I'm convinced Geno Smith will be the biggest second round bust in NFL history

Another Jets easy to root against. Whiny WVU diva
Arrogant as all hell on draft day, disgusted he went second round, disgusted that he wasn't overall #1, and has a creaky ankle. Didn't he say he was 'entitled' to go first round?
Yeah, that goes over big time in the league that plays for pay.

Reed called his performance the other day brutal, what'd he throw 27 picks or something?

For all his dinks and dunks and slants throws, EJ Samuel will have more success up there in that other New York city

Seems like most of the brain dead players that go busto in the NFL are almost all quarterbacks. Probably because at the pro level, it truly becomes a thinking man's game at that position. You have to be as sharp mentally as you are physically. That's why dolts like JaMarcus, Leaf, Vince Young, etc. couldn't cut it, and that's why this fool won't either.

Boomer Esian (who I really love that much either) once said it best.
"When you are at the college level, and get drafted high, you were probably the best player on the field that Sunday, you know who's just as good as you or better on Sundays?, Every other player on that field."

I was reading up on Samuel, Bills aren't rushing him, baby steps, they haven't aired him out yet.
    I kind of like Samuel.

You rarely hear about a player who has such a bad practice that he gets benched from the preseason.

Then you hear about his old teammates saying he wasn't a leader.

You hear about how he was anti social at the draft events, checking his phone, not interacting with coaches.

I saw him play in college. All of these people saying he was a "smart QB" and "knew how to read the defense" are fools. He threw slip screens and WR screens to Tavon penetrating Austin against mostly crappy teams. He racked up stats. He had an awful 2nd half of the year. He's not that good! There is a reason why every team in the NFL passed on him.

no doubt he was overhyped coming into the draft. 3rd rounder at best no way he should have gone in the 2nd round. Can't really be a bust if your expected ceiling is being average

What percentage of Geno's passes were at or behind the line of scrimmage?

Did you ever think that helps guy's get a good completion percentage not accurate passes?

Donovan Mcnabb always had a high completion percentage but ask him to throw a 12-15 yard pass and it is at his receivers feet.

Exactly, I want my QB's to be mad bombers, get me that 40 yard strike in the air, another 20 yards tacked on by the reciever for 60 yard play.

Eli gets crapped on for that so called lucky SB catch in 2007. Know what? He got it there, OK it was caught on top of the helmet, but he got it threre.

I wish I saw Tarkenton play, my dad said he was an escape artist and got it 50 yards downfield while on the run. One of the best he says.

Plenty of 2nd round QB busts out there, Geno wouldn't be any different or worse.....Not sure why everyone wants to jump on Geno from the start BEFORE he actually plays or busts

Yes I know the offense was built for him, he had Tavon Austin and all that......He threw for 42 TDs and 6 INTS his senior year, give the guy a chance

He's saying all the right things and doesn't say anything negative to or about anyone......

Geno has a very good arm btw.....Needs some grooming for sure though

We don't like him because he is one of those idiots who comes into the pro game, thinking he is already a hall of famer. I would also assume he seemed with Jay Z right after getting drafted. That should tell you he is an idiot.

Find me a quote from him that says that....I never saw it

Closest thing I heard was hearsay that he was "upset" he didn't get drafted in the 1st round.....Don't blame anyone in his position that expected to go in the 1st round but didn't

Never saw him actually say anything that suggested he's entitled or whatever else people want to dump on him

That's about the only redeeming thing about Geno - he's a second rounder. The Jets picked two players in front of him - it's not like the Jets mortgaged their future on him. It dampens his bust-potential - it's funnier to remember he was expecting to be the #1 overall pick.

Also, he signed with Jay-Z the day after the draft after he fired his original agent. A couple of months go by and we learn that his contract left hundreds of thousands of guaranteed dollars on the table, a league-wide clause available to quarterbacks - an oversight that a slew of QBs drafted similarly to Geno in recent years did not make.

Yup, he's got winner written all over him.
