So here is my story. About two years ago, I started betting on baseball because a good friend of mine who runs a Las Vegas gaming company told me it was the hardest game for the sportsbooks to hold. I started with about $500 and turned it into just over $30,000 in little more than one year. I would love to say that this due to my remarkable skill as a handicapper, but in all honesty it was more luck than skill. I used a Martingale approach. Constantly chasing, I hit my last bet on more than a few occasions. Timely hits kept me a live; and, more often than not, increased my bankroll.
During the last year, I took my handicapping more seriously and got better. I abandoned the Martingale approach and maintained a cross-sport winning percentage of about 55.4 percent. I have a heavy mathematics background which has served me well (at least thus far). I have continued to grow my bankroll, without progressing my wagers after every loss.
Some friends asked me if I would start posting some of my bets. Since I track some of the people who post here (hat tip to The Seer's NCAA/NFL thread), I figure this was an appropriate place. I use only Vegas lines, and I guarantee noting other than my best efforts to progressively increase my bankroll.
NBA plays are over for this tonight, so I will not post my picks (went 1-1, -.1). The other plays I am on this week are as follows:
NFL
Packers -10 (-1.10)
Broncos -3 (-1.20)
Dolphins -2.5 (-1.10)
Steelers +3.5 (-1.10)
Eagles +3.5 (-1.10)
NCAA
Indiana -1.5 (-1.10)
Georgia Tech -7.5 (-1.10)
