Baltimore's ROI this year has been one for the ages

Other than the 2012 A's, I can't find anything close to this. The RL % and $ is through the roof. Amazing that the books can't figure them out, all the way down to them being a +157 dog at close last night.

    Major League Baseball Money Statistics

Team Record Pct. Money Home Home $ Road Road $ RL RL $ O-U
    1 Baltimore 94-63 0.599 3552 50-31 1434 44-32 2118 91-66 2978 67-86
    2 LA Angels 97-61 0.614 2273 52-29 1217 45-32 1056 83-75 1243 78-75
    3 Washington 92-64 0.590 945 47-28 473 45-36 472 75-81 243 75-68
    4 Pittsburgh 86-71 0.548 757 51-30 1292 35-41 -535 84-73 1426 71-77
    5 San Francisco 85-72 0.541 711 42-35 -188 43-37 899 80-77 1209 73-74

Best RL ROI since '07 Colorado.

Other than '12 Oakland and '12 Baltimore -- ironically enough -- you have to go back to Seattle '01 to find a bigger money maker.

The difference: this team didn't exactly come from out of nowhere.

Makes it that much more amazing.

Agree, but if you think about it, they have a bunch of fluky overachievers -- especially on their staff -- that really shouldn't be winning as much as they are. I don't blame the books for not believing they can win without so many injured regulars. I have a feeling their stay in the playoffs will be a short one.

Did you see what they just did in a span of about 30 seconds with two outs in the fourth?

K Johnson walked, N Cruz to third, S Clevenger to second. 0 3
R Flaherty doubled to deep right, N Cruz and S Clevenger scored, K Johnson to third. 2 3
    C Joseph struck out swinging. 2 3
N Markakis singled to right, K Johnson and R Flaherty scored. 4 3
D Lough tripled to deep right, N Markakis scored. 5 3
A Jones reached on bunt single to third, D Lough scored. 6 3
    D Huff relieved S Greene. 6 3

    Unreal.

Put the first two runners on, bang, double play.

This team is like the Oakland A's of the East. Other shoe is going to drop soon.

Don't look past the fact that they have a phenomenal pitching coach. A guy who preaches fastball command as well as assisting pitchers with adding a change up to their arsenal. Bud Norris was a mediocre pitcher in the NL (when Astros were playing in the NL); he is now an above average pitcher in the AL due to the fact that he is featuring his change up much more than he used to - especially against lefties.

How are they at +120 tomorrow. You have to think with Showalter's disdain for the Yankees, he will put forth tons of effort to win in Jeter's home finale.

The game is meaningless for the Orioles plus the weather is supposed to be bad. He's gonna sit out his regulars.

If weather is bad, I would concur. Still in the running for home field in AL, but extremely slim chance. If they win out and Seattle takes 1 of 3 vs Angels, they have it. But I would agree, that is extremely slim. Buck gave many of his starters significant rest since the AL East title was clinched.

yeah, I have the games tracked through Sept 22, haven't updated the last couple of games yet, but so far to date in my spreadsheet their ROI on the year has been +19.3%, based on the closing line at Pinny, betting to win 1 unit as a fave, or risking 1 unit as a dog.

    second-best is Angels at +9.8%

also baltimore is #1 in the ROI standings in MLB both on the road and at home, which is also kind of unique

20 minutes after you made this thread you wagered against the Orioles and lost though, how ironic.

you still had a decent day from what I saw but it could have been better if you hadn't been "counting on that other shoe to drop"

was this a reverse jinx thread?

i am just confused why you bet against Baltimore after making a case as to how to profitable it is to bet on Baltimore. Trust your gut thats all.

If Tillman is the game 1 starter i may have to fade the Orioles in game 1 of the ALDS too.

If its Chen no way can i go against the Orioles, he is nasty. Great command of the zone.
