    Buying points good or bad?

If you subscribe to a handicapper that suggests you buy off of anything but 3 in the NFL @ -125 odds, RUN! There is negative expectations on any other number, and if you have an edge at all, your losing some of it for following those instructions. It may go your way for a season, for a period of time, but in the long run it will cost you part of any edge you have. WHY DO HNDICAPPERS TELL YOU TO BUY POINTS? Because if they get lucky enough to have it go your way, or more importantly their way...they can boast a higher winning percentage and dupe more bettors! Their disadvantage in telling you to buy? NONE! This is a marketer handicapper that has absolutely no knowledge of basic handicapping expected outcomes, PERIOD! All he wants to do is give himself a chance to steal a win and does so taking negative expectations! The penalty for doing so? ZERO. If your an informed client, take him to task on it. Ask him why he wants you to buy from any number he prescribes you to do so. THERE IS NO VALID REASON! Oh, wait there is one...for his own potential benefit, because he has no penalty. Stay informed!

if you think you may need more points, it's probably better to lay off the bet than it is to buy the points

Also, are teasers bad bets then too since you are "buying" points? Unless of course crossing key numbers

Buying on/off the 3 is worth it at 25 cents. Buying on/off the 7 at 15 cents is a push. Don't see why you wouldn't do this.
