it can get. We should see him eased into the lineup after a lengthy holdout and this hamstring problem.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas to practice Wednesday
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) is 'feeling better' and expected to return to practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Thomas should be limited in practice this week as he deals with this hip injury. The Broncos have the Colts at home on Sunday, and Thomas should be able to take advantage of a weak Colts D. If he plays, consider Thomas a WR2 with upside in Week 2.

NO - RB C.J. Spiller a healthy scratch in Week 1
Source: AP
New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller was a healthy scratch in Week 1, according to head coach Sean Payton, who also stated RB Travaris Cadet was going to have a bigger role on offense and rookie Daniel Lasco was going to contribute more on special teams.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
So much for a fully healthy Spiller doing anything for the Saints. He's safe to drop for those who took him as a 'lottery ticket' pick.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls in line for more work
Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Liz Mathews
Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls is 'ready to increase his workload', according to head coach Pete Carroll.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ready to increase his workload doesn't automatically mean 'stick him in your fantasy lineup' for fantasy owners. Rawls may get a little more work, but Christine Michael is still going to get a large portion as well. This RBBC is something to be left alone if possible until one of these players emerge.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz dealing with rib injury
Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is considered week-to-week with a rib displacement and his status for Week 2 is in question, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ertz had a nice start to the 2016 season with six catches for 58 yards against the Browns. The Eagles don't play until Monday night in Week 2 (at the Bears), so he'll get a little extra rest to help with this injury. Have another TE at the ready if you had Ertz as your top guy.

SD - San Diego offense headed for another dip?
Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams
San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) will likely need to be replaced by committee in the opinion of QB Philip Rivers after the wideout reportedly tore the ACL in his right knee in a Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, the Chargers averaged 24 points with Allen in the lineup before a lacerated kidney that ended his year. After his exit, San Diego averaged 16 points the rest of the season.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Without Allen, the team could turn to a couple of different options. Tyrell Williams is a player fantasy owners should consider. Dontrelle Inman may be in line for more targets as well. We should see an increase in targets for Travis Benjamin, Danny Woodhead and Antonio Gates now that the Chargers have a huge hole in their passing game.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott staying as starter?
Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport
Prior to the first game of the season, suggestions were made that Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott could unseat QB Tony Romo (back) as the starter if Prescott played well enough. Sources indicate Romo's job could be up for grabs, much the same way New England Patriots QB Tom Brady took it from QB Drew Bledsoe in 2001.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
After one game, it's a bit too early to make that prediction but we do realize that it's a possibility. Prescott looks good out there, but as there's more film on him we expect defenses to play him tougher. Against the Giants in Week 1, Prescott had 227 passing yards on 25-of-45 attempts.

CAR - NFLPA checks into QB Cam Newton's treatment
Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora
The NFL Players Association will ask for a formal investigation into the helmet-to-helmet hit Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton took against the Denver Broncos Thursday, Sept. 8, and the medical treatment he received afterwards.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Newton was beat up on Thursday night in the season opener against the Broncos. He took several bit shots yet was never examined for a concussion during the game. After the game, Newton received some extra attention but the extent is unknown. Newton is big, tough and physical but he should be treated no differently than other QBs just because he can a lot of punishment. There should be no "hack-a-Shaq" in the NFL.

MIN - Minnesota QB undecided for Week 2
Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Mark Craig
Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill started and was able to pick up the win in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans. However, head coach Mike Zimmer said coaches will huddle before deciding whether Hill or QB Sam Bradford will start in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We'd be shocked if Bradford isn't named the starter for the Vikings in Week 2. The team debuts their new stadium on Sunday Night Football against the Packers.

BAL - RB Justin Forsett splits the load
Source: NFL.com
Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett carried 10 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, and he added three receptions for 15 yards. He split the rushing load with RB Terrance West, who had 12 runs for 32 yards and two grabs for six yards.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The RBBC is a two-headed monster at this time and neither RB is that exciting for fantasy owners. Things will get even more complicated when rookie Kenneth Dixon returns from his MCL injury in a few weeks.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman mostly bottled up
Source: NFL.com
Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for just 20 yards in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he added four receptions for 20 yards.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Tevin Coleman is cutting into Freeman's workload in a big way. This is a problem for fantasy owners expecting RB1 production from last year's breakout RB. The 'hot hand' approach at RB puts Freeman more as a low-end RB2 (at best) going forward.
