Here's my breakdown of round 1.

Old School Bracket, First Round Match-ups
1. Joe Montana (49ers) No brainer, I go with Joe.
16. Jake Delhomme (Panthers)

9. Jerome Bettis (Steelers)
8. Curtis Martin (Jets) It's close, but Martin gets the nod from me.

5. Marshall Faulk (Rams) Faulk. It's not really even close.
12. Clinton Portis (Redskins)

13. Reggie Wayne (Colts)
4. Dan Marino (Dolphins) Dandy Dan never got a ring, but maybe a Madden Cover?

3. Barry Sanders (Lions) Barry. But, he was on the cover of Madden 2000 already.
14. Ron Rivera (Bears)

6. Marcus Allen (Chiefs)
11. Tedy Bruschi (Patriots) Bruschi! I'm "voting for spite" after the Marcus Allen debate thread last week. haha

7. Randall Cunningham (Eagles)
10. LaDainian Tomlinson (Chargers) LT, nobody even remembers Cunningham anymore.

15. Derrick Brooks (Bucs)
2. Ray Lewis (Ravens) Ray, of course, but he was already on the 2005 cover.


1. Jerry Rice (49ers) Jerry. Greatest WR of all time, deserves a shot at Madden immortality.

8. John Randle (Vikings) Very close, but I'm going with Randle. Eddie already got a cover in 2001.

5. Michael Strahan (Giants) I'm going with Strahan, but only for one round.
12. Sterling Sharpe (Packers)

4. Kurt Warner (Cardinals) Warner. Ozzie deserves old-school props, but Kurt is more interesting.

3. Troy Aikman (Cowboys) Aikman, I guess. I barely remember Deuce.

6. Tim Brown (Raiders) Tim Brown, a much better WR than 85.
11. Chad Johnson (Bengals)

7. Jim Kelly (Bills) Kelly. He never got a ring, but gotta admire how he changed the game.

2. Deion Sanders (Falcons) Deion. I'd love to see an old-school guy for the 25'th anniversay, can Deion do it?

New School Bracket, First Round Match-ups
1.Colin Kaepernick (49ers) Kaepernick, he seems like a great Madden cover guy, the rising star.
16. Antonio Gates (Chargers)

9. Matt Forte (Bears) Forte. This one's a coin flip.
8. AJ Green (Bengals)

5. Julio Jones (Falcons) Julio. I bet this will be a landslide in voting, Madden fans love Julio for some reason.
12. Jimmy Graham (Saints)

13. Danny Amendola (Rams)
4. Arian Foster (Texans) Foster. The last thing Amendola needs is a Madden Curse, on top of last year.

3. Russel Wilson (Seahawks) Wilson. I'll be curious how far Wilson goes in this voting bracket.
14. Justin Blackmon (Jaguars)

6. Von Miller (Broncos)
11. Victor Crux (Giants) Cruz! Upset alert! Von is probably a slightly better player, but Cruz more popular.

7. Trent Richardson (Browns)
10. Clay Matthews (Packers) Matthews. Richardson had a better year, but Matthews is more popular.

15. Jake Locker (Titans)
2. Andrew Luck (Colts) Luck. But he'll need a ton of luck to get very far down the brackets.


1. Robert Griffin III (Redskins) Griffin. I can see Griffin in the final 4 if he can get past Adrian Peterson.
16. Ryan Tannehill (Dolphins)

9. Matthew Stafford (Lions) Stafford. I dunno, it's a coin flip. Either one will lose to Griffin next anyway.
8. Doug Martin (Bucs)

5. Ray Rice (Ravens) Rice. Does anyone even know who Kuechly is?

4. Dez Bryant (Cowboys) Dez. No offense to Spiller, but he isn't even the #1 RB on his own team.

11. Darrelle Revis (Jets) Revis! Always fun to root for any non-QB/RB/WR on the Madden cover.

3. Rob Gronkowski (Patriots) Gronk! If ever a TE on Madden, he would be a great guy for it.
14. Antonio Brown (Steelers)

7. Patrick Peterson (Cardinals) Peterson. LOL at Peterson VS Peterson round 2!
10. LeSean McCoy (Eagles)

2. Adrian Peterson (Vikings) Peterson. Hard to argue against the reigning NFL MVP.

I'm looking at the round 2 voting, Kaepernick and A.J.Green are very close, the rest are sorta lopsided.

I voted for Kaepernick over Green, just seems like a better Madden cover, but what do I know?

Round 3 is up, down to the sweet 16.

Last week had some close ones, Kaep pulled out a clutch win over A.J. Green and Strahan knocked off Kurt Warner.

This week, the favs should prevail, but Luck v.s. Russell Wilson is interesting, I voted Russell Wilson just because.

4 Players left, it's looking like Adrian Peterson will be the next Madden Cover.

Still plenty of time to vote for Jerry Rice versus Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson versus Arian Foster.

Basically, it's "old school" versus "new school".

I'm going with Peterson, out with the old and in with the new. Barry has already been on a Madden cover anyway.

Yeah Jerry Rice knocked him out 60%-40%. I gotta be honest, I think I voted for Rice.

Doesn't really matter, Adrian Peterson will get the cover, I can't see Barry Sanders knocking him off.
