Jets are making strong moves towards locking down another 8-8 type season.

Pretty soon he'll be the only player in the NFL to have ever played for every team.

Yeah, had to look it up. This is his 6th team. He's had starts at every stop, probably some kind of record already.

You're forgetting the Jets history at QB the past 5 years - easily worst production at the league from that position, maybe Jags/Raiders in the mix. So Fitzpatrick (best available FA), plus a draft pick is all they can do. Geno is hot garbage.

The ongoing standoff between Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon.

According to ESPN.com, Fitzpatrick would "rather not play football" than accept the offer that the Jets have given him.

It's easy to see why Fitzpatrick's upset. Depsite the fact that he led the Jets to a 10-6 record last season, the team is only offering him about $8 million a season on a new deal. Based on where the quarterback market went during free agency this year, that offer is kind of an insult.

The Jets are asking Fitzpatrick to play for under $10 million a year when unproven guys like Brock Osweiler and Sam Bradford both received contracts worth $18 million annually.

Fitzpatrick is reportedly seeking a deal that would pay him at least $16 million a year, an amount of money that the Jets don't want to commit to the 33-year-old journeyman.

Just sign Brain Hoyer, He's 30 and Fitzpatrick is 34. If you check their stats for the past 3 yrs. you will see they are almost identical. The Jets can go 8-8 with Hoyer or Fizpatrick. Fitzpatrick is not worth it.

Pay the man $16 million. Or put Geno Smith in and finish 3-13.

not a great offer, but i doubt he can get much higher.
his agent should be able to bump this and stay a Jet.

Fitzpatrick had a career year and the Jets still did not make the playoffs. In fact, Fitz played like shit in the finale against the Bills and costed the Jets a playoff spot. Just because some other stupid teams paid worthless QB's 18M doesn't mean they should. I'd rather see Geno back in there rather than pay Fitz anything over 10M.

i know you dont mean that.. fitzpatrick is what they need RIGHT NOW.. if geno started, the jets will do no better than 6-10.

You are probably right about only winning 6 games with Geno, but with Fitz, they are probably 8-8 this year with the brutal schedule. If they pay Fitz 15M, that means another solid defender will have to go. If they had a real shot this year, then you have to pay Fitz. But no need to since no real shot.
