Trust me man, women are already scared. It's not just an American problem, but it's definitely a problem here just like it is everywhere else. When women are in situations where they are alone, they're always scared and taking precautions, just throughout the course of a normal day. I think ultimately it's because the punishment and the stigma for this kind of abuse of women is not strong enough. This 2 game punishment is just another example. But I know that there will be a point in our future where someone will see this ray rice tape and say "well obviously he never had the privilege of playing professional sports anymore" because that's where we'll be as a nation. I feel we're far from it right now though
Yeah well the nfl has just lost another viewer and from what im reading on social media I think the nfl has severely under evaluated the level of backlash its copping here.

In total agreement with the OP, this is complete bullsh-t. There's not much you can do worse than beating a fellow human being, particularly one who is clearly helpless to defend herself against you. He should get a full season with lots of forced counseling and community service. Get him out of the picture for a full year. The money is a drop in the bucket for these guys, so that part is meaningless.

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has struck a deal with prosecutors that could keep him out of jail for allegedly KOing his then-fiance in an Atlantic City casino ... but there's one big catch.
Rice was accepted into a pretrial intervention program on Tuesday -- a program that allows defendants to avoid prosecution pending the completion of a specific set of rehabilitative conditions.
Officials wouldn't give any specific details on Rice's program -- only saying that it will last one year ... and he MUST stay out of trouble during the course of the PTI.
If he can satisfy those requirements, prosecutors will drop the 3rd degree aggravated assault charge.
Rice's attorney told ESPN, "We're very happy with the result. We're glad that the court and the prosecutor's office agreed PTI was the appropriate disposition for the case."
this mofo should be banned for a few years from football....also, a year in jail with heavy domestic abuse counseling would be an appropriate punishment for this crime...
2 games suspension and completely avoiding prosecution all together is a complete joke and a failure of the judicial system imo

Still, what did she do? I still believe nobody's above being smacked. Lot of self righteous people on radio talking about this the old never hit a woman and I agree, to an extent. There are alot of unequal fights amongst men also, in size and ability, no one would dare come down on that though. Women can use that old adage to their advantage, there is no telling what she did to get clocked, probably deserved it.

They were both drunk, alcohol could have been some of the reason she was out, but I heard radio host say the same thing, never put your hands on a woman unless she has a gun or knife, lol damn, its way to late for hands then, you need a gun or a knife in those situations. You must be pretty young, I used to have the same mindset as you, but once you experience life your mind gets wiser.
True story, when I was around 11 or 12, one day on the bus after school some girl starting picking on me, then decided she would just start hitting me, kids egging her on, she continues even hard on the head each time and just walloping me, the whole time I sat there with "well she has to stop sometime and never hit a female" mindset, knowing the whole time I could have and should have beat the ish out of her.
Alone from that, Ray's probably spent a few million on her during course of relationship, what if while at the casino she said some really crazy stuff, which was probably the case and who knows she probably hit him first and more than once.
