Not shocking, he was #1 on their list and the #1 position of need for them. I think it's a pretty solid signing assuming they get more help at DB ... they still need safety help and a couple other corners. Guessing at least one more corner in free agency.

Frank Gore also will be an Eagle soon. Definitely the North-South runner Chip says he wants, but doesn't seem like the greatest fit IMO.

One piece at a time Bear! Don't know if they'll be able to swing the deal for Mariotta but it's obvious that's the direction Chip is leaning. If they can add McCourty and/or Worilds to that defense then they are well on their way to building a winner. Stay tuned!

Eagles should sign Andre Johnson, Greg Hardy, and draft Devin Smith.

Maybe they could sign Terrelle Pryor to compete with Foles.

Maclin going to the Chiefs. This one hurts, but he's also going to be overpaid so I get it, but F the NFL is a crazy business. Chip is gonna live or die as a NFL coach based on what he turns this team into for next season.

Good WRs aren't .. Maclin is a good WR, but he's also not a #1 and not worth Randall Cobb money which is what he's going to get, probably more.

I do wonder though how much Chip's moves with some of the releases and the trade effect the thinking of a guy like Maclin. Can't imagine it helped.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, but he might as a well be a rookie HC again this season because he's going to have to acclimate a lot of guys into this system.

Two play makers gone for a guy on his last legs. Chip the genius. U win in this league with playmakers not offensive schemes.

They threw too much money at him. Brandon Flowers and Kareem Jackson are better corners and got payed less. And lets not forget. Yeah, he was pretty great last year. But lets not forget that he played in Hawks defense, which is loaded with talent in every position and he was not no.1 corner and rarely went against no.1 receivers on opposing team...

my bad then. Didn't watch all Seattle games last season. And to be honest, wasn't paying attention who is covering which receiver, at the time. But I still think he got overpaid and will have work cut out for him in that Eagles defense.

IMO he is as good as Richard Sherman.

Sherman gets a lot of media attention mostly bc he is loud and obnoxious but Byron Maxwell is every bit as good.

Seahawks need to use their 1st round pick on a corner.

Exactly. Oh well, I guess they'll have to settle with Cooper and Ertz at TE, unless they find a solid WR. Foles with McCoy and DeSean Jackson, was a blessing for the Eagles. With this offense, they can say a loud goodbye to the Playoffs.
I wouldn't be surprised, if the Eagles make a push for Mariota, an unproven NFL material, and trade Foles somewhere else...

    Shark,

its a young mans league. Eagles just got one of the premier shutdown corners in the game in a pass happy league.

Maxwell can totally shut down Dez Bryant when they play the Cowboys.

If the Eagles sign Greg Hardy which i wouldnt be surprised if they do since they are not afraid to spend money and not afraid to sign players with a lack of character i think they could have a pretty damn good defense.

Devin Smith is available in the draft and he is essentially a taller and more sure handed version of Desean Jackson.

Smith is 6 foot 1 runs a 4.2 and catches everything. Eagles would be smart to draft him.

Byron Maxwell played zone coverage most of the time and that scheme suits Seattle. That's why, they were getting such great results on defense. However, I have a certain amount of doubt, how Byron Maxwell will show up on man-to-man coverage. Sherman got smoked by Jackson and Bryant last season and if the same thing happens to Maxwell on the Eagles team...well...that will suck for the Eagles. If proven otherwise, he's going to be recognized as a really great addition.
As for Devin Smith: he's still an unproven NFL material, just like everybody else, who applied to the Draft. College Football is a second-grade competition and if some player will make a successful transition to NFL, only time will tell. Nobody can guarantee, that Smith, Cooper, Green-Beckham etc. will make a successful transition to NFL. And that goes for Mariota and Winston as well. I'm writing this, because there's just too much hype over players in the Draft and it's getting old pretty fast.

Maxwell is not a shutdown corner. He's an upgrade, but not a savior. Overpaid likely, but sometimes you have to overpay when you've got a bare cupboard.

Eagles just announcing Brandon Graham re-signing. Racist bastards.

Maxwell did not play zone. He is a press-man corner as is Sherman. At times some off man, but the corners in Seattle do not play zone. There are zone concepts but the outside corners play man. So get rid of that idea.

Eagles play man coverage with a single high safety, same thing maxwell did in Seattle, he said himself the scheme fit was perfect here and it'll allow him to do what he did in Seattle.

Bryant had 4 catches for 63 yards last season in Seattle. Hardly call that smoked.

Maxwell mainly guarded Williams in the game where Dallas whipped that Seahawk ass.

Williams was only targeted twice all game. He had 2 catches for 70 yards, including a 47 yard bomb!

He lit that bitch up like a Christmas tree!

    Nope.

Kelly insists on Coop being the #1. It's all part of his racist grand plan.

But looks like Gore has had a change of heart.

Apparently he thought..."hmmm....play with Andrew Luck....or someone who might replace Mark Sanchez."

No, he's not. I put him on ignore a few weeks ago and judging by these posts I made a wise choice.
