MGM installs Colts as 5-1 Super Bowl favorites

    Seattle/GB 11-2

    Pats 6-1

A wild NFL free-agency period that has seen several big-name stars change teams drew mixed reaction from Las Vegas sportsbooks.
The Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles saw their odds improve at multiple books, while the defending champion New England Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints took steps back.
Current Odds To Win Super Bowl

    • Indianapolis Colts 5-1
    • Seattle Seahawks 11-2
    • Green Bay Packers 11-2
    • New England Patriots 6-1
    • Dallas Cowboys 8-1

    -- Courtesy of MGM sportsbook

The Colts, who added veterans Frank Gore andAndre Johnson, moved into the role of Super Bowl favorites at the MGM sportsbook. Indianapolis is 5-1 at the MGM, followed by the Seattle Seahawks andGreen Bay Packers at 11-2, and the Patriots at 6-1.
New England lost both its starting corners, withDarrelle Revis going to the New York Jets andBrandon Browner going to the Saints, but remained in the top tier of favorites. The Seahawks and Patriots, at 6-1, remain co-Super Bowl favorites at the Westgate SuperBook. The Seahawks and Packers, at 6-1, are co-favorites at William Hill.
Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology, one of the only shops to have already posted NFL season win totals, adjusted the Colts' projected win total from 9.5 to 10. The book cut the 49ers' projected wins from 8.5 to 8. San Francisco, in addition to losing Gore and coach Jim Harbaugh, also had star linebacker Patrick Willis retire unexpectedly. The 49ers were listed at 25-1 to win the Super Bowl at the SuperBook and MGM.
The Eagles continued their offseason overhaul Thursday by landing last season's leading rusher, DeMarco Murray, away from the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia traded away running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Nick Foles in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso and quarterback Sam Bradford, respectively. After initially holding steady on the Eagles, the Westgate SuperBook moved the Eagles from 20-1 to 16-1 to win the Super Bowl on Thursday following the Murray news.
The Saints, who traded away tight end Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks, dropped from 25-1 to 30-1 to win the Super Bowl at the SuperBook.
The books weren't swayed by the New York Jets' moves. Despite the additions of Revis and fellow cornerback Antonio Cromartie, receiver Brandon Marshall, and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Jets' Super Bowl odds didn't budge. The MGM kept them at 75-1, and the SuperBook held steady at 40-1.
William Hill elected not make any adjustments to its Super Bowl odds during this week's player movement. More money has been bet on the Packers to win the Super Bowl at William Hill, followed by the Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens, Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

MGM is a horrible sportsbook to place a futures bet at.

My guess is they are atleast 15 to 1 at Westgate.

Saints are going through salary cap hell right now, basically giving their players away at this point.

Do I even have to say who got it right here?

Futures wagering are licenses to print money for sportsbooks. Mathematically, the Colts are probably 20-1 to win it all, and that's being generous. The people at the books decide "what's the most awful price somebody will give us for a 20-1 futures bet with the Colts?", and they set it. If people don't like it, it drops a little. If it doesn't, some people will actually bet it at 5-1, and the books immediately POCKET that remaining 15-1 in equity.

When the Rams won the Superbowl in 2000, the futures odds at the beginning of the season were around 70-1. Retards everywhere were saying how the books much of taken a bath on that one. No, they paid out about $40k to the ten people that bet on the Rams, and pocketed the rest of the millions bet on the other 31 teams.

And just like parlays, they WANT you to hit one every now and then to make you think that you're smart, and not way down overall from betting them. When the truth is.....

Money down the toilet. Such a square bet.

Sharps will be on Green Bay. Packers should have won this year.

No such thing as a sharp futures bet. They're all -EV.

Team wins over/under is way different, but "odds to in it all" (what most people refer to as "futures") are sucker bets 100% of the time.

Seriously, I want to start a book that just does futures bets. We'll beat the price of every book out there, and it won't make one bit of difference, we'll be swimming in money.

2015 Colts remind me of 2011 Eagles "Dream Team". Buyer beware on these free agent clusterfuks.

People are maybe banking on a Colts playoff run getting past broken down Peyton and toothless Bengals.
