    NFL Coaches are lost

These Nfl coaches don't seem to know what they are doing.
Case in point charger coach Mike Riley.
At one point in the game Chargers were down 14-6
scored a touchdown, and they didn't go for 2. You always go for 2 there.
You play to win. So the Chargers went for 1 and were down 17-13.
They ended up going for 2 later in the game, and messed that up. Which was the difference in why they didn't cover the 3.5 losing by 5.
And the Chargers always run on first down. Then they pick up 3-4 yards.
But they never pass on first down, and they put themselves into to many third and short situations. All the Bengals did was blitz every passing down, and the chargers couldn't run an effective screen play. Nor did they seem to know how to use the shotgun effectively.
Then they used 2 timeouts early in the second half, so they only had one left for the last minute comeback.
they pick up a pretty good running back, then take the guy out of the game on third down to put in a utility player, so their rb can't get enough touches.
And the rb is always running on first down. So the running back is usuually running into a defense geared to stop the run. There runs are just a preluse to the inevitable 3rd and 4 situation. Chargers try to score by making 7 first downs every possession. Making it too hard.
The chargers offense has no creativity and they don't go down the field enough. Chargers only have like 8 possessions in the whole game.
Then they got robbed by the refs on a defensive touchdown, or the refs managed to find a holding in the secondary when the bengals needed it.
But the Chargers coach doesn't have a game plan to counter the obstacles on the field. And they have the wrong guy returning punts.
The only improvement this year for the chargers is on special teams.
it would suck to be a player on that team knowing you can't win because the coaches don't know what they are doing.
Bellichick is the only coach that seems to know what he's doing. Mike McCarthy looks like a good coach because they have a great qb.
The seahawks and giants coaching staff are completely lost.
the seahawks were putting wilson in the shotgun because he can't see over center. what they need to do is have Wilson run more.
Pitsburgh coaches seem to know what they are doing a bit.
Most coaches are really bad at in game strategy, when to go for 2
when to go for it on 4th down.
The pats were up 21-7 at midfield fourth and one, and i was thinking punt all day. And they went for it failed, and the Bills scored a TD. They should have put the Bills in the hole and made their offense go 90 yards down 14. Play football. No reason to go for it there.
Just real bad in game coaching and decision making which is changing the outcomes of games. Interested in any insights.

It seems to be getting worse year after year as well. Very very thin at the head coach area these days.

coaches are clueless way more than they used to be. however, nothing you said about the chargers was right. it wasn't even close to be going for 2 on that TD. tons of time left. and mike riley coaches Nebraska, not the chargers. of all the screw ups sunday you complained about 2 things that were coached right. plus you don't even know who the coach is. don't give up your day job.

Yeah the coach is doing such a mediocre job that I can't remember his name
And you are wrong you go for two to tie the game, play to win
Maybe the chargers should hire Mike Riley, lol
