Ahh glorified scrimmages strike again. They are indeed necessary for coaches , all players young old. But true tragedy for fans and teams when important player goes down like this. Such is life and such is the gm though show must go on! Get well Jordy

Pack will be fine, WR is easily replaced when you have A Rodgers throwing

Very tough loss for the Packers. Davante Adams stock goes way up this season, very high upside.

Not even close to the same thing. You are comparing someone that has already proven to be one of the best receivers in the NFL with a rookie that has yet to step on an NFL field.

I blame the Packers organization. Why was Nelson even out there after off-season hip surgery? He's been in the same offense with Rodgers for 7 years, not like he needs to develop chemistry with Rodgers or gain game experience. If anything, he's stealing valuable Rodgers-reps from younger guys like Adams or Janis. Gotta give credit to teams like Minnesota, keeping AP on ice in the preseason. I love the preseason because it gives me a chance to to see the marginal players in action, but the established vets that have been in the NFL 5+ years should be able to opt out of this rookie summer league.

This is why the Vikings haven't let AP play a single down in preseason since 2010....

Drought? They won the Super Bowl back in 2011. If you want to talk about a drought, how about the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars? Those 4 teams have never made it to a Super Bowl.

Totally agree Slacker. WTF were the coaches and trainers the thinking
Same thing happened to Gibson with NE - a 6 year vet.
At this time of pre season I'm more interested in seeing those drafted play.
Impressed with Winston................so far - now suffering an ankle injury.
Let the rookies play it out. Screw the ticket sales.

Gibson is journeyman fighting for a roster spot on a deep NE team. He had to play. Totally different case.

AP is a different animal. Just like the Chargers used to handle LT. Minimize the hits running backs take. It was a point of emphasis in training camp this year to get off to a fast start after starting the past 3 seasons at 1-2. Nelson got hurt in a non contact incident on the 6th or 7th play of the game. No reason to play some meaningless blame game.

That could have just as easily been a practice injury. He probably only has a partial tear, especially since MCL and meniscal injuries weren't reported. Still, it's too much of a risk to send him out there with a brace, and he would be less effective/tentative.

How does this affect the Packers win total? It was 11 (-110) and now I just saw Westgate moved it to 11o +130, 11u -150

Surprised they didn't move it a half game. Interesting.

WR going down with elite QB doesnt affect a team that much

Replacement WR numbers likely 70% of what Nelson can produce

Nelson a product of Rodgers, guy is an average WR without him

Tom Brady/Peyton Manning effect, can turn scrubs into top players, Pack wont miss a beat
