Curious about Betting Limits (Vegas and Online)

Hi, I’m new to the forum. I’m trying to gauge the best way to bet on college and pro football. I’ve been recreationally playing college and pro games for a few years with online accounts, local bookies, and the occasional trip to vegas. I’ve never laid more than $220 on a game to date, but I’ve gotten increasingly sophisticated with my modeling and I’m ready to do this for real. I intend to play football lines almost exclusively – and to try to make a living doing it. I know how daunting this will be, so I am approaching the task with eyes wide open.

If I were to go to Vegas every weekend, what kind of action could I consistently get in the best casino sportsbooks? I’m not only talking about big games, but any game. Could I bet $5k on football spreads? I'm not talking about one time – I’m talking about every weekend.

I currently live in California. Is there a way that I can call in bets to vegas? What if I set up an LLC in Vegas and had a local phone number there?

I expect the overwhelming suggestion to be that I need to get some online accounts, but I’m nervous about the amount of money that I would be depositing and the riskiness of the deposit/withdraw transactions. What kind of limits do the best online books offer over the long term (let's assume/hope i'm a winner)?

Yes, I intend to pay taxes.

    Thanks for the help!

hmmm... well first of all good luck. I think it's every man's dream to make a living off of sports betting. Out of curiousity how can you afford to go $200 to betting 5K a game now? You been winning a lot?

    thats quite a jump...

ain't no narcs here so we don't give a damn if you pay taxes or not. Most of us never win so paying taxes has never been a consideration. I guess if you win big then they automatically take taxes out for you right?

But no you can't call in bets from LA to Vegas....

if you are betting 5K though i would make the drive from Southern Cal to Vegas to get your bets in.. you could smoke a phat blunt on the way to make the trip go by faster.

or if you live in Northern Cal maybe South Lake Tahoe?

we had a poster here you may have heard of him LACLIPPERS504 goes by the alias Brent Douglas and he is running for president supposedly....

well he lives in LA and he drives to Vegas weekly to place bets.

I don't know if you trust a runner with 5K... they might take it and flee to Mexico.

It's great that you want to make a profession of it but the odds are against you. I have been betting over 30 plus years and there is no trend or system that Vegas doesn't know about. One week the system works. The next week, it doesn't. Vegas is constantly changing.

My advice is do more demos for another year. And if you really do come out on top then move to Vegas or Reno. William-Hillis offers online but you have to be a Nevada resident. I have seen Circus Circus in Reno take on a 25k single game bet.

Post your plays here and keep track.
