    Yeah it's pretty obvious it was a fck up. The 25 second rule is for resetting the play clock so it doesn't apply here at all. They didn't get the 40 seconds, pretty simple.

    the play clock starts as soon as the play is over. the game clock starts on the ready for play (out of bounds play). 5 second difference in this case.

    Sorry, meant the game clock. I get what you're saying but I don't feel like the game clock ever stopped when he went out of bounds. Would be nice to see if that is the case.

    you can see in the video that it did stop. you can only see 2 seconds of the stoppage though.

    Makes sense then, still they look at the clock to see if it hits zero then the QB to see if he snapped it. So usually it's not a delay right at 0 but they seemed to jump the gun on it. Either way, makes more sense now.
