    Alex Smith has carved that mediocre denver D up today. If his receivers haven't dropped about 7 passes he'd be doing even better.

    Because I think he's wildly overrated. I've never said he's not one of the best quarterbacks in the league. But I just know what my eyes tell me: he has a candy arm - the vast majority of his throws are screens and short passes within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. So he gets all that credit for all the YAC his receivers get for making great plays. I don't feel like getting into the whole choking argument. Been there done that too many times.

    I guess to me, if he's overrated, there needs to be a basis for comparison. I just don't see enough guys to "rate" ahead of him, as much as I'd like to because I do think he's more hype than substance. But let's call a spade a spade here and give credit where credit is due.
