    big nfl plays

    Houston Texans -3.5

The Texans travel to Buffalo to play a Bills team that has won two games in a row on the road but has been grossly outplayed in both games…The Jets piled up a whopping 318 yards on the ground against the Bills in week 6 but lost because they abandoned their running game for whatever reason late in the game and put the ball into the hands of rookie Mark Sanchez who threw 5 INTS in the game and was playing his first game in the NFL in inclement weather…Rex Ryan and the Jets coaching staff outcoached themselves in that one…then last week the Panthers were running the ball successfully against the Bills (DeAngelo Williams had 16 carries for 89 yards, or 5.5 a pop) but Head Coach John Fox outfoxed himself by putting the ball into the hands of Jake Delhomme (a turnover machine) which led to 3 interceptions for the Panthers…Delhomme did throw for 325 yards, but had receivers open all over the field in the game, but failed to convert…Panthers kicker John Kasey also missed two field goals in the game…All in all…I’m going out on a limb and going to say that the Bills have been Very Lucky the last two weeks…this week the Bills come home to a home crowd that wants Head Coach Dick Jauron fired (he actually has a 3% approval rating in a poll conducted by a local station in town) to play a Houston team that has actually played better on the road this season going 2-1 up to this point including a 28-17 win over what seems to be a pretty good Bengals team in Cincinnati…QB Matt Schaub leads the entire league in passing yardage (2,074) and has thrown 16 TD’s to just 5 INTS…the Texans running game ranks just 30th in the entire league, but they have faced 4 of the Top 9 rushing defenses in the league this season…so I expect those stats will improve this week as they face a Bills team that can’t stop the run and ranks dead last in the league (#32) giving up 174 yards per game…Steve Slaton should have a field day on Sunday…Last but not least…the Texans have one major injury with WR Andre Johnson leaving last weeks game with a chest contusion…he could be a game time decision, but chances are he will be a go on Sunday…on the flip side the Bills defense is still crippled by injuries as both starting safeties Donte Whitner and Byron Scott missed the Panthers game and may be sidelined again this week…LB’s Kawika Mitchell, Marcus Buggs, and CB/RS Leodis McKelvin are all OUT and one of the Bills most underrated players DT Kyle Williams suffered a knee injury against the Panthers and is Very Doubtful at this time…also…The Bills young offensive line is banged up and backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will make his second start in a row for a Bills…Trends - The Texans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. AFC, and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall…The Bills are 3-9 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a winning road record, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as a home underdog of 3.5-10.0, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win, 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games in November, 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games and just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a home underdog.
