This is why Clayton Kershaw should be NL MVP

Kershaw's LA Dodgers are 18 and 1 since June 1 when Kershaw makes a start.
All other Dodger starters are 1 game over .500

Don't give me starters can't win MVP awards.
The operative word in MVP is 'valuable'

Dodgers own a three game lead in the division, Kershaw is the reason for that.
Which player, pitcher or otherwise is more valuable to their team then Kershaw is to LA?

p.s. there is a reason virtually every book, online or brick and mortar why they took down NL Cy Young Award props.

He'd have had the best season by anyone in recent memory. Arguably better than one of those crazy good Pedro years from like 1999.

True, but Fiers wasn't head hunting like Colon was.

How much your teammate pitchers suck should not be a factor in MVP voting.

It is quite possible the managers of opposing teams are resting some of their good players when facing Kershaw so they can have them fresh when facing the other mediocre Dodger pitchers and get a win.

Kershaw's season is reminding me of a pitcher when I was a kid. Ron Guidry (Louisiana Lightning) ---was like 25-3 with a sub 2.00 ERA. Guy was unstoppable. Kershaw MVP for NL, Trout for AL. If Detroit had a better record, I'd give Victor Martinez the MVP

There is no doubt Kershaw deserves it. Part of it is how good he has been, and how no one in the NL has really had a MVP caliber year.

Earlier this year I thought both Felix and Kershaw could win it, but Felix has tailed off a bit near the end of the year.

I am verging on saying that he should be the MVP, even though I HATE it. The only other time I would have voted for a pitcher was in 1997 when Randy Johnson went 20-4 and his team won the west by 6 games at 18 games over .500.

I am finally convinced.....but Verlander should not have won it in the AL....that still pisses me off.

So you start a thread asking for opinions and only read the ones people pad you on the back and ignore others. Why do you even start the thread?

I agree about Bob Gibson due to his 1.12 ERA, but Ron Guidry's 1978 season is right up there.

    1) No managers sit regulars against Kershaw, now, some will use a righty/lefty platoon, but no regulars.
    2) Most of your posts are non-sensical drivel, I said most, sometimes you post a few gems.
    3) I really don't need my e-back patted, not padded.
    4) The key stat I brought up was LA is 18-1 since June 1 when he starts, I was putting everything else in perspective by saying all other Dodger starters are 1 over .500
    5) All the other Dodger starters do not suck, their rotation is solid.

You want to see a season?
Dude made 8 starts alone in September and every one of them went the distance.
Look at all the CG's. Remember, this was a 100 loss team (well 97 to be exact)

Lefty had 2 complete 11 inning starts that year.
    Who does that?
