Monday Night NFL Preview - Philly Eagles @ NO Saints

The Eagles roll into New Orleans for an intriguing tie that could finally end the hopes of the Saints, while leaving Philly with the chance to jump back into the playoff race or condemn them to (probably) another playoff-less year.

Fumbles, INT's and some more fumbles

Fair to say this season has gone much like the last one for the Eagles, and their fans are not happy. They're 3-4 in a division they thought they'd win, and with all the offensive talent they have, 17 PPG is not something to boast about.

The weapons are scary, Maclin, Avant, Jackson, McCoy and Vick, but they cannot get the ball going because of the offensive line. Vick is getting brutalised back there and is rushing throws as a result. The deep ball has disappeared, but luckily, their opponents are great at allowing deep throw completion.

Vick should have a big night, a la his 2010 season where he broke all fantasy records. The Saints don't get the pass rush of other teams Philly have struggled with, they certainly won't cause problems like Arizona or Atlanta.

    Nowhere but up from 32nd

The Saints defence has destroyed their momentum this season, and tonight, they face one of the potentially more explosive offences, at home in the dome where they'll have to contend with Darren Sproles missing, their no.2 receiver, despite being a back field player.

Brees has got to get the ball moving, and while they are no.1 in the league in passing yardage, they rank 32nd or close as makes no difference in a number of categories:
Rushing yardage, passing defence, rushing defence, defensive scoring, the list goes on and on, and it's no coincidence that Steve Spagnuolo is at the DC helm.

The Saints must get the pass rush going tonight, force Vick into rushing throws, otherwise they'll get torched, but to think they can hold the Eagles to 20 points is fantasy, they must score 30+ i reckon to have a sniff.
Brees can do that, and has the weapons himself, with Jimmy Graham inside and Colston scoring in his last 3 before being blanked at Denver.

    Who'll win?

Ultimately, the +3 for the Eagles is a great price, this Saints defence just cannot be trusted, and rightly so. As a result, the Phillies should run riot, and while Brees is an elite QB, even he can't stop the secondary getting blitzed to the tune of 30 points or more a game.

    Eagles +3 @ -110

    Over 51.5 points @ -110
